Not to be intentionally snarky, but during which decade of the fire?

Good point. Never mind.

Not blood? Again, interesting to see Evan is still diligently answering emails. I honestly don't know what to say at this point. This morning I shot off a "hope everyone's okay" email. I couldn't really help myself, mostly. I came up with several trees, but none of them very good so I'll bring them up some other time. For now I have been asked to revise that post I did on the Trials, which seems good because a lot of details were left out at the time. Idunno. I half want to erase it.

Something I noticed in Ouro's email and reply, it seems that Evan doesn't know about the object Vinnie had, that the camera was reacting to. (I'm thinking it's one of those voice recorders that use cassettes, it looks like one I had when I was a kid.) Just to elaborate, the part of Ouro's email and reply:

Quote:
Also, it wasn't clear from the video...what did Vinnie have in his hand(which in put into a box...) before the door shut and...well, you know what happened?

Quote:
Hey Jay, Im not too sure just what you're referring to when you mention what Vin had in his hand,

Now it could be something simple, like with all that was going on Evan forgot or perhaps Vinnie handled multiple objects so Evan isn't sure which one is being specified, but I thought it was odd. Is it possible that Vinnie is keeping the object to himself? Or perhaps when Slendy showed up it was taken away?

Ouroborus, do you think maybe you could email them again with more details on the object, such as what point in the video it shows up, the way the camera reacts to it, etc.? Perhaps we could learn more about it then.

That would be my guess, yeah.

Ouroborus, thanks for that. I guess it makes sense there were no solid records. A lot of those facilities are like that, actually, but it was worth a shot.

Anyway, that's two emails about Vinnie's spewage so they obviously want us to pay attention to the black goop thing - my only guess at it is stomach bile, or...

...or residue from inhaled tar, resin, or ash. A la Centralia, a la the four kids.

Could there have been a siren sounding during the Centralia fire?

If it was inhaled residue the inside of Vinnie's nose and whatnot would be completely black, as would anything he blew out on a kleenex. But he wouldn't be vomiting it unless he actually swallowed some.

But I'm glad Evan's being helpful. It's a quite a change.

One thing I would like to know: when the good doctor showed up, were the colors really messed up (meaning, from their POV), or was it definitely camera distortion? If they really were seeing washed out colors it could provide some interesting insights.

I'm willing to bet it's camera distortion. That's a fair observation though.

As for the non-blood, I thought ash or tar too. That seems like the best possibility so far.

Re: Not Blood.

My HYBRID friend says, "Someone should ask Vinnie what it tasted like!"

I didn't even notice that until my third viewing of the video. Even if things really did become faded, they might not have noticed in the confusion. And now they've seen their own video, which would influence their memories.

It could also be some sort of Slender ectoplasm. I don't think there's any precedent for that sort of thing, but the whole situation seems pretty unprecedented now that we know it wasn't blood.

Or chocolate pudding. Maybe Slendy just wanted to give the boys a nice treat, but in his usual not-quite-getting-humans manner he materialized two gallons of pudding directly into Vince's stomach.

As for the faded colors, could that be more a case of filming in a very-low-light environment than anything preternatural?

Nah, it would have made sense if it only occurred right when the door opened, but I don't think it would continue to happen, at least I'm not familiar with any sort of natural washing out that occurs in low-light environments. It almost looked like the entire image was oversaturated (a sign of high light, usually) and then faded. It looks too much like how many modern TV series and movies represent "dreams" and "flashbacks."

Ah, thanks! It was more a guess than anything else.

Also, rewatching the sequence just now, I realized I was thinking of something completely different than what everybody's talking about, and misremembering the bit I was thinking of. I need a nap.

"Bleeding in your upper gastrointestinal tract (mouth, esophagus, stomach and upper small intestine) from peptic ulcers or torn blood vessels is a common cause of vomiting blood. Blood in vomit may be bright red, or it may appear black or dark brown like coffee grounds."

Evan might be mistaking it for something else.
