[OT] MH Halloween

So, first, hi. I'mma noob. Yell at me if I did something wrong here, da? I'm a friendly fellow.

I want to see some Halloween costumes based around MH, though. So all of you who took the plunge of playing something that would probably not be recognized (One group of young 20-somethings obviously from the Internet were the only ones to recognize myself and the various Slenderman related things I had out), I want a pic of your costume! Please, of course.

I'll start with mine.

I have a thing for Masky. Not like a, I want to do naughty things thing. More of a... "Holy crap, that's stretched so far beyond creepy its become an adorable rock-wielding maniac thing" thing. So, given the fact that I couldn't make stilts and tailor up a suit in time for the season this year (too much busy work), I tossed together a Masky for myself. Not a very ... good one. For one, couldn't find that shirt, so I used my comfy hoody. It was warm. For another, even though I know where I can get a more similar mask to his, I didn't have the ability to travel three hours to get it. So I overpayed 7 bucks for a cruddy Spirit Halloween mask that I had to chop up a bit and edit to get it to even look /remotely/ like dear little Masky. And finally? I had decided, originally, not to celebrate Halloween this year. My haunted house was shut down, and I just wasn't in the mood. I did all this on the 30th.

First, the costume.

Didn't have the mask set properly, and my BF neglected to get this pose without the flash. Demn :/

And the (poorly lit) pumpkin. At this point I was down to my last two candles in the thing, I need to invest in better candles.

My tactic was sitting very still in an obscured area of my front porch, with the candy bowl some five feet in front of me, on the lit up area of the porch. When people spotted the bowl, and stared at me long enough to go "Yeah, its still. Its not real, its a prop," they generally got lost in trying to find their favorite candies amongst my selection. In their distraction, I'd get to all fours and crouch walk closer and closer to them, til they were staring straight into my black little eyes. I had a lot of screams, people too afraid to come get candy, and... AND! I even got to tackle someone. Some snot teens tried to steal my candy bowl after returning to it some four times, greedily taking more and more. The guy that snatched the dish, got the pleasure of being chased down and tackled by meMasky, and then left on the ground while I retrieved my stash (ark?). No, I didn't rock anyone. And no... I didn't break my leg.

So? *grabby hands* Lemme see yours.

AHAHAHAHA that's awesome dude. Very Happy You should've had a video camera running so you could share the lolz with the world.

Also I'm glad no one hit you with cement. That would've have been sad. XD

Unfortunately I didn't do anything MH-related. Dressed up as River Tam. No one got the reference. (And I didn't even have any hipster glasses to put on after realizing this.)

I went as a terrible last minute Timasky. The only thing that made it different from the scream mask was my died black hair and extremely long sideburns. I'll post a picture later.

Thankfully, the part of town I live in currently doesn't have much loose cement or brick really anywhere nearby. And darnit, now I REALLY wish I did have a video camera running!

River Tam? Awesome costume D: Sheesh, its sad that no one got her. Legit show and all that.

Man, I wish I had sideburns. I totally rock an undercut, and its dyed slightly red. I didn't have time to make some fake sideburns (I need to some day just make a collection of those, I cosplay so many guys), and I tried to style the undercut as close as I could to TiMasky's hair. Was hard as hell!

I love it! I didn't have anyone to play my Operator. I'm going to work on one for myself, though, with stilts and arm extenders. Then just use it when times are opportune for creeping, like I use my Pyramid Head costume.

I also like the name of that image. Yes.jpg... totally agree. Call me strange, call me bored, call me nuts. But to be stalked... damn, I would have a blast. A really scary and confusing blast, but such a blast.

Also ee, you have notes. I made some as well, and sprangled them around my porch with a plush rabbit that had the eyes ripped out. The neighbors had left a bunch of kid toys out, so I had to find a way to make that look more creepy.

Edit: Did you get called she at all? I did. A lot. And while I am small, I had everything bound up and not noticable. Wasn't sure if it was the mask, or just people somehow seeing through it all.

Yeah, it's amazing how a simple perspective trick can turn a 6 foot teenager standing on an ottoman into an 8 foot monster standing in the doorway. We made the pages after a chick with an Irish accent told our Slendy that she collected all of his pages, but he didn't come after her. She sounded really disappointed. After that, we had a sudden realization of "Holy crud, we need pages!" We also had the Subspace Highway theme from the Scott Pilgrim game blasting on repeat as our distortion sound. As for being called she, that didn't happen once.

I didn't have an MH costume, but I DID run into tall, dark, and slender in my dorm room hallway last night. I snagged a pic and will upload it tomorrow.

I had the last-ditch idea to do a Marble Hornets theme with some friends...but it fell through first because we're po' & then because Sandy hit, & who the fuck wanted to go out in that shit?

Looking at this thread, I'm kinda glad it did. I'd feel like such an unoriginal tool, with my cheap-ass Hoody costume.

Shoulda done it anyways. I did, and Sandy came to see me. Also. Aw ow. As we say in the haunt business, isn't the price or originality of the costume, its the personality you put behind it. Seen people in expensive and original costumes have absolutely no effect, because they had no personality. Dull. Not fun. And I've seen people wrap themselves up in toilet paper to be a mummy, and be the creepiest person at the entire event.

I'm a pale brunette with long messy hair. The costume was practically a given. XD I saw people glance at my boots, and I think they thought I was trying to be a hooker...awkward... Rolling Eyes

It probably wouldn't have been good. It looks like Hoody's face cover is stitched into his hood, & I doubt that I, personally, would have been able to replicate it.

When I was in college, one of the dorms I stayed in was cruddy and run down. The lighting in particlar was awful. The atmosphere -- cold worn cinder bricks and flickering flourescents -- made scaring people excruciatingly easy AND fun. Man, how I wish Slenderman had been a thing then. He would have made a great costume to add to my arsenal. My dorm-mates hated me so much. Especially when they were drunk or high.

Awesome pictures, thanks a ton for sharing! <3
