I never thought he was an alien or a ghost so much as just an entity. Very possibly from another dimension.

Yeah I get an otherworldly, cosmic-horror vibe from him. He's a Thing That Should Not Be taking on a crude approximation of a human form.

So yeah, I voted Other

Whatever he is, I doubt that he was ever human. I sort of think of him as eh...an archetype? Something conceived by humans, but eventually gaining it's own consciousness, motives and modus operandi. Sort of an 'Ever ancient, Ever new' kind of entity, to steal a slogan from a snowed-out religious conference.

I think Lovecraft would be proud.

Slender Man is other. He doesn't belong to a group of anything. He's that childhood fear you used to have. He's that primal fear.

Hush little baby, don't say a word.
And never mind that noise you heard...
It's just the beasts under your bed.
In your closet, in your head!

That sums it up perfectly. Except, instead of a made-up monster....the Slender Man is there. He's always been there.

I jest. I agree that he's simply a entity. He is Slender Man, plain and simple.
