On a serious note here's my theory.

This takes place right after entry 38, at the end of that entry J is changing the camera, well he was doing that Alex, I noticed moved towards him. As entry 50 begins, Alex attempts to kill J. J is able by luck of intervention of paranormal forces able to stop Alex. In the fight he accidentally kills Alex.
That would explain the shock, grief, guilt he appears to feel.

Later on he feels like bringing a unknown force telling him to bring Alex's body deep into the woods. He brings Alex to the tunnel but first looks around the tunnel, starting entry 29's events. The Operator removes him of his memory's and takes the body.

Hear I have thought of two theories to explain the hotel. The Operator brought J there or the more likely of the two, Tim brings J there with the Tapes.

The entry ends with the last tape J has, in it The Ark is revealed.

J say's he gives up at the end of the entry because of guilt, but season 3 reveals he has been drawn back in.

I seriously doubt Alex tries to kill Jay. I have to play angel's advocate here. Troseph can go either way with it anyway.

I think Jay is genuinely bummed by what Alex shows him. It's a dead person--Bruce.

Honestly, they've been telegraphing Alex's "heel turn" (to borrow a wrestling term) so hard, I'd be a little sad if it just ended up being "Alex is evil! The Operator controls him! Jay has to stop him!" This whole season since Alex showed up, they've been highlighting how sinister he is. It's just constantly been "Alex is bad, guys!" "What's up with Alex, guys?" "Did you see what Alex did, guys? Doesn't look good." "I'm a derpy ninja, btw Alex is bad guys." If it's not some kind of feigned heel turn/swerve in the works, I'd honestly lose respect for Troy and Joseph as storytellers.

But I'm almost certain they'll LOST it up for all of us.

To me it looks like there's something between the foliage Jay could reach back and touch behind him and the canopy of leaves the sun is shining through further back. It's more white than the green leaves, darker than the sky, and lighter than the canopy. I can see why someone would decide it isn't--it's a tricky shot. But I see it and I choose to believe. Wink

And yes, am excite!

After hours of effort and a mild nosebleed, I came up with an idea on how 29, 38, and 49 all fit:

The ending of 49 directly precedes 38, which is filmed the next day when Jay meets Alex at Rosswood Park. At the end of 38 Alex does look like he is making a violent movement toward Jay. The space between 38 and 29 could go one of two ways:
1) Alex's move towards Jay is to attack and/or kill him, but he is unsuccessful for some reason (perhaps a Team Masky-intervention) so Jay either escapes or is left unconscious.
2) Alex sees someone (again, possibly the Maskies) about to sucker-punch Jay, rushes to his defense, and in the ensuing fight flees from or chases after Masky-Mask and the Funky Bunch (the "Alex dies" theory seems like a stretch, but anything is possible).

*This also may explain the latest tweet from Troy; a possible reaction to whatever happened after 38 ended.

At any rate, the first segment of footage in 29 (running through Rosswood at dusk) was probably shot right after one of the two proposed attacks, and Jay (not confirmed, but for the sake of coherence assume the camera-person is Jay) is the one filming. The second part of 29 is still a mystery, but if it is the next event in the timeline Jay is most likely still the cameraman (if the second part is unrelated to the first, then someone else was in possession of both the chest-cam and the camcorder). If Jay is the cameraman, the ending of 29 is his ill-advised investigation of The Operator's Creepy Tunnel of Meat-Snacks (a return to par for the course in terms of Jay's stupidity).

So...yeah. My thoughts...such as they are...(x)

I dunno, I think his expression is similar to that of when he was in his "trance" in Return. Maybe he's Slendy-hypnotized? It's the same dead-eyed look.
