You're not alone. I don't think he killed Jessica either, seemed more like a sign that he's still fighting sickness. If Jessica died it'd probably been more obvious.

Relax, I don't think he killed Jessica with the intention to kill himself. I interpret 87 as being an older tape that Masky uploaded now that it was safe to reveal Jessica's survival.

Although, I can give a good case for that having happened. I'm pretty sure that's the point: anything could be possible. I could probably submit an argument that Jay really is alive.

What doesn't make sense to me is that we were all pretty sure that Entry 87 was to be the final word, especially after they said that Marble Hornets is over. So why doesn't the Tweet say something like, "Last Entry"?

If they pull a move where we get a surprise entry, I'm either going to kick their asses or hug them.

inorit?

I already made a poll asking how people took the ending & I was already annoyed with all of the "Is it or isn't it?" stuff. It's like Hoody all over again.

But I don't like to give absolutes when it comes to fiction. Who knows, maybe another Entry could be a serious improvement?

I'm on your boat too.

This is so true.

So it would be wrong to say "If trosephim says it's the end, it's the end" then?

It seems obvious that the ending was intended to be ambiguous. There's a reason the camera cuts out when Tim starts coughing. There's a reason that we don't see which direction Tim heads in. It's for us to decide. Individually, we are to decide whether he goes left, and makes an effort to repress the Operator and live a normal life (in which case, he obviously didn't kill Jessica), or we are to decide that he went right, into the woods, and became a puppet of the Operator (in which case, he obviously did kill Jessica). The coughing fit Tim suffers is evidence that the mask is inconsequential. Whether or not his face is covered, whether or not he's pointing a camera at everything, he has a disease he'll have to fight for the rest of his life, and the signpost represents the two ultimate choices he has - to fight it, or be consumed by it. If you ask me, it's a genius and subtle ending - one that might be appreciated later more than it is now.

I'm starting to think that this is the perspective that we're supposed to be taking with respect to the ending. It may not be the ending we wanted, but I think looking back we might actually find that it was better than we gave it credit for at the time (as much as it pains me to say so). I think this is the point where Commissioner James Gordon would say something like:

Quote:
It's the ending the fandom deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hate it.

^^ "Because they can take it."

But all joking aside, while I'm truly not thrilled with the ending, with a little time to cool down and reflect on the ending in the context of the series as a whole, I admit I just might come to see things your way, Bulb. It's like the classic story of a genius ending to a novel ahead of its time that no one appreciates until the author is dead -- but for Troy, Joseph and Tim's sake, let's hope it doesn't come to that. Razz

So, here's to waiting for the day of that epiphany. And I actually do hope that it comes one day.

It's just up to what type of person you are and what you like. If you like ambiguity so you can go nuts with head canon then this is the ending for you. It's the type of ending that allows everyone to right! Everyone's ideas of what Tim did are right because nothing is concrete.

And if you like that sort of thing, that's cool.

Personally, I hate it. I like concrete endings because concrete endings take guts. The kind of guts in which you realize some people are going to be unhappy, but you do it anyway.

It's unfortunate that we didn't get that kinda entry. I still love the series, but I don't like the ending.

Didn't the thacboys say that the new series will be on the my channel? If so the 44 may be a reference to it.

If not... Well, things are about to get interesting...

totheark's last video was on February 20th, 2014. I have a feeling this may be of relevance soon enough.
