I like to think that Masky sleeps in the closet-bed when he's being Masky. It's kind of the place you'd shut up an animal rather than a person and Masky seems to be somehow... depersonalised.

Also note that in entry 23 when Jay wakes up in the closet bed, and then he opens the door and finds that mask hanging there - lots of people theorised that Jay is being brainwashed into becoming a Masky, and the mask being left there was like an invitation to put it on and join them. Being kept in the closet bed because that's where good little Maskies belong would make sense in that context.

Regardless of whether a closet is a good place to keep animals (....... O_O?!) I had figured that Masky stayed there simply because of the links between water-bottles, Tim, and side-burn'd mask-wearing characters.

The thought that Brian was lurking in the closet the whole time is creepy as hell, though.

Think battery hens, kennelled dogs, caged lab mice. A closet is not a bedroom you give someone because you value their dignity, it's a place you shut someone up when you want to degrade and dehumanise them.

Uh, yeah, I suppose. I just found that your analogy was really unnerving. I don't shut animals into closets for any reason, let alone to dehumanize them, so I found it odd that you'd remark on that so flippantly. Not on-topic, though, so can probably disregard.

I thought Tim/Masky uses the bed closet to hide from the Operator or just sleeps in there because he's...well, Masky.

But your view of that makes sense.

Edit: For some reason, I quoted myself instead of editing my error on my post. Embarassed

Oh, absolutely it's a cruel and horrifying way to treat anyone. But if I found out that someone was having an animal sleep in a little closet like that, I'd be angry at them but not surprised - it's the sort of cruelty which is, sad to say, depressingly common. If I found out someone was having a person sleep in a little closet, then that's shocking and horrifying because that level of cruelty to human beings is much less widespread. (And if a person actually chooses to sleep in a filthy closet like that rather than anywhere else they can possibly find... then they're seriously far gone.)

So, Brian.. Seth Rogen look-alike or Masky?

I think we can rule out Masky, maybe, but I find it hard to believe that Alex was the only one affected by SM.

He's only seen in two videos, both apparently quite early in the filming of Marble Hornets (the film). After that, he's.... 'somewhere, I dunno.' Or 'out' or 'gone' or something along those lines.

Is it possible he's isolating himself? This is pulling from other threads, but someone said that one possible effect of SM is the need to get away from everyone. He could have been just as caught in it as Jay or Alex, but we never see it due to him maybe never having a camera (or we just haven't seen his tapes yet, cough)

Or maybe he's noticing all the crazy shit going on around Alex and just wants to stay as far away from the guy as possible.

It's hard to believe that Brian isn't going to play a vital role sometime or another, since the crew felt it necessary to a) show him as few times as they did and b) make it obvious that he's gone most of the time.

So rather than "animal" it becomes more.... "subhuman" (Did I say that right?)

I mean, I totally get where you're coming form, and it seems to hold credit. A few years ago when I owned a dog, he slept in my closet. (The door stayed open at all times, so it' not like he couldn't leave.) and being forced to sleep in a closet seems degrading, almost humiliating...

Maybe Slendy and masky are both into BDSM? Razz

So, sorry for the bump, but I didn't feel it necessary to make a new thread.

I've been thinking about it and as the whole series stand right now I'm putting my money on Brian being ToTheArk. Reason being, he's the up there as one of the characters we know the LEAST about, but even with that as a fact, we've seen him in some of the earliest entries. He was introduced early. He's also very suspicious because he never seems to be around and not only is he just "not around." No one has a clue where he is.

I like this theory better than the one about him being killed off, which I'm pretty sure is quite popular. I've never really seen this get brought up before. It would fit the content that came of the first half of TTA videos. TTA did in fact reveal to us that Tim was a masky at one point (if you like the mutliple maskies theory) or is masky (if you like the single masky theory).

Concerning the drastic change of how the TTA videos looked after that though is hard to explain. Maybe Brian got replaced some how? Who knows.

It could be that Brian and Tim, who were stated as having been friends in the interview, were working together, then it came down to just Tim and that's why the videos changed?

Interesting thought, though!

Here is the theory I came up with not to long ago in the "Where did the camera come from" thread:

My theory: What if Brian and Tim worked together at one point as TTA? Consider this: The first series of TTA videos are the work of Brian. In the latter of them, TTA starts to give out Tim's identity as Masky. Even before that TTA was always pointing the finger at Tim. What if Tim did something (killing is drastic) to replace Brian as TTA? This could explain the change in the video style. It could also explain why TTA started saying come to "me" at the house (when Tim as masky was there). This could also explain the use of other words such as "we" and "us".

The problem with that is that switching from 'me' to 'we' doesn't follow the chronology of events that you're suggesting!

my idea: Brian and Tim work together as masky (whom may or may not be TTA) When Alex gives up on the project and runs they split into two. One stays at home and watches for the return of SM/ the resurfacing of the tapes that Alex gave J. This is Tim. Brian, on the other hand, left to chase after Alex. (he's the one who planted the tape/ camera) This, however, still shows nothing of the character's motives. Why is he masky? Where did he come from? What is this disease that Tim has? Does Brian also have it? So many questions.....Note: the change in personalities shown in the TTA videos may be caused by Brian leaving and thus not having access to the computer program needed. Also, can anyone tell what was on Alex's computer when The Operator came for him?

I think the Character Brian in MH is played by an actor also named Brian. I forget where I got this idea from, but it was probably from one of the scenes being filmed. If this is so, it means he could be who the character is based off of (playing himself in the film) and cements his childhood connection to Alex.

I always assumed Masky slept in the closet 'cause the house's layout changes so much (at least during the day, probably more often than that though) that it was just safer to be in a little room like that then, say, the bedroom upstairs (was it a bedroom? There was mattress) which is stuck in an eternal room-loop with itself.
Just my idea.
