thanks for a great arg

thanks 42e for a great arg. while the l.a. group converged on the one spot & was late to get the drop before someone got it & ran, it was a great experience all around. got to compare notes with the culver city group and hang out at the tron popup shop as our base of operations. Smile

to those who just went to the electrify page, don't forget -if you log into to hello flynn and enter the code from the pager, you get the final badge on flynn lives. Smile

The only real downside I see is that some dick on facebook posted the information about the free screening. I personally think that the information should have been sent in the mail and if you did not have a pass you do not get in.

I posted it at first but then everyone was angry about it being first come, first serve so I deleted my comment about 5 minutes later so I wouldn't get comments like this.

You know the Flynn Lives page is probably going to post it anyway. And so are some blogs. And people on Twitter.

It's not going to be able to stay secret, I guess is what I'm saying. People get excited about free stuff

Brave chap to admit that you blasted about the free show on FB. Of course it is going to leak out, but I would hope that it wouldn't be an UnFictioner

Are you saying that I'm terrible because I posted a link which was readily available on multiple sites anyway? One would only need to search "Flynn Lives" on Twitter or just come to the Unfiction forums to find out. It's not like you need to register here to see information.

And anyway, if you had actually read what I wrote besides "...I posted it at first..." I said I deleted it.

You honestly didn't need to attack me. It was uncalled for.

OK feeling slightly better now... after reviewing the swag of mine that's still there (my sister passed the stickers and space paranoids pins out... still have the postcards, arcade aid pins and the encom badge.)

After being embarrassingly invested in the TDK ARG, I sat this one out until today (wow I forgot I had a login!) and the online component was actually very cool! What I want to know is how they code all that stuff! Laughing

Although I'm still disappointed for you guys that the screening is first-come first-serve for the general public. I certainly think that long-time players should have priority over a chump like me.

Anita, you're no chump! I, too, was incredibly invested in the TDK ARG, and I wonder if I hadn't gone through that, would this ending feel any less disappointing in comparison. Don't get me wrong, I think the phone/website interaction was cool, but the screening is a slap in the face, and I can't help but reflect on how much more character driven and experiential the TDK ARG was.

I feel like any narrative conflict present in this Tron campain was squeezed from a franchise that didn't really support it as currently exists. The uniting of resources to allow for the pager messages that launches the movie's plot is cool, it also feels like what it is: constructed to be an ARG experience rather than a necessary part of the story that happens to be told through ARG. TDK never felt so transparent.

The point was to have fun which I'm pretty sure we all did

I have a 6-spool industrial embroidery machine. Big hoss of a thing.

If people want to provide me with large vector files of the buttons (4 inches) I'd be willing to make patches for around 5-7 dollars.

Well I'm a chump in regards to this game. Laughing

That's one thing I'm a little leery about when it comes to the current mainstream popularity of ARGs. Every big movie is expected to have one, but more often than not, the film isn't suitable and thus the campaign doesn't reach its true ARG potential. TDK was lightning in a bottle in that regard - the storyline was perfect and 42E was on top of their game.

But counting woulda, coulda, shouldas never helped anyone in life. Smile It isn't about the game or the swag anyway, it's about community and participation. For TDK I actually missed the window for screening tickets and I had multiple people cover me because I was very entrenched in that community.

I think that's the main reason why the general screening as an endgame stings so much - you're a tightknit group of longtime players and you deserve to experience the final result as a community because you've shared so many experiences.

But yeah, Disney's main goal is just to ramp up Tron hype. Laughing They don't care about experiences. Only thing we can do is enjoy what we can participate in and not regret what we can't.

We should look into it again. I was giving our prototypes away as I met fellow UFers, they all loved them.

I agree with you on all counts my man. It's a crying shame we have to wait until the general populace release date though. Still, BFI IMAX awaits me on the 17th, and I will enjoy that all the same, if not better by actually knowing I have a seat Smile

What showing do you have? Me and a couple other Londonites have got the 6:10pm showing, gonna grab a beer with them - you up for it?

Lol, well im finishing uni that day, so I could only get the 11:30 showing, so I doubt I shall be around for you to see, unless it would be after your showing and before mine Very Happy
