Sorry! I must've gotten the email because I emailed Jared telling him I was, as before, at his service.

Quote:
Hello,

If you are receiving this email it's because you sent an email to Jared's account (this is his brother Steven). You had some questions and I have done what I can to get them answered.

Before I get to those let me say that I have just come from seeing Jared. The situation is not good at the moment, but with your help we think we can get this resolved pretty quickly.

Ok, let me jump right in. Here are your questions, followed by what I was able to get from Jared in the brief time I was allowed to see him.

1) What are the chances that Nelson Fuller and Brad Leard are 1) involved with Eric's deception 2) able to help us if not involved, in your opinion.

>> Jared is sure they are not involved. That's all he said.

2) Alot to go through, but not much info so-far. Is there a specific email we should be looking for?

>> Not really. He said there could be good information there, or it could be gone. Primarily, he wants people to look for anything that can help show that Eric and/or Marty profited personally from Black Rain. I'm not a tech guy, so I don't really get what he did, but I guess he (being Jared) triggered some action that copied a lot of information from everyone at SAVER down to the terminal you are accessing and that it probably didn't grab everything. I hope that makes sense?

3) Finally, what most of you asked about was the passkeys that grant new access levels.

Jared set some of these, but it was months ago and he does not remember them. What he does remember is that the level 2 access key was something Brad Lair (not sure if that is right) came up with. Brad is apparently a big D&D fan, and Jared said the key had something to do with the game. He said to try places, names, etc. He also thought it was relatively short, perhaps less than 5 or 6 characters.

If you have any more questions let me know and I will bring them to Jared. I will be seeing him next on Monday, during the evening, so get me your questions before then preferably.

Thanks for your help everyone, Jared and I appreciate it!

- Steven

Update:

I found Leard's decryption code. The answer is found in his files section. I have included the code below.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The password is BLACKMOOR. Though there are numerous spelling errors in the reminder.txt (they spell out both LARP and LOTR!), Blackmoor is the only missing word.

Decryption of Leard's file results in this:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Decrypting file.....DONEDisplaying file contents..... Brad. In the "Connection Development" fiile (encrypted) you will find the acess upgrade key for my clearance level. to decrypt that file, you will need ITS key. its key is related to one of the iconic beasts of your favorite game. in fact the key is thename of the most powerful of its kirnd in fr. the key is inside or at least something related to the key i shoudl say

Nice work !

I'm working on Fuller's encrypted memos.
Looks like a simple substitution cipher with number pairs.
77 seems to be space and the rest should be solvable via letter frequency and good guessing

^
scratch that, 77 cant map to space with 2 digit pairs unfortunately. Although there are a lot of recurring patterns.

Edit : on the conndev.enc code :

Isn't Tiamat the strongest D&D Dragon goddess? Or was it Bahamut? xD

Been looking at nfuller's emails and I keep getting booted out the system every time I try and look his first sent email. Anybody else getting a similar problem?

Email61.eml file is huge in his inbox, appears to contain a docx and jpg file encoded in Base-64. Worth a punt.

Dear Mr Fuller,Good morning, sir. This is =
Bill Cohen from the Sydney office.Following your query regarding the doomsday cult, I have conduc=
ted some preliminary research and have found a group which may bear some fu=
rther investigation. The group is a small fundamentalist Christian sect previously known as =
the Agape Ministries ('Agape' is a Greek work most often translated to 'lov=
e'). In May of last year the Australian
branch, which had been operating in South Australia, was shut down by the =
local police following discoveries of ammunition and detonators. The 'church' had been extracting=
large sums of money from the congregation, supposedly to purchase an islan=
d for the chose=0A few to live on when the world ends in 2012. Whilst the cult's physical assets ha=
ve been seized large sums of money remain unaccounted for. There was an Agape Minis=
tries located in Indiana, it has recently rebranded as the 'In Christ Commu=
nity Church'. Amongst the Church's professed beliefs are:"the Bible is God's onl=
y written revelation to man and that it is verbally inspired, authoritative=
, and without error in the original manuscripts."Given that much of the recent coverage =
of the bird deaths have mentioned (albeit passingly) animal deaths in the B=
ook of Revelations, and
given that we have an organisation with both international finances and an=
apparently hardline view on the impending date of the Endtimes, perhaps th=
e group bears further investgation. Yours from Sydney, - Bill CohenFrom: =

Jared said that Saver was just a single office, which means the above email is completely bogus apart from the content to a real story see url above.

Looks like we are going to have sort out the bogus emails which make Saver look bigger than it is, to get at the real ones.

Holy crap. Okay.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I'm going to assume 'in fr' is not a typo and is in fact a reference to Forgotten Realms (arguably the best of the D&D settings but that's just me). Unfortunately this doesn't really narrow it down, at least for me. It's not: elminster, reddragon, golddragon.

ALSO, important EDIT: If an email contains a huge block of base64 and appears to be from someone you reasonably believe is a player, it's probably safe to ignore it. It looks like any time someone sent a Word doc, it got put in here as base64. While I'm sure this is translatable back, it is probably a waste of our time.

I would also double-check to make sure that the person who said there was a Sydney office is not a player. I'm pretty sure I saw some people saying things like that and they were just players embellishing for fun.

I'll keep working on breaking the encryption for conndev. It's neither of those, and I've tried both. Ofiuco, I've tried those three too.

GOT IT!

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The decryption key is XANATHAR, the most powerful of Beholders (definitely iconic monsters) in Forgotten Realms! The ensuing clue is "narsil"!

Upgraded access level too!
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The next access level code is TELCHAR, the dwarf that forged Narsil

I'm on a roll!

I can't.

However, i had a thought about memo.txt.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Telephone code.

I don't have time to run this down right now, but it seems plausible.

EDIT: Wait, no, I'm an idiot. Two ones/zeros in a row makes this not likely.

Also, I thought it was just me and my crappy internet, but for sure I am getting punted trying to read a lot of these emails. I suspect it may have something to do with the size. The PMs really goofed leaving the base64 for the attachments in. They should not have done this unless they wanted us to reconstruct the files. Honestly.

Marty's user folder is totally empty except for the encrypted file. That can't be right. Jerk.

Also, there are some very interesting files in Jared's folder but they suffer from the same syntax issue as before. PMs fix plox

Got to level 3 :
Password is :
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
TELCHAR (a dwarf who forged the sword)

EDIT1:
Argh ^^ to late (or was I? Wink)

EDIT2:
guessing from the filenames we get :
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
en_to_mh_phoneinplace = Eric Newold to Marty Hurwitz - phone in place
and
mh_to_en_wirexfer.txt = Marty Hurwitz to Eric Newold - wiretransfer
I dont know if we are meant to access these files or just read the filenames and speculate xD

@ Seadevil, he was there from the start

Nothing in his email at all.

on Nelson Fuller's memos, the memos all start out with the same string of 44 numbers:

Quote:
41542742442240337741142141441042741335535541

Memo2 and Memo3 continue the string another 3 digits
Quote:

not sure what to make of it - tried the md5, as it was mentioned earlier. I don't know hex or base 64 or any of that programming notation; so if you programmers or hackers out there can make heads or tails of it... I hope this helps.

On the other hand, the first memo is listed as file not found. In his sent emails, email1 and email3 will immediately kick you out of the system.
