Updated the HUB - the text file for Box 2 was apparently dead (or just hosted on a rubbish hosting site). Cheers. [J]

Not really all that exciting...but I guess I'll take it.

Yay for the new and shiny thread 8D Pokin my head in just to throw out some speculation~

So, in my English class today, we were talking about tragic heros, and what a protagonist would have to have in order to be considered one.
My teacher said that the hero would have to be well respected and well liked within the society he lives in, and would also need to have some sort of flaw...and this got me thinking. About the "Enter the Tragic Hero and his unattainable companion" thing from way back when.

We all respect and like each one of the boys, correct? Maybe the tragic hero isn't just one of them...but all of them.

My only question is do each of them have a flaw? I realize Evan's is probably his...insanity, and/or split personality, if that can be considered a flaw. Jeff's may be his sad panda-ness...but what about Vince? Confused

Excellent thoughts, Alyss!

I'd quibble about Evan's flaw, though. Insanity and split-personalities isn't something that he can get a handle on, which is what a flaw is. Odysseus had hubris, which was often his downfall specifically because he didn't reign it in. The flaw is tragic because the hero could do something about it if he were willing, or even just aware. Therefore insanity doesn't qualify. (Forgive my pedantic nature, I just stepped off two semesters of studying Greek tragedies.)

If anything I'd say that the boys share the same flaw: denial. They run away from their problems. Throughout the series we have seen their multiple attempts at ignoring what's been going on.

They take Evan out hiking to get his mind off someone breaking into his house. Vinnie and Jeff try to hide the shrine of purple tape and burned pictures from him because "Evan will freak, and he's just now getting back to normal" and they don't like it when "normal" is disrupted. Vinnie insists that they keep moving forward with their series and deliberately ignore the strange things happening to them.

Alex hides his wounds from his brother, and cannot accept that his parents are dead. Jeff is convinced that Jessa is still alive, despite all the passing time, and while that's noble, is it really healthy? Meanwhile, the Rake has been locked up in Alex's room since November and they've barely spoken of it since.

They seem to be trying to be proactive and move past it, but that doesn't mean they will succeed. So yes: I think they all share the tragic flaw of denial.

ETA: Almost forgot Evan's example! Anyway. Evan doesn't tell his friends when something is going wrong with him. If he's aware of the fact that he's been acting strangely, then he hides it very well. He's also an enthusiastic participant in their attempts to forget everything strange happening to them.

Lets not forget Evan's rage. Its gotten him into trouble more than once already...

Looking forward to contributing to the investigation. I may have contacted HABIT too late to become a Rabbit, but I have extended an offer to the guys and Damsel to assist them in any way needed as I am relatively close to them as a fellow Jersey native.

Good to be back on the hunt..

At a guess, he's trying to avoid linking directly to wiki articles, and the original non-wiki file he linked to for Box 2 went dead. I haven't paid much attention to the HUB page, so I don't know for sure.

...Jeff has a tumblr? I knew about Jessa's but I wasn't aware of that, haha. Link?

Ah. Got it.

And BTW... 4 hours? Why... I remember a time when that question would've had three responses within 30 seconds of me posting it.

I suspect that Angora chat has sapped some of the forum's vitality, especially now that it's being used by many more than just the Angoras. It'll be interesting to see how chat v/ forum plays out when the next video is released.

There are a lot of people who just haven't been around the board lately who don't go to the chat either. I think they're just out there waiting until things update, or maybe they gave up.

I'm not on chat.

I'm just kind of here... waiting for an update and the new thread to pick up.

I'm shocked there aren't a gazillion posts here already.

Wait, so the Angora chat isn't just for voting/the seven trials? and you don't have to be an Angora/in the trials to go on?

No. And no.

well, that's what it was ORIGINALLY for, but after the voting was done, people kind of stuck around, and eventually non-angoras and non-rabbits started wandering in. now it's basically a group hybrid chat.

I won't be chatting myself - no time - so I hope any major revelations/news bits/epiphanies will still be posted to the thread...
