Tracker;

I agree about the monkey pin/brooch being unlikely for AM, unless it held some VERY special significance to him--I mean why stir up the pot unless there's a good reason, right? I'm not sure if it was Rocket or superVIII that posted a negative that did resemble a question mark (which seems appropriate for this ARG), though Simplicity stated it resembled a caduceus (or possibly what it's usually confused with, the rod of Asclepius, also known as the asklepian).

Who knows what it is, but there may be of some importance to it. Wink

judging from his height. he seems more likely to be the taller Researcher

for future reference

If it is Richard Jenkins than he has to be on the second photo. He's 6'1" tall (IMDB).

On the other hand, the height chart behind the men in the torn photos might have been altered or moved to make the character taller than the actor. I recall that in an old "Sherlock Holmes" movie with Basil Rathbone, there was an American actor who was very short, but the director wanted him to look taller. He stood on boxes whenever he was next to the other characters, to make him look taller. When he walked, the camera panned back and a taller double walked away.

So there's a chance that the character is taller than the actor.

In the 50's and 60's, racism was definitely prevalent, and it wasn't until the 70's where we begin to see some actual tolerance. So if this picture was taken in the 70's it would make since for a black man to be able to have a job as a scientist working for the government, like Area 51 for example. I bet the people working for Area 51 were some of the first people to see how pointless racism was, because they had seen aliens etc., and knew they viewed us as 1 race. Or something along those lines... just a theory.

Also, to say that race shouldn't matter, is only something we can say now in modern times. But to say it shouldn't matter to this ARG's purpose is kinda ignorant. This game is set in the 70's (or at least we think sometime around this period) where racism was still going on, just not as much. I think having a black man working in Area 51 would be a big deal, at least to most people back then.

P.S. Writings a bit off today... I just woke up.

jOSH'S DAD

Josh's dad can and is most likely the black man in the photo. But race aside, you're correct about scientists and race. When it came to science no one cared about the color of their skin, just in their brain. But even in fantasy land there were still points and contention. Even in the best of high society the balck man although intellectually equal was still lower.

Getting off the race card. I went back and did some research on the craigs list items. Again, the cactus cookie jar was common. The soap dish swan also common. The dress is hard to tack down but nonetheless a common pattern and color for the 50's. The items I could not locate were the sled and the monkey brooch. I search sled both american and european. None I found matched the picture of the craigs list sled. The same for the monkey brooch. It too was unique. I found many broochs/pins but none the same. The horse clock is a Sessions clock. I found it in many places but none exactly like the one picturd on craigs list. The horse saddle was slightly different and so was the base of the mantle clock. The original had a more ornate base. Also, the horse was not painted in the colors.

I guess I'm bored until the next phase of this dragging game kicks in. But if I were hiding something my bet would be in the base of the mantle clock.

just a theory

I was wondering why a biospeleologist would have a Nellis Air Force Base ID badge so I did a bit of googling and found this interview with a geo scientist who works at Yucca mountain, dealing with the nuclear waste. It's scary stuff but it would appear that Yucca mountain is on one of Nellis Air Force's testing ranges:

I guess that could be a possible reason for him to have a Nellis Air Force ID badge (?)

So Josh's Dad is the one who says the, "Do not speak of this...", line? Looks like the same actor, Glynn Turman.

Yes, seems very likely to me.

Did anyone work out what's in the left middle of the photo? Looks like it's in the foreground, is it a finger?

Also seems like when he is saying that line, he is under some sort of duress. Almost like he's been injured. Perhaps he's a scientist who has been helping the kids protect their secret?

The Yucca Mountain idea is a good possibility to consider. I also still wonder if there could be a Greenland/Arctic connection.

Also at the same site as your link is a link about the Camp Century Project Iceworm and the underground city in Greenland that I mentioned in a different thread at
http://bldgblog.blogspot.com/2011/01/project-iceworm.html

The following link is to a website by Frank J. Leskovitz - Science Leads the Way, which has interesting links about Camp Century and one for the Coelacanth (which has an additional link to Coelacanth News) at
http://www.scienceleadstheway.com/

The next two links are to an Amazing Caves website that talks about life in ice caves in Greenland and to NASA's Astrobiology Magazine that talks about Greenland holding clues to life being established on earth.

Also - do you think the person in this crop from the screenshot from the Super Bowl ad could be Glynn Turman?

I was referring to the pic in Rocket Mountaineer's post. I know who Glynn Turman is, which is why I thought that was his voice in the first place.
