I know the safe may no longer be a factor at all, but should it come into play again I have a possible solve. I went back and watched the vid where he punched in the codes and then read through this thread and saw no mention of the idea I got.

How about the first number of each of his attempts?

How could he have set the password as four random numbers he hadn't typed yet?

I admit it's a stretch. It would lend some credibility that he set it during his lapse knowing the first few numbers ahead of time that he would "guess" when he woke up (birthdays, numbers important to him in his past, etc). I didn't say it was a great idea, just one I thought of.

The combination was 1102. Jay found it written on a note in Jessica's room. The safe contained tapes. As of entry 33 this puzzle is now solved.

Just noticed J´s room nuber was 211. The code was (sort of) staring at us in the face the whole time. Oh well...
