Oh absolutely, and I loved every minute of it! I plan on seeing it again tonight if possible...

Anyways, that's all minor quibbling and I loved the film, those are some of the things that just stuck out to me post-film.

Didn't you know? You're not supposed to think when you watch this movie.
Razz

Srsly, I think anyone trying to rationalize this movie will be the ones inclined to rate it low.

I have to agree. Tron, like Doctor Who, is more fantasy than it is sci-fi. They intentionally avoid getting technical, there just isn't enough time to explore all those details. We get the idea enough that we should be able to enjoy the ride. I'd be fascinated to see a tv series on the Tron world, which would inevitably explore those concept, but I'm not sure that it would be for the better to do so.

That being said, Tron deals with the philosophical implications of situations way more than something like Avatar did. I do appreciate that part of it. Sure, you can hand wave away the laser, but that's the hallmark of all sci fi (transporter, time machine, space folding, your choice). Sure, at some point someone tries to explain it, but mostly it's just a given that you can travel faster than light, transport across space, etc, without too much technical detail. I see Tron like that, and in that, it's pretty true to its sci fi roots.

My thoughts

Just a some thoughts about Tron Legacy

Flynn IS The Dude
Rinzler IS Tron
Tron Fights for the users.
The Door, I've seen bigger.

The effects are mind blowing.
The soundtrack is best heard in a cinema of in a sound proof room with extra bass.

If there's a sequel to this one, count me in.
Any fan of Tron will love Legacy.

Tron Guy Reviews Tron Legacy, Says Almost Drove Him to Tears

Tron Guy likes it!

Here, at last, was the result of all the hard work, massive computing resources and money spent on bringing the Tron universe to a new generation. I walked in, expecting to be blown away both from what I'd seen before and from what I knew about the production.

I was not disappointed.

On the grid, my disbelief is fully suspended.
Technical issues in the real world are another matter. Especially when they relate to the primary subject matter. This movie did have a few, but nothing truly glaring for me.
From a technical production perspective, it's epic. A few physics glitches, but mostly human-centric oddities.
But the story... meh.
I wonder if Bonnie (And her husband, Alan) would take time off from her acting to help with the story for the next one?

And I agree, that door didn't take nearly long enough to open.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I was a fan of the different themes in the movie, especially the religious aspect of it. They take the classic creation vs evolution idea into the movie with Flynn and the ISOs. Also, the struggle between good and evil and whether or not CLU was actually evil considering he was following his programming for the most part.

Seeing how well they integrated some different themes, I will be looking forward to the remake of Blackhole which has some amazing themes itself. If the director can do such a satisfying job with this movie, I think he can do the same there.

First off YES YES YES YES YES...I can't wait to see it again tomorrow. It was fun and a exciting ride. The ARG defiantly added to my enjoyment of the film. I felt like all of the back/inner story that we received helped MAIN LINE me right in. (Besides of course loving the original since I was 3) The visuals, sound, score AMAZING. Over all the story played out more as an ACT 1 then a sequel. Making me even more of a Tron junkie left wanting more. I NEED MY NEXT FIX Cool...I'm stuck on what more i can say, so let me just some it up with... Brownie Brownie Brownie Brownie Brownie Brownie Brownie Very Happy Very Happy

Just got back from London BFI IMAX, it was sooo worth the long trip (in the snow).
I really enjoyed Tron Legacy and i will certainly be seeing it again soon.
I highly recommend you see it at an IMAX, the 43mins of BIG screen looked great.
As CherokeeParkes said, Flynn IS The Dude Cool Wink

Slightly off topic:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Was I the only one who wasn't sure that Quorra would survive coming into out world? Also when Sam was putting on the necklace with the chip on it (before seeing Quorra) thought it was her? It makes sense she would be different from the normal programs and could essentially be a human, and I feel like normal programs would be something like a DVD or a chip...

Well, after the end of the movie, and talking about it with my boy friend, I imagine Clu's army probably would have basically been like the millions of AOL cds that basically used to be forced onto people, lol

Now, I know in canon, they would have probably been able to manifest bodies upon coming out of the grid, but the AOL cd thing is just funnier Razz

Just for giggles...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Can you imagine the chaos that would've ensued had Clu marched his entire army into 'the real world' at once? Hundreds or thousands of programs, instantly materializing in the real world... in the basement of a small arcade. Can you say claustrophobia? Very Happy

Cool Just fresh back from seeing TL in REAL 3D at my local newly opened 'CineBistro' Cool . Very Happy Shocked All I can say is that I...am....speechless Shocked Very Happy . Lisberger, Kosinski, Kitsis, Horowitz, Klugman & Sternthal.....as a longtime Tron fan, THANK YOU for giving us FINALLY a sequel of such stellar respect and honor to the original Tron that repeated viewings are a MUST! This made my 2010....Mother fucking period!!!!! Sorry for that slight expletive, but it is justified in my eyes given the grandeur was just beholden too. Honors all around programs!!! ....END OF LINE...

P.S. Confused Only one little minuscule issue....what a shitty short time we had with Castor/Zeus, they could have had him around a little longer....oh well, they can bring him back for the expected sequels Confused

You're not the only one. I thought so too. And I wanted that to be the case, but noooo
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
they had to make her human
I found that a bit silly, to be honest, and I'm disappointed that they went down that path.

Okay, so am I the only one who found it ABSOLUTELY RETARDED that Jordan Flynn was mentioned only once? I thought the entire reason Kevin was going into the grid was because he was trying to recreate her. Or am I crazy?
