noskirt, I really couldn't say what his reasons are yet, we'll have to see, unless we're totally wrong about Vince. We are TREEING OUT

Need more trees!

it seems like Vince does NOT want the cycle to be broken.

When I was thinking what he would accomplish this was the first thought that came to my mind as well. But, why would he want to complete the cycle when (if?) he knows they'll just do the same thing again and again.

I think I'm going to go to bed and sulk. And not sleep.

To me, the Voyeur lines read as though Vince, who appears neutral and passive, has actually been "busy beneath" - scheming against the others. At which point he would have to eventually "swallow justice's sword," and die at the hands of one of the others.

See, this fits with the lines from the play just fine for me. However, it pretty much directly contradicts pretty much all of the symbolism relating to Vince's card, the Jack of Clubs, which signifies trust and honesty. On the other hand, the cards for the others fit just fine with their lines. Not saying you're wrong, just that it confuses me.

Also, I realize this probably isn't all that significant, but I'd really like to know what the coins have on them. They remind me weirdly of tokens from Chuck-E-Cheese. xD

Putting Pieces Together on HABIT
I REGISTERED FOR THIS

Alright guys, some of you know I've been sitting on a theory for awhile. The recent box has brought to light a lot of frightening possibilities for the near future, and the far. For the sake of trying to save the guys, and under threat of violence from other HYBRIDs, here it is.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
What if Evan subconsciously succumbed to HABIT to save his friends? What if HABIT struck a deal with Slenderman to produce so much collateral ("fishes") to tide Him over? But HABIT is clearly unhappy being connected to Evan (consider his disdain for the "doctor" who helped Fairmount Evan overcome him), he must want out. Maybe he's HELPING us, in his way, because he wants to escape Evan. And so he created THE SEVEN TRIALS OF HABIT, for the "BODYCOUNT", to give Slenderman- but this game is "winnable". What if he's not just using this as a way to get voluntary victims ("bodycount"), but because he's looking for someone new to inHABIT, someone who is willing to do horrible things as the Rabbits are being bred to do? To kill one another, etc? Recall the scene of crucifixion from Corenthal's early letter, involving the warren of rabbits. A sacrifice, "HABIT made me do it", his reasoning of "BODYCOUNT", etc. Consider the "Ryan&theseventrials" video.

Pared this down as much as possible, I'll edit and fill it as I find holes. I'm really missing a lot of details, I'm sure some are wrong, and this is hardly a coherent textwall, but seeing as time is apparently running out, I wanted to vomit it out here. This may be a possibility we're looking at.

The coins are gold in color and have a $ in the middle with two leaf branches wrapped around the outside. Nothing else other than Made in China is printed on them.

Thanks! At least now my thoughts of HABIT and co. spending their time playing Skeeball and eating pizza have been vanquished. xD

I've been in fetal position since finally addressing the chat with this and shits were flipped. It is very awkward to be in fetal position while at work.
Also, the hardest part of this is not exactly if it's true, but if it IS true, how the fuck can we use this to save them?!

Lunaticfish, I think you're theory will end up being correct. I was thinking something similar after reading the Trial 4 poem again. Time to play the waiting game.

Yeah, as you said, the problem is figuring out how to save them. I am really drawing a blank so far, but I might just be brain-fried from all the new information brought to light. We definitely need to try and break the cycle though...

So I'm most likely misreading the Corenthal letter, but it seems to me that Fairmount Jeffrey's father was dead before the rest of his family.
Jeffrey says that he had the rose from his father's funeral in his bedroom. His father's funeral, not his entire family's. It seems odd that the killer would get a separate funeral.
And Jeffrey was still living in the house after that funeral, which would be odd if the rest of his family was dead. Jeffrey does express confusion at his father even being in the "dream about Mommy and Ellie."
Maybe the nightmare doesn't exactly match reality. (Or maybe Jeffrey's father was a zombie.)

A thought on this line:

Quote:
THE FIREBRAND SHALL DEFECT AND SELF-IMMOLATE, NO LONGER DEFINING THE TWO WITHIN

The obvious reading of "defect" is "go to the other side, join up with the enemy", but it might be worth remembering that the word has a looser meaning in game theory, there meaning "fail to cooperate". In a Prisoner's Dilemma, the criminal who rats out his partner is said to defect. HABIT referred to the Prisoner's Dilemma back in Trial One, so we know he's familiar with that terminology.

Is this important? Well, I can think of twice that Evan has failed to cooperate, once when he denounced Jeff for turning in Steph and again during the recent "Rose" video. Those could be setting us up for his big defection.

I am so mindfucked about this all. I just told a customer we didn't have change for a $100 bill. While that was true, the total was $97.60.
Thank goodness work is over.

The Trials seem to be designed to get the Rabbits to sever their emotional ties- giving up favorite things, cutting off relationships, so on. I think the Fish is right... HABIT is designing himself a new vessel, one completely free of any sort of human connections or concerns. I suppose he realizes that Evan will sooner take himself out of the equation ("self-immolate") than betray his friends.

HABIT's ideal scenario: He walks out of the situation with a brand new vessel, completely under his control, while the Pennsylvania Four, Rake and Slendy all burn behind him.
