My guess for next week's event is they'll be doing something similar to the Gridlock Rendezvous/Screen Scene. The /digitalpulse website states:

"We need to summon our resources for one last push. Flynn was on to something; he was growing more paranoid by the hour during his final book tour. If we retrace his steps, maybe we can finally learn the truth.

We need an operative on the ground in every city that Flynn visited. There is important evidence there, and we're tracking down every shred of it."

My guess is it'll be at a book store in your city(if on of the 16 cities) where Flynn might have toured through, and there will be a "shred" of evidence there. Maybe it's literally a shred of book that has an FL Event code on it, once entered reveals a larger picture a-la tron cards in Gridlock Rendezvous, or a sticker like the one posted on the FL message boards, like this:

That will have an FL event code listed in the box, once entered will reveal more online. Maybe to a new site for tickets to an advanced screening, like they did with the imax preview from Screen Scene.

EDIT: I realize the sticker in the image is photoshopped, but ISOlatedThinker said on the FL discussion boards:

Quote:
DISCOVERY!!!

With all this talk of Flynn's old book tour, I took a walk down memory lane and visited the spot where he visited in my home town. You'll never believe what I found.

Makes sense. 42 Entertainment, if this is not what you're doing but it sounds cooler, PM me, I might quit my job to work for you. Wink

Quick, everyone get a job at every book store in your city and see if they are secretly planning an event. Very Happy

Well just like the gridlock rendezvous, it'll probably be someone in the store or outside, maybe even a sticker just like this merely on a light pole in front of a book store...

Right then. Anything \I can do to help out from my hole in the ground? We're close. I"m hoping the folk running things can lead in to a huge finish.

On the FL boards I noticed this post in the Action Packed Architecture thread:

Quote:
Yes - the Lodgement Superstructure and Hedera Helix thus far. Little known fact: Jordan also designed a building near the Embarcadero (the site of our awesome protest to disrupt the Encom press conference last April). He's three for three.

Maybe there's a TRON sticker down by Justin Herman plaza? The Hyatt hotel there looks vaguely like something Jordan would have designed...

Dude, I've been thinking the same. Kinda like a scavenger hunt back at CC or the Why So Serious thing where people had clues for landmarks in their city, and it ended up spelling words. So cool.

I was re-reading the "Digital Frontier" excerpt from http://www.flynnlives.com/images/forums/useruploads/book.jpg and the side channel attack is pretty interesting.
Quote:
I'm talking hundreds of supercomputers, tapped into the same immense global network. Maybe that's why the side channel attack is still just a theory. I lack the cooperation I need to make it a reality.

That book was "published" around 1985. By those standards today's computers ARE supercomputers. And the internet is the global network with all of us cooperating.

First time poster

Hi there. I'm a noob here, but I've done the puzzles off and on when I haven't been traveling for work and you guys are really impressive. Followed the whole thread over the past few hours when I saw the puzzle was live. I wish I had been able to participate more in the past.

The speculation for the countdown has me wondering. I'm a St Louis resident and I'd be willing to drive up to Chicago for an event, but from the way the /digitalpulse website is worded it seems like they're only going to be calling the operatives with phones for the "hunt"? If so, is there a place the operatives would post for those of us stragglers who would like to attend?

Trying to weigh options and see if the cost to drive up there would be worth it. It seems really excited but I'd hate to make the trip for nothing if it's something as simple as taking a picture of a sticker. Yes, I realize no one can give me a definitive answer on what will happen, I was more hoping to hear something from the Chicago operative, if there is one. (There should be one, right?)

Hey what program or tab is the "difference effect" found in, I have been looking under filters for Photoshop but don't see it. I would like to try this for myself.

Someone who uses Photoshop could answer that - I use Corel.

In basic terms, you have an object and place it over another; if there's an exclusion/different/negate effect of some sort you can apply to the object, that should do the trick.

In Photoshop it's available when you use layers, it's one of the layer blending options.

ah there it is, thanks!... still I must be doing something wrong, since I line 'em up set the top layer to difference and/or exclusion and I still get gibberish. oh well.

Only apply the difference blend to the top image. Also, use the 12-sided die to determine up/down/left right for each symbol. Once you have a physical papercraft die in hand it makes things easier when doing it in Photoshop.

I am only applying the difference blend on the top layer. I took the right half turned it upside down so it matched the left hand and what I get is this:

I made a paper craft version, but the two halves can be combined several ways. Are you saying that each individual symbol has to be rotated separately? I know this doesn't really matter anymore, but I just really want to see it, I was here for the whole puzzle, and I still feel like I don't know how it was solved. lol.

So, if my calculations are correct, for UK programs the countdown ends at 4pm on the 8th December. Is that right? Question

Yup that's what I make it.

Superb! That's the first of five days off work for me, hope something goes down in London!? Very Happy

Hope this bloody snow clears... I've still got a day to take off before the end of the year - the 8th December is looking pretty good!

Maybe we ought to meet up in Central London? Combine our efforts as such... sowasred2012?

Too right about the snow, wanted to go to the Southbank tonight Sad

Combined effort in town on the 8th? Yeah I may be up for that Cool

Line up the two blank sides of each half. Then you should have the "pairs" set up correctly.

It may be silly to bring up now, but did anyone figure out which ONE of the 204 sites listed on the reverse IP of AracdeAid is new? Just saying... last time I checked there were 203, but I have to run off and send out fezzes. I'll check back in a few bits.

Nice Jorb all.
