Oh, one of the most fun uses of a Wilhelm scream ever. Smile

Aw really? I missed it! Man, I can usually pick those out instantly. I must have been too engrossed in the movie this time, hehe. Don't say where it is (or spoiler it), I want to pick it out tomorrow Smile

I'm 90 it was there, but it's pretty obscured. I'll give you a small hint. It's post Solar Sailer in the film.
I heard the scream as well but didn't think it was a Wilhelm scream, though the sound mixing was done at Skywalker Sound, so who knows Smile

It's hard to catch, so I'll be eager to listen for it on my further viewings. But I could be wrong, I realize. I'm definitely not 100% on it.

Nah, I'm totally with you. I heard it and immediately pegged it as a Wilhelm.

Did any of you guys see anything about Cillian Murphy playing baby Dillenger?

That kinda surprised me.

Ditto, A "OH MY GOD WHATS HE DOING THERE" moment. And if his role in all of it wasn't foreshadowing of a potential sequel? ..... C'mon.

This may or may not have been mentioned here already, but I'm going to post it (in spoiler tags) anyway; but this does tie into the ARG:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
In the movie, when Sam finds the device used to enter Cyberspace, it shows that it had been active for eight days. Looking from the release date of the movie (December 17, 2010), what did we do in the ARG eight days before?

Not 8 days from Monday, but 8 Days from official release date to everyone. Think about it Very Happy

If anyone out there is an architecture student, there was apparently a massive amount of research that went into the movie. I know absolutely jack about architecture myself, but my friend tells me that the whole thing was an architect's dream come true, similar to what Inception was.~

Look for a lot of influence from 50's-60's era Modernism, and pay super-close attention to the design and the furniture in Kevin Flynn's little hideaway on the Grid.

Also, expect things to be made out of glass. Lots of things. Including the people. Because even this wannabe writer here knows that Glass is the go-to material for instantly making a building's design look cool. Razz

Are you referring to Flynn's hideout looking like the room from 2001 or something else?

Not a huge thing, but watch for Steven Lisberger (writer/director of the original Tron) as the bartender at the End Of The Line Club. Nice little cameo, just wanted to mention it in case no one else did.

I mentioned in another post... but I saw at least 4 or 5 things that I felt were TOTALLY homages to Blade runner, including a particular riff in Daft Punk's score... perhaps I'm reading into things, but they seemed blatant tributes to me...

Nope, you're not imagining it... or if you are, I am too Laughing
Seeing/hearing two of my favourite films in a mash-up homage-y way was epically cool Very Happy

Oh another thing I noticed for which I let out a spontaneous squee - Watch for the End Of Line Club coaster Very Happy awesome. That just added a little value to the coasters handed out this year at sdcc, I think Cool

A few homages I noticed...

One obvious one, loved it when Kevin showed little Sam the Tron figure and he did the "Bom Bom Bom, Bom... Boooooom" Wendy Carlos cue.

Also, there were two sound design nods I noticed in the light cycle scene. One, before the cycles got started, there was the countdown sound from the original (as well as the game). And when the cycles went over the arrow patterns, there was an original arcade sound present.

There seemed to be quite a few for Star Wars as well.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
My favorite was Flynn reprogramming one of the programs along the lines of force mind trick, then having to whack him across the head for the reprogram to kick in.

I saw so many things that we saw in the arg. I totally felt like I was part of the movie. From all the symbols and logos, to the coaster, to the arcade, and i loved the end of line club. almost identical to san diego CC. Awsome!!

It was fun seeing all the ARG elements peppered throughout TL. There's the obvious inclusion of the 89 symbol on the back of Sam's motorcycle helmet. I noticed that his apartment was made from a Dumont shipping container. Dumont being the Tower Guardian from the original film.
One of my favourite "easter eggs" was the addition of Dillinger Jnr. I've read complaints that this is an obvious set up for a potential second sequel. I have no trouble with this at all.

I have a bit of a chicken/egg quandry about the symbols and items we saw n the film that were prominent in the ARG events. The 'sector' being basically a EOLC coaster with a middle seemed like something the ARG folks got to make based on knowledge of things in the film. We also knew about a new version of Encom OS, something never really talked about in the trailers or lead up to the film. What I really wonder about is the 89 Forever logo - there was nothing specifically said about it in the film. No explanation (which of course we DID get in the ARG). That symbol appeared at a VERY early point in the ARG, so I tend to wonder if that was created more for the ARG and incorporated into the film as a nod.

I wondered the same thing. I seem to recall they finished filming back in 2009 and spent most of 2010 working on the FX? While it would be cool if elements of the ARG found their way into the movie, I think it was more about Studio Marketing feeding 42 Entertainment assets from the movie and 42 Entertainment going to town with them.

However it was done, being part of the ARG really made viewing the movie a richer experience for me.

I completely geeked out when I saw the credit at the end to Hall H! I think I heard my voice in the crowd in the disc wars sequence! Laughing
