No, it's not that simple, I don't think. We know from several sources that heismissing is James Avery. Sources would be Ormond's files, Beth's and Phillip's e-mails to each other, etc... how does he fit together with the Emersons? No idea...but I don't think we can just focus on the Emersons, they don't seem to be the only ones who are missing. Ugh, my head hurts...

You're right... I forgot about Beth and Phillip's e-mails and mlo's handwritten printout thing. I've forgotten about that before, actually. Why do I keep forgetting that?

So... what could that mean? There is no connection... possibly. I will have to go back and read those clues to see if there is any other intrepretation.

I sent an email to missingjesse saying I found a CD in a book and ran across the website with a matching picture. I asked if they wanted the CD mailed to them or files sent to them or if they wanted the CD replaced in the book. I doubt I will hear anything, but will post if I do.

This is what I was thinking of for my e-mail to Dina. Any thoughts before I send it?

Code:
Hi there!

I hope this doesn't come as too much of a surprise, but I've been following your blog on the internet. I really hope that you're able to find your lost son and figure out what has been happening to you.

It was I who stumbled upon your CD at the Cyberia Chicago cafe, and I would like to return it to you, or at least help you figure out the contents.

If you will e-mail me back we can arrange for a transfer of the CD and/or its information. I hope I haven't caused you too much of a scare!

Thanks very much,

Christine

Trip, I think you should send one too and use Nio's suggestion about you were given the wrong package. You could even say your last name is also Emerson.

Trip, I don´t know if you´ve sent that email yet or still thinking about it, but my 2 cents worth: Send it as is - I like the wording, and, trying to see it from Dina´s perspective, this way you won´t freak her out unnecessarily.
Attempting to explain the whole thing right off would be too much, in my opinion, and making up stuff about yourself will only add to an already considerable confusion - for us as well as for Dina...

i think you could get a response; the fact that the description of Cyberia mathces what you saw indicates that some actual interaction between "us" (=you and whoever is in the vicinity) and the in-game carachters is where this is going.
(I think that, storyline-wise, the "bunch of curious George´s stumbling on to something real" is a good guess as to our part in the game - US players: prepare for some foot work...)

The whole Jesse/Mind erasing thing makes me think of The Kid (does he have a name?) from Animatrix/M2/M3.

The Kid realized something was not right and went about trying to escape the Matrix, eventually driven by Agents into committing a desperate act, a literal "leap of faith". His Matrix body "died", and no attempt was made by the machines to alter this fact in the minds of those around him, friends, family, etc. As far as they were concerned, he committed suicide, and they had no reason to believe it was anything other than a tragic act committed by a desperate boy.

Supposing that Jesse had a similar experience to the Kid, he realized something wasn't right in the world, the machines/Agents realized Jesse was on to them, so they decided to "eliminate" him, and ALL TRACES OF HIM, even altering the memories of his parents. My question is, Why? Why couldn't they just arrange for some sort of "accident"?

My (admittedly incomplete) hypothesis is that Jesse started to "wake up", and during his process of discovery, he confided in his parents (the way the Kid couldn't do because he was an outcast?) and they started to believe too. The machines/Agents, seeing this, decided to eliminate the threat by "removing" Jesse (maybe he's not "dead", just on the run/in hiding?), and erasing his parents' (and by extension, everyone who knew Jesse's) memories of him and all traces of his existence. Of course, this begs the question, why didn't the machines just kill the Nekoda family in a car accident or something? Maybe it would've been too messy?

Thoughts? Flames? Trouts?

Trip, I think Aqualung may be right about keeping things simple, but maybe you could add something about, how you and group of friends are kind of like internet detectives and we like to solve mysteries. You could offer our help in finding Jesse. I don't think you want to direct her to this site though. She'd really be freaked to find out she was a character in a game we are playing.

Hi all,

I've changed the message slightly to include suggestions from different people. Here is what I ended up sending to Dina:

Code:
Hi Dina!

I accidentally picked up a CD from Cyberia Chicago that I believe was meant for you and your husband.

I have been searching on the internet trying to locate the correct owner of the CD, and I stumbled upon your web site (the picture of jesse matches a photo on this CD that I have). Your description of the Cyberia Chicago cafe is uncanny - you must have been there minutes after me! I remember seeing the customers there that you describe in your post. It's a shame we didn't run into each other... we might have been able to realize this mix-up and take care of it there and then. :)

Anyway, I apologize profusely for this mistake, and I hope I can rectify the situation as soon as possible. Reading the post about your missing son and your confusion over the absent CD just broke my heart. I feel terrible about this misunderstanding.

If you would like me to send you the CD, I would be happy to do so. Or, I can transfer the contents or information to you in some way. If you're still in the Chicago area, I would be willing to meet you to give you the CD if you would like.

Thanks very much, and sorry again for the trouble this mistake has caused.

Christine

I would love it if she responds!
