 		does anyone have any clue what this arg is for?
if they are asking us to design "weapons" or devices, could it be for a video game of some type?
thoughts?

Yeah, I've kind of been wondering that myself. It's kind of an odd ARG thus far, imo. I cannot yet imagine the endgame.

Well, the place has plenty of rich supernatural history (read: Croatoan). If they plan things right (like on a weekend), a visit to the area might be possible.

I think we can assume that this was a test to figure out level of passive versus active involvement, how much effort people would put in, and the time frame between call to action and player response.

As an ARG n00b I'm actually finding it very enjoyable. I think a major barrier to getting involved in ARGs is the presumption that there will be lots of messing about with code breaking, audio analysis etc. This has more of the feel of a play-by-email RPG.

I'm sure that as the game progresses the tasks will become more classically ARGish in nature, but I really enjoyed the first task. There's also a good chance that the PMs will be using the work we generated to develop later parts of the plot line - nothing like having your own research turn around and bite you on the ass Wink

 		I think the first tweet went out approx 1 hour after the fire had started. More the PMs reacting quickly to integrate the fire into Saver Corp events than coincidence.

Coincidence? I don't know what to call it. This is the second real life scenario that has been integrated into the game rather quickly. Either this is just a game designed to react to actual OOG events in realtime or we're working with a very diabolical PM.

I received this email, except there was only 3 hours remaining when I first read it.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
There has been a situation.

Please monitor the news for any information regarding a hotel fire in Roanoke Virginia today. SAVER agents were near, or may have even been involved with events that occurred there earlier.

We need a press release written up in time to be posted by midnight tonight essentially stating that any suggested relationship between the fire and our agents is false. If you need to mention Jared Hoits twitter messages (@SAVER_Jared) regarding the situation, do so, but only to claim that he was mistaken; that we have agents coming in next Monday, and that none were expected today.

Also, feel free to use Eric Newolds message (@ericnewold) correcting Jared in anyway you can, including rewording it.

Wait as late as you can to submit the Press Release so you can be sure to have any released information from the news. We are working on scene to cover this, and we would like that cover to be repeated.

Again, get what you can to be by midnight (EST) tonight. That's in approx 7 hours from the time of this message. It doesn't have to be long or pretty, but it needs to be done.

I'm really enjoying the whole feel of this.
I like that world events are incorporated.
The urgency of the task was also fun, although I would have loved the 7 hours to polish the wording more.
