Just paid $7.99 on Amazon for the MP3 album for Reconfigured. Shame that there wasn't a realistic way to get the extra from TopSpin, but I'm never giving them any business again.

Have I mentioned before that I've been thoroughly disgusted with the way these Soundtracks have been handled? I would have liked the physical copy of the CD but had to pass because you could only buy it with the poster which jacked up the price. Now I really want the Digital Collector's EP (I don't even really care about the Reconfigured Album), but the only way to get it is to buy $50 worth of useless crap I already have.

As a fan and a consumer I feel like I'm being punished and exploited for being dedicated to this brand rather than being rewarded. I guess starting on the 18th I'll be scouring eBay for someone willing to burn the EP to a disc and sell it for a reasonable amount. At this point I'm much happier giving my money to a shady bootlegger who will give me what I want for a reasonable price than I am giving my money to Topspin who just want to take me for all I'm worth with nothing useful in return.

Dude they sell the soundtrack at target, best buy, wal mart, etc.

I think the problem he's expressing his anger at is that if you want all the songs (without piracy) you have to buy from multiple sources and do an import as well since some tracks were only sold through specific retailers and some were only sold in Europe.

I have my soundtrack CD on repeat play at work. I never realized I was missing tracks. Then I went and saw the movie again, and did hear a few spots of music that was not familiar to me, so I guess those are the bonus tracks on these other formats. I agree that it seems strange to distribute material this way. It's capitalist greed like this that gives us three different "director's cut" versions of a movie, which isn't always an improvement.

Kosinski actually explained this in an interview a while back and he said that the studio requires him to finalize the track list for the soundtrack several months before the film is finished meaning there are more pieces of score written after the soundtrack was finalized. That's why they show up as bonuses later on.

And dbalschi, do the versions you mention come with the collector's EP? Because that's what I'm most interested in. Like I said, the Reconfigured soundtrack doesn't interest me all that much, what I really want are those extra pieces from the film score included on the EP.

I don't think any version out there (present or future) comes with all the songs. If it has anything other than the 31 tracks noted previously then it's not complete.

And that's why the distribution model for the tracks sucks. If you want the bonuses, you need to buy them in packages with stuff you probably already own. If they add tracks after an album, have them available individually or heck even as free bonuses to people who already bought the album. That's the issue here... Confused

I agree, they could still be exclusive, but give us the opportunity to purchase just the individual tracks we're missing. The two iTunes bonus tracks are that way, as is the Amazon bonus track, but Sunrise Prelude is exclusive to a music store that isn't available in the US, and I have no idea where to [legally] obtain the other five.

I was excited when they announced the Collector's EP, because I thought it'd be a convenient way to gather all these bonus tracks into one place, but instead you have to pay an exorbitant amount of money for a bundle of stuff that most people interested already own, which is anything but convenient.

Agreed. Instead of making it a separate, purchasable item from everything else, they guaranteed that I will not spend any extra money to get stuff I do not need, as well as many others.

And, on top of that, they couldn't even get the Daft Punk poster to ship without being damaged to at least two of us as well, showing that they were not only incompetent at coming up with what bundles they have chosen to sell, but they also are incompetent at fulfilling the orders.

I think the best part of what they did was the website design. The emails with the promotions were also decent. That's it.

Yeah, the stores pay the music publishers a lot of money (I imagine) so that they can offer "Exclusive content" for their store. At least when games do it they normally release the extra DLC stuff later on for purchase by everyone else (though Rockstar is having a hell of a time with Red Dead Redemption).

Just got my "limited edition" vinyl

While there are tracks that were only digital on there, and the physical construction is very nice, 2 big things wrong.

- First, there's an insert to download the tracks. The instructions say
Quote:
Thank you for purchasing the TRON: Legacy soundtrack vinyl edition. To get this as an MP3 download, please visit the link www.tronsoundtrack.co.uk/digital and place the item in your basket. Then use the code shown below during checkout to receive your download.

Of course, that link returns a 403 Forbidden. So, there's no link for the digital only on the US or UK site. Do I add the vinyl again to a cart and try a code? Do I not? What the heck?

- Second, the tronsoundtrack site lists the release as "only 1000 available." What they fail to mention is that apparently, the US site only got 1000, because my numbering on the back is 3642/9072. Just a tad misleading.

Did anyone here actually hand over the extra cash to get the 'Collectors EP'? Just wanted to know if there were actually additional tracks than all the extra bonus tracks from itunes/amazon/UKcd#2/Nokia.
I see that even the vinyl doesnt have all the extras.

Also what kind of thoughts do everyone have on the r3c0nf1gur3d album? I listened to them online and is still on the fence if I want to purchase the CD or not.

I generally like it, except for Fall, which is one of my favorite tracks on the soundtrack album, but is horrid/scary on Reconfigured. What were they thinking?
