How far have you got?

Hi All

I'm new here, just waiting to be validated.

It will be a shame if such a great hunt as WLOG is left to fizzle out. In my opinion it has been brilliantly crafted, both from an aesthetic and a technical perspective. I'm not sure why there is so little interest in this hunt - perhaps there is, but all the serious hunters are lurking?

I'm guessing that there is at least one person reading this post who is well ahead of the solutions posted here. I'd say that I'm a little way ahead, at least I have seen the tantalising glimmer of an underlying structure. I don't say this to brag, more to encourage the "Roger Bannister" effect. Before Bannister ran the four minute mile, everyone assumed it was impossible, so didn't do it. Once he'd demonstrated that it could be done, everyone was at it!

Any Roger Bannisters like to step forward?

For example, I *think* that if you look carefully at the source of what Mullligan's playing card is pointing you to, you'll find a single digit in it. (The digit isn't part of the hunt, it just happens to be there, and might not be obvious at first.) Anyone else got that digit?

Happy Hunting!

Creators location in brooklyn
Still trying to find that post

I have found a clue that captain gives off about the location of the 'Makers' and have a feeling that the closed Hands are important when he prays.
I recall someone saying in the thread somewhere that they found the address of the makers of this puzzle. I am currious if it is in Flushing area (or is that in brookln even)
I think if the address of the perps can be found, we can see if it falls into an odd coincidence concerning disatances X so many times from them. It makkes sense that somehow these guys can see from where they live, the treasure and if it has been found?. if it does, we should discuss.
Do you know where they live in brooklyn, or where the nearest parkk is? From there I think I can link the bus ride to that spot, maybe.
So far, lost dome money trying to find this and discovered how hard this really is!

I'm not sure how that answers my question but perhaps I can help you with some advice:

a. If you are losing money or even spending much doing this hunt then you may be doing it wrong.

b. Your time is best spent trying to solve the clues rather than trying to track down the huntsetters.

Happy Hunting

Hi Rick and welcome aboard. I think there is still an interest in this hunt judging by all the lurkers looking at all the posts the past 3 weeks.
I think people are just not getting it. As you can see by several of my posts I am marching to a different drummer then just about everyone on here. I have found clear path(s) and I am still trying to work out a a few 'clues'. I did this by taking a long break and looking at things differently and changing what I was doing in the past. So so far I believe I am getting it.

As for Mulligan's cars the 'T & A' I'm pretty sure i t is not a clue. I have to say I never noticed that before but, think it is funny as anything. Gotta love the humour that these guys have.

Hi Looking Glass, I know a lot of the clues may lead to Flushing, but if you read these posts you will see that people (including myself) have already been there. It is not in Flushing. There were 2 Worlds Fairs in Flushing. Most of the structure foundations from the hundreds of buildings are still in the ground. You will be just digging out these structures. I know because I have a huge folder with notes on all this.

After doing this puzzle for 14 months I will tell you that you have to know the spot that the treasure is in. It is clearly stated that you will know where the spot is once you figured out all the clues given.

And please people have all ready dug into the puppeteers lives on here and it is not nessesary in order to find the treasure. They wanted to remain unanimous for a reason. I am sure the chest is being monitored but, to dig into someone's life is not necessary. You just have to figure out the clues given in the videos and that is it.

Drum

Hi captain12fingers

As nobody has solved this yet then I see no reason why your drum should not be the one that is in synch with the huntsetters' rhythm! I must confess that I have no idea what you are talking about with respect to Mulligan's card, but if it has tickled you then good for you - the hunt should be as much about the fun that you have along the way as it is about claiming the prize.

Happy Hunting

Rick

I did state a long time ago that I figured out who these guys were and where they live ..and not in a creepy stalkerish way at all.

This hunt has gone on far too long , we are nearing on two years from when the treasure was buried . That being said ... for the sake of our sanity and the sake of the puppet guys that put effort into this and I'd assume WANT there to be a solve .. I would suggest we devise a way to work together ... off of the message board and solve this thing already.

I basically agree. I'm not sure it's gone on too long, it's just gone too long without progress.

Regarding the hunt-setters, based on my own hunt-setting experience, they probably have reached a stage where they are no longer excited about whether it is solved or not. There is an initial rush where you see people making progress, and then you'd like it solved, and then there are other distractions and you lose interest. It parallels the experience of the hunter, except for the hunter there is a lot to be gained at the successful resolution. For the setter, there is a little extra publicity but not much.

However this ends, nothing will dissuade me from the opinion that WLOG is a work of pure genius. Their only mistake is in not issuing extra clues. Even Masquerade, one of their inspirations, was only properly solved using extra clues, and I can assure you that this is more difficult than Masquerade.

Something that has impressed me hugely is that there is no indication whatsoever that hints have been leaked to individuals by the setters. That sort of care and rigour is rare amongst huntsetters. It frustrates me; I am always looking for chinks in the armour of the setters - but it also makes me feel comfortable that there is a level playing field.

I am happy to share information with others to solve this, but I don't want to just give away what I have worked hard for, especially not to lurkers. This is why I was trying to get a general feeling about who has got much further than the level of solution posted on this board.

I'm not sure what you are getting at, but I hope that this is a forum for discussing clues and answers.

For anyone who's interested... I didn't hear about WLOG until spring of this year. Paying due diligence I visited this board to check out how people were getting on, but the bulk of posts were confusing and rather negative. So, I spent around 2-3 weeks doing my own research and made some great progress. As progress slowed, I left it for a few months to allow my brain to become refreshed.

I then returned to the hunt about 3 weeks ago, trawled through all the posts here and found that no-one seemed to have progressed as far as I have, which is why I decided to join the forum to try to inject some much deserved interest.

In future I will only respond to posts about clues and answers.

Happy hunting!

Rick

so close....but

So I got involved in this hunt after learning about it during the Dodge Journey contest (was only a few miles away from it when it was finally found Smile ). Anyway, I certainly consider myself an intellect with unique reasoning skills and do lots of puzzle solving just to keep the brain fresh.

I've been working this for about 5 weeks and although this will sound arrogant, feel I have 99.5% of this solved and have been stuck on just the final location. After reading every post on every forum, not sure anyone else on here can claim that as people who are stuck are trying to find the final location without having found all the interim ones. It is funny how easily people can get distracted from reading posts here. Case in point, the majority of people agree the episodes are out of order which is a HUGE mistake and likely why the treasure hasn't been found. By analyzing the clues, the solutions scheme is elegant and straightforward and also in order. If I explained everything I know, people here would have the same "Ah-ha" moments I did as I solved each successive clue. I am frustrated by not being able to find the final spot and feel I just need some fresh perspective by someone smart here willing to team on this. If you are 100% convinced the episodes are out of order, don't reply. If you you figured the clues in order the way I did then you know there is no disputing the solution and it is a perfect one right up to the very end. Even if you didn't get as far as me but have a clever mind, please reply. If I get to the point where I can trust a partner and reveal what I know you will certainly agree the solution is correct until the last few minutes of the final episode which is where I am stuck but I do have some new ideas I still need to check into so respond quickly as I may solve this thing yet on my own....

Even though my own research has convinced me that the episodes *are* out of order, I just wanted to reply to say "Good for you!" There's nothing wrong with a bit of confidence! I hope that you find the treasure chest very soon.

Happy hunting!

Were you able to find the final location (99.9% confidence) of each episode with them out of order? The solutions I have are such perfect fits for each clue and they come with the episodes in order so it is hard for me to get on the out of order bandwagon. My solution also explains why cruthers was there with his hand cut off before it actually happened, again without having to change up the episodes. I guess I am alone on this one then....

Order

RTD

You may not be alone, there may well be others reading this who agree with you, it's just that you and I obviously have different approaches. I've been doing this sort of thing for so long that the only time I am totally confident is when that spade hits something solid and the gold gleams in the moonlight...

I'm confident about Episode 4 being out of order because I'm about 90% sure of what it leads to, but it could all be a huge coincidence.

I think your approach is excellent - you're not just following the crowd. It's good to look at everything objectively, even one's own old ideas. For example, one thing that seems to have harmed this forum is the apparent obsession with subways.

Best wishes

Rick

Where Were You Two?

Where were the 2 of you months ago? I thought I was the only person who did not believe in following the trains. Geez...
