i know i said it in the other threads, but im still hoping that at least in LA they have 2 or 3 drops...one in the valley and one on the downtown side of the hill...otherwise this is a pure luck deal...whatever team is near the drop gets it and everyone else...doesnt

seems kinda (for lack of a more sophisticated term) unfair to everyone else who skipped work and/or school

Well...

The flyer does say 'Check this website for exact times and locations", which leads me to believe that /digitalpulse should - SHOULD - tell us where to go on Tuesday. Meeting up in groups is just to speed things along, if all goes well. If not... bookstore crawl.

Perhaps using the places in the OP as meeting points?

Downtown LA/area can use the bookstore/shopping center near 42E HQ.

Westside/OC can use the Hull Building.

IE can meet at, say, the Galleria?

The Valley people are already meeting near the Sherman Oaks Galleria, the IE/Pasadena people should meet at the B&N across from 42E, and the South LA/Culver City people should meet at Hull

Sounds good to me!

BTW, If anyone wants to man up as group leader (for the 3 locations), now would be the time. We need someone to start the phone tree (we could PM #s, emails, or both, Monday night) and such.

I'll add this to the IRC thread, but I urge everyone to get ready to use it on Tuesday, especially those of us with smartphones. We'll need it.

I do have a laptop (kinda old though) and a decent cell phone. I plan on being at the Starbucks just next door to B&N on Colorado that morning. Knowing me, I'll be there painfully early and Starbucks will wind up getting some of my hard earned money LOL

I'll have my laptop with me and keeping an eye on the countdown timer and this forum (as long as the internet connection doesn't cost too much) or I can just use my cell phone. Any of the IE folks that are planning on doing this are more than welcome to hang out with me.

Obi-Shawn here, West LA. I am, unfortunately, not a phone holder but would love to have one on the team. Anyone know where the second phone is?

I have the day clear, a good webphone with unlimited everything to contribute, and several GPS units (thought the one on my phone is superior to the Tomtoms I have.) The hyperdrive on my car is broken, but R2 can be of some use.

I am glad to help organize in any way I can. I can be reached at:

obishawn (at) gmail (dot) com, and 310 908 IDEA by phone. On FB (as ObiShawn) as well.

I'm thinking:

Option 1: Meet at the Hull Building ("Flynn's") in Culver City, near the Popup store and the 10 Fwy/traffic corridor, which gives us reasonable access to Santa Monica, West LA, Hollywood, Downtown and the SouthBay. Lots of free parking there, and a good, cheap diner near said parking.

Option 2: Meet at a member's house. I can volunteer mine; I am near LAX at the 105/405 interchange, 15 min from Santa Monica and Culver City, Other offers welcome.

Ideas?

See, what I'm worried about is us all meeting up at the Hull building and then finding out the LA "drop" doesn't happen for a few hours...

That said, however, I think it's the best place to meet up. It would be an awesome photo op if we were all decked out in 'Flynn Lives' and 'Flynn's arcade' shirts outside the original "Flynn's" don't you? Very Happy

I'll be rockin' my shirt and Encom lanyard. As Shawn said, that's a good restaurant district; we could grab some breakfast assuming the pickup location announcement doesn't happen right away. I think that we should also have a second location to meet up AFTER the pickup.

I've got a decent size car with 3 passenger seats, room for 2 more people. I've already promised a seat to ShadowDragon1. I'll be connected to operationtron Twitter and FL site through my phone, which is also my GPS navigator.

If you do feel the need to keep in touch with me, cell is: (310) 699-6295.

im torn. Part of me wants to meet up with yall in the morning, but another part wants to be home to work on the puzzle (if there is one). Only problem is traffic. Given that this is the middle of the week the traffic at 8 am is going to be nuts, as usual.
I may be able to get a laptop (nothing fancy) from my work with a sprint modem that will get us internet access pretty much anywhere. Im checking on it.
Is everyone meeting up at one location, or should we split up and have 2 or even 3 locations around LA?

Check the first post -- it looks as if there are presently three LA-area groups planned, for north, west, and east.

Since it is very likely that LA/Orange County/Inland Empire are considered one group (and San Diego will be getting it's own drop point/bookstore), I think its high time that we consider where they may decide to do the deed.

Some ideas, some of which are from the main thread:

- Culver City Downtown- The Hull Building/Comics Ink
As any TRON fan knows, the Hull Building served as the physical shooting location for Flynn's Arcade (the holes in the brick facade where the Flynn's sign once stood are still visible). There is a comic book store down the street, Comics Ink, which has been open since the 1980's.

- Pasadena Barnes & Noble
Address: 111 West Colorado Boulevard, Pasadena, CA 91105
This B&N has been open since the early 80's, and is, literally, across the street from 42 Entertainment. A very likely candidate.

- Downtown Hollywood/Hollywood & Highland/Boulevard Books
Not only does Disney own or lease much of the land, e.g. El Capitan theater, there's a small bookstore down the street. No idea when it opened, though.

I'll need to double check my work calendar, but I think I can help out with Pasadena.

Will it tell us on Tuesday or will it be Wednesday @ 8am?
