 Puzzle Card Forum Guidelines - PLEASE READ

Please make sure that card threads conform to these guidleines:

- [PUZZLE/SOLVED] #000 Colour - Title of Puzzlecard
- one thread per card
- please include images/links to images of both sides in your opening post (if the back is a map piece, PLEASE post it to the Map Pieces thread): no larger than 300x450 pixels; you can include blown-up images of "puzzle areas" or areas of small detail and transcribed text
EDIT 7/12/05 - MindCandy has changed their scanning guidelines: http://www.mindcandydesign.com/clients/index.html
No high-resolution scanning will be allowed AT ALL - no enlargements, no blow-ups of smaller areas, nada.

Please limit the talk in this forum strictly to card-related issues: puzzles, purchasing, trading, scoring etc. All the storyline/general speculation talk should go into General/Updates.

There are also two other great cataloguing resources available: BriEnigma's awesome Card Catalogue; and NikDoof's wiki section.

EDIT: included link to Map Pieces thread. yanka.

I have 2 requests. Neither are urgent.

The fFirst is easy: could someone scan in the various signatures of the Cube retreival project people? Von, Kurt, Tippy, all those. we may not have seen them all yet, but i would like to put them on the wiki. something nice and pretty, a little high res, would be appreciated. Just a clean, zoom in on the signature. struck due to new scanning policy

The second, is a little more .. work. The cards do have other text on them. scores, values, authors, artists, all this. somewhere in the puzzle card thread, could someone mention all of this as well? It isnt detremental, but it would be very nice to have noted.

Is it really necessary to always scan the reverse of the cards? About half of the ones I have are just the same image of Sente and the instructions, and the map cards would probably work best in their own thread.

My gaff with the back of #155 nonwithstanding.

Whatever you would like, guys. Smile We can change guidelines. Let someone know if you need another forum or resource to take care of all this stuff.

I'm sure it'll get done sometime, but i'm a little weird when it comes to things like this...

could the next moderator that sees this slap some solve tags onto the thread titles? that would be appreciated, thanks.

Just to note, I'm posting some of the cards I have that don't need the pictures to solve as I don't have access to a scanner till Monday. I hope this is OK, Pictures will be posted shortly.

I'm a little bit hesitant to put "solved" on anything except maybe the easy/red cards. Some of them are pretty complex and have answers that may be multiple layers deep. For instance, #112:Three Little Words, do we stop once we have all of the languages down, or is there a next step? I think until we have a leaderboard (which will grant points for correct answers, thereby proving/disproving the "solved" status), it might not be so great to just start marking things arbitrarily as solved.

I agree, I think when it comes to [SOLVED] it should be tested first....

I thought that scans of both sides were necessary so that we could keep collecting new map pieces. If you guys would rather post them to the Map Pieces thread, then plese let us know, and we'll change the guideline. Basically, just let us know what you would prefer to do, and we'll just do that Very Happy Oh, also keep in mind that new backs do not necessarily have to consist of new map pieces (there might be other pictures of Sente or something)

I've already posted my map backs to that thread, for what it's worth.

GIVEN:

  • We dont seem to be laden with puzzles;
  • The map backs are a sort of large puzzle on their own;
  • Not every puzzle card will have a map back, many are nothing interesting

It sounds like a good idea to put map pieces in the puzzle fForum, under the maps heading. That may lead to an excessively large thread as more pieces come in. or it might not. we'll worry about that when we get there.

So, I'm supportting the proposition of using the "puzzle card" fForum fFor card fFronts, and the "Map Pieces" thread fFor backs.

Or, let's fFollow Flidget Jerome's example. it is a good one.

Another request:

Not that I'm fussy or anything, but could the black and yellow (or green, depending on your point of view) card sections be put in the right order from the back of the cards? I'm sorry, I get confused easily. I think the structure for the forums is great, btw, as someone who has already said that I get confused easily, it helps me sort everything out nicely. Thank you.

Edited: Thank you!

Bumping thread as MindCandy has changed the scanning guidelines for the Puzzle Cards:

http://www.mindcandydesign.com/clients/index.html
No high-resolution scanning will be allowed AT ALL - no enlargements, no blow-ups of smaller areas, nada.
