On the FL boards I noticed this post in the Action Packed Architecture thread:

Yes - the Lodgement Superstructure and Hedera Helix thus far. Little known fact: Jordan also designed a building near the Embarcadero (the site of our awesome protest to disrupt the Encom press conference last April). He's three for three.

Maybe there's a TRON sticker down by Justin Herman plaza? The Hyatt hotel there looks vaguely like something Jordan would have designed...

I wondered that too, to the point of starting write out a post as well until I thought about it more. I think it's just referring to when he jumped out of the helicopter at the Encom press event. I believe they're just linking his other two "jumps" from an actual building to the 'copter jump.

Well, looking at what was done for the whysoserious ARG, the screening tix were given out on the 10th of July, the screenings took place on the 15th and the movie opened on the 18th. So if this follows at all closely to this kind of schedule, we could be looking at a scavenger hunt on the 8th to open a site that will allow to sign up for screening tix for screenings to take place the following week.

Something that about made my head explode is that going back and looking at the wiki for that ARG and seeing the site where screening tix were available, I was reminded that one of the screening sites for the TDK screenings was OMAHA!! (Wasn't able to play along with whysoserious much as I was GMing a theater at the time, working 50-60 hours a week! Though my brother was the second person at the bowling ball drop here in town.) I swear, if my town gets a screening of Legacy I will need to change my pants! Just thinking about it I've been damn near shaking with excitement. (NERRRRRRRRD!!!!!) Heheh. Razz

Awesome, I'll check in with Beef2Taco, maybe he'd want to join up, too. Of course assuming we're in on this city thing!

-Tommy

I'm in for a meet-up!
And the only bookstore I can think of in downtown is Borders on 6th avenue (right down the street from where Flynn's Arcade was!) I think there are a couple smaller ones, but I can't recall.

Not true, the gridlock rendezvous was in clairemont mesa at the arcade in Boomer's.

Well if anyone wants to start looking go right ahead Very Happy I doubt they're up now!

I wasnt thinking about that. Either way. YEAH! Im excited!

The borders downtown would be a badass spot.

Hopefully in keeping with the tone of the game, it would be book stores that have been open since the late 80's. Easier in concept than execution, I'm sure, but it would be a nice touch.

Line up the two blank sides of each half. Then you should have the "pairs" set up correctly.

That is what I thought I did in the linked pic...I am starting to feel really dumb. :p

If it's related to the phones I guess it'll be Sydney, not Melbourne, for the Oz part.
Is the phone holder from Sydney part of these forums?

Unfortunately I don't think they are. I have no idea who the Sydney phone holder is. I'm still a bit disappointed that I couldn't quite get to the Sydney arcade on time. Although I'm currently free to get to the Sydney CBD, to be honest, I think there is a larger TRON fanbase in Melbourne.

agree, and I supposed it would be to much to hope for that they would have copies of any of his books, or maybe something from his lost fourth one.

I will be in SF as well that day, for sure.

I just realized I misread this!

Our Melbourne screening is fully allocated, with other people now stating they wish they'd grabbed tickets, so there is definitely a decent fanbase here Very Happy

Anyone find anything interesting in the source of the swfs for the countdown or epiphany thing?

All I found in the countdown that seemed interesting was

m_countdowntimer.CountDown(2010, 12, 8, 8, 0, 0, 0);

I swung by a few Boston area bookstores on my way home on the outside chance that I would see some TRON stickers. Nothing so far. There is no bookstore near where Avatrix picked up the phone back in march so I am pretty sure these locations will be different (provided this happens in Boston, which I think it will).

Mach1 .... sounds like I may be joining you on the hunt, although I am in the Riverside area. I'm looking forward to this one!

So, I just realized, what if we aren't looking for a bookstore but a library? All the libraries I have worked at have done book tours and to be honest I could see Flynn stopping at academic institutions too since he was kind of a big deal back in his time.

Just some food for thought. It is also way easier to figure out which libraries and universities were open in 1988 as opposed to book stores. I don't even know if our libraries out here still have phone books and that is the only way I can think to check on something like that other than calling up individual bookstores. And cold calling like that makes me feel kind of like a creeper.
