The possibility that these messages are forged has already been raised. If it were a real Blackberry message, that would require access to either Jared's BB, or RIM servers. Of course, this is an ARG, so I'm not really sure how realistic we are supposed to think it is. Jared practicing bad OPSEC and leaving his phone unlocked somewhere seems more likely anyhow.

if this were true, however, Jared should have been able to see those messages. He claims that he did not send them, and in fact looked through his phone to see if anything had been tampered with and found nothing. Therefore, if messages were sent on his phone, they would have had to be deleted before Jared got back to his phone. Because of the time stamps, we know that this had to take place over 35 minutes (from 2:11 to 2:46 pm January 14). Whoever this person was, they would have to be colluding with the owner of the other phone somehow.

The only other things we have to 'place' Jared are his tweets and his board posts. Interestingly, he made zero tweets on Jan 14, just on the 13th and the 15th. Also, we have no board posts prior to Jan 19th.

We therefore cannot use his digital footprint to account for his whereabouts, so to speak. We don't know anything about the security of Saver offices, so we can't make any educated guesses as to the probability of someone getting to his phone. We also cannot account for the probability that someone at Saver just outright made these messages up as we cannot verify the authenticity of the messages. And we don't have access to the person they caught or anyone else on-scene. Jared claims that he has some more pertinent information on the company servers, but that he can't access it anymore.

In short, we don't know jack.

Going to fire off a short email to Victoria to see how she's doing. Perhaps she, and possibly Mike, can help.

Additionally, because I had nowhere to put this, Eric told us that Jared smokes. Jared says he doesn't smoke and doesn't know why Eric said that.

I for one don't think we've seen the last of Jared, but getting in touch with us is going to prove somewhat difficult now unless Victoria acts as a go between.

On an OOC level, this is a weird development. Unless Jared comes back later, this feels very unresolved. I'm not even sure who won, or for that matter, who the PMs thought we should want to win. Hrm.

as far as me getting the email and others not, it could be due to the fact I have mostly stepped away from the game after being hardcore at the outset, and them trying to lure the ones that got away?

i dunno

btw: jared is tweeting again, which i think is really odd considering he was shut out of his accounts? am I wrong on that point?

I sent Victoria a message last night, but have had no reply at all. Forgot to speak to Mike. I asked her to speak to him, to find out if there was any way we could keep the separate areas opened, albeit covertly.
