Got this yesterday, it is definitely not spam. Should I create a new thread?

yes. As soon as you know it is not spam, and it is certain to generate discussion, PLEASE just bypass the spam thread and make a new thread. I'm doing so for you now, just so I can reply.

So far I found out that:

1) The cirillic characters are in Serbian according to google translate and translate to "Abel, one son"
2) The EXIF data of the JPEG says the picture was taken May 3, 1916.
3) There is a comment in the EXIF which says "find us we are lost we do not believe"
4) The integer sequence is Fibonacci sequence beginning 0 8
5) "Mad as a March Hare" entry in wikipedia says: To be as "mad as a March hare" is an English idiomatic phrase derived from the observed antics, said to occur (incorrectly)[1] only in the March breeding season of the Hare, genus Lepus. The phrase is an allusion that can be used to refer to any other animal or human who behaves in the excitable and unpredictable manner of a "March Hare". One application of fibonacci sequence is to predict the growth of a population of rabbits based on idealized assumptions, so I wonder if this is the relation between the picture and the sequence.

I already replied but got no response yet.

(i'll need to fix that first post, to grab the attachment from the original post, sorry)

I found another occurance of that image, here:
http://dyingforbadmusic.com/blog/post/2010/03/mixtape-15-march-hares.html

It's probably just another borrowing of the original, which I have not yet found. That may or may not be important to the game; it's just something we do while waiting for other tasks.

That pic of the rabbits is almost as creepy as Donnie Darko's bunny.

Hi guys, these are the last updates from the spam thread.

-A close friend which is also registered on Unfiction (VictorSueiro) received the same email. We both played Find the Lost Ring two years ago, but other than that, we are not active ARG players.

-A TinEye search shows that the picture is not original art: http://www.tineye.com/search/c2ca6e5f64e3527cd4dcda9593105478222c7111/

-We both replied to the email but got no answer yet.

--------------------------

So far, VictorSuerio and I sent three emails to "Abel":

1) From me to Abel:
Quote:

Who are you? How can I help you? What mistake did you make?

Ко си ти? Како могу да вам помогнем? Шта грешка је правите?

2) Also from me to Abel:

Quote:
Try this:

4 4 8 12 20 32 52 84 (expressed in pairs of hares)

or

8 8 16 24 40 64 104 168 (expressed in individual hares)

3) From VictorSueiro to Abel

Quote:
"Why they are lost? Are you with them?"

None of these email got a reply.

Windows properties also says there is a subject of "please", adding onto the entire phrase

Ok so I haven't been around in awhile and was lurking a bit when this caught my attention. Two questions:

Can a Fibonacci sequence start with 0 and 8? Seems to me it would have to start with 8,8 because if you start with 0 the next one would have to be 1 right? Or do the 2 seed values not matter? Long time since calculus... so could be way off....

Next if it was related to the rabbit reproduction it would have to start with 4, as in 4 pairs like [M] said... but using Abel's original notation (if correct) from above wouldn't it be:

0,4,4,8,12,20,32,52

Just some thoughts...

Edit: Also in doing some research I found that there is a nifty Fibonacci conversion to binary code... a little over my head but thought I'd throw it out there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fibonacci_coding

What about the religios aspect to this? The crylic letters spelling Abel, one son. Abel was one of the sons of Noah, and the story deals with the unification of humanity after the fall of Adam's family.

Also this is also used as a basic tenet of Rev. Moons teachings... Has abel replied at all?

as far as I remember of the ratio it almost always started with 0.
like it would go 0,1,1,2,3,5 ect. I can't remember why, but thatis how I have always seen it laid out.

Howdy, new to ARGs
just thought the date is interesting...

May 3rd 1916 is the date of the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_Rising Easter Rising. All I can think of so far is something related to a South Park episode, I'll look into this a bit more. With the rabbits in the photo with the filename w, something could be related.

----correction----

Easter Rising leaders Thomas MacDonagh and Thomas J. Clarke were both executed on May 3rd, 1916.

Yea I wasn't sure... I thought that to be a Fibonacci sequence it had to start with F(0)=0, And F(1)=1 otherwise its just a recurring sequence... here they are saying F(0)=0 and F(1)=8. Once again its been a long while so I could be wrong...

I also was wondering about the 'Mooney' connection with 'Unification' and the name 'Abel'... like cbaker said...

It's been an awfully long time since I first learned about Fibonacci numbers, but if I'm recalling correctly I believe the original problem was to determine how many *offspring* the rabbits would have, given a two iteration gestation period, or something like that.

I have no idea if that's relevant or helpful, but it does explain the zero.
