Secure day-time grid access via boss-bot. Countdown takes us to 11am Wed.
Still simply a wishful thinking assumption of Toronto being one of the possibles, but we are a pretty big market. Using my 100 messenger army to secure, central wi-fi camp site with power, that won't force me to be caffeinated all day.

On like Donkey Kong

thebruce, th30p3rat0r, battle_cat .. if you are so inclined please MSG me your contact#'s and I'll code them in to my phone (personal) too bad we can't set up a temporary cell conference call.

I do believe I have already secured my screening passes, if so any subsequent passes will be donated to the troops of the Toronto Division of Flynn's Army™.

great. i will add you and any of the other O-Town Flynn Army.

right now @ work and the site is blocked form the mouse.

i think the Orlando Public Library is our only lead for the city. Lakeland may have a old bookstore as well as Tampa. thewired1 and I have dug around the city for old bookstores and theres nothing existing since the late 80s except OPL circa 1986.

I think there's a bit of artistic license here, so I don't think a book store will have HAD to exist back in '89. In theory if the bookstore Kevin had visited before is now closed, we'd be hosed. Thus, I think our FL friends would simply choose another suitable store.

I don't know that the event on the 8th will result in a screening that day. Is that what happened with TDK? I certainly hope the list of locations is not the same as the Norelco promotion, because that'll leave out most of the middle of the country. That would also exclude everyone outside the US.

No, the screening wasn't that night, just the discovery of the URL where you could nab tickets for said screening. I believe it was a week later or so.

Of course, but at least there might be an attempt to be accurate. I don't think we'll be looking out front of a Borders or anything. At least they're going to try and make this a revisitation, as there are so many elements hinting towards it, such as:
- The post on the FL Forums by ISOlated Thinker
"With all this talk of Flynn's old book tour, I took a walk down memory lane and visited the spot where he visited in my home town. You'll never believe what I found. "
- The reuse of the old flyer
- The mention on the countdown page
"If we retrace his steps, maybe we can finally find the truth"

Like I said, we'll know when the site goes live, so they'll probably give us locations where he visited, but if we're lucky, maybe we can position ourselves near where it might be to save time getting there.

yes yes! i agree. thats what the o-town army will do since we may need to cover 2 cities an hour apart from each other.

From the looks of things, you O-town folks have a lot of potential drops to cover:
http://maps.google.com/maps?&q=orlando+bookstores
Certainly not in close range, foot chase kind of distance.
Good thing you're building a fair army of people.

An early lunch at one of the places near S. Orange and Michigan might be a good rally point for the team. Break into squads and deploy before 11AM.
(Yes, I know O-town.)

And I'll have at least +1 since I'm dragging my girlfriend along and making her miss school that day.

I'm thinking the Gaslamp since the Borders is there and its right next to the convention center where Flynn Lives has been before (also the Dude himself [soon to be True Dude or Dude Grit]). Any where else?

This quote "I took a walk down memory lane and visited the spot where he visited in my home town..."

Means that it doesn't have to be an active bookstore, I would go with artistic license here.

Also, I believe the Norelco screening is totally different since they are going to sell out their showings. I'm hoping its just coincidence that its 16 cities.

Not that it's likely to be close to here, but throw me under a Dayton/Cleveland/Columbus area.

so shall we look when old bookstores existed downtown? im really hoping not to truck it to Lakeland for this, i would love to take that out of the equation.

i almost want to make a caravan of minivans...etc...and park them right before the onramp to i-4 east or west. but im down with rallying the troop for a downtown location.

im just not think it will be in winter garden/ internation dr area. ive got a growing hunch it will be downtown and at a non-religious store. or possible a property that was once a bookstore in the 80s.
