Admittedly, the same thought about the parents occurred to me last night. I dismissed it as too ridiculous, but who knows.

I had an equally ridiculous thought about Corenthal's history when the guys made the library trip and came back with the various articles on him. Not so much soft reality, but parallel realities. But I don't think it pans out, so I didn't share it.

A parallel reality with a parallel AP style would explain a lot about those articles. Wink

Parallel and soft realities don't strike me as particularly ridiculous, but that could be because of the fictions I've rotted my brain with. I'm a big ol' fan of multiverses in general. I think it would be difficult to convincingly get that idea across in this medium, though, without making us choke down a chunk of exposition. On the other hand, they managed to convey a lot of information elegantly and effectively with Corenthal's appearance in the storage unit, so I wouldn't put anything past our guys.

Something Jeff said when he looked at the articles at the time - charting Corenthal's inexplicable fall and rise and fall from criminal to celebrity and back again over decades - set off a red flag for me and I did begin to wonder if it was articles on two different Corenthals from two different universes. Then I decided that was silly, and didn't mention it here or in Angora even though someone asked me about my idea. I still think it's probably just the one Corenthal - if other realities come into play, I think they're somewhere else.

But that still begs the question of other things - like, say for example EMH really never did make the numbered hidden videos of themselves, like the one of them on Baldpate, and that none of them sent that "Please stop watching us" tweet. Then who did, and where?

Well.

Shouldn't there be (more)records of the Fairmount gang? With the newspaper clippings acknowledging their deaths, should there be some death certificates or Obits hanging around somewhere?

Despite the newspaper mention, it might be a valid avenue to pursue for us to figure out if there is some multi-verse interleague play going on..

I'm not sure what there is to do on that front, if anything, right now.

I believe the Fairmount kids, Corenthal, etc. all happened in this reality, and that Corenthal is likely up on Baldpate, a fugitive in the reality. But I do think that somewhere in all this mess there are likely other realities in play somehow, if only because of some of the notes HABIT has left ("how many lives have you lived and spent") plus the quote from HOL. I suspect some of the hidden footage we've seen displays stuff either from the future or from an alternate path.

With most of the more cryptic stuff, I tend to err on the side of it all simply happening in our reality, either now or in the past or future. But I am open to side avenues.

As I recall, we tried the alternate universe route by making video responses to the Morse code videos. That didn't pan out. While it doesn't rule out the possibility of a multi-verse, it does put a bit of a dent in it.

By the by qaqa, how are you feeling? Any better than yesterday? Sad

I think they have an actor in the role, that he's become much more important to solving the mystery, and that he was last seen in the same enigmatic location EMH's spent a lot of time in. He's either alive up there or he died up there, but we'll be seeing him again.

ETA: Luipaard, I am recovering slowly. I still have a column to write tonight for another freelance job and am hoping I can make it to the movies with some friends tomorrow night. I kind of crashed, I think, after weeks of non-stop writing deadlines. Thanks for asking.

A slow recovery is better than no recovery at all. You've earned a break, don't push yourself too hard. *hugs*

Well, I have to work well after midnight here and I still have other stuff I want to do/watch. But I've been doing this column for years (before I started doing trailers) and I've got it down to a science so it shouldn't take me long. I'm taking all the 'Quils - Day and Ny - so I'm okay.

Off-topic, hooray!

No. Keep it going. For the sake of the Monolith. <3

If nothing else, the DayQuil and NyQuil have cut down on my deadline-spree drinking from earlier. When it was both trailers and program material for a city film festival I was working around the clock and drinking way too much to get through it. And I'm not much of a drinker generally, despite being from an Irish Catholic family. Only when I'm on deadline, or weeping over men. Fortunately I've taken care of most everything, and won't be on another trailer until at least next week.

So...what do you do, exactly? I mean, you're obviously a freelancer, but what do trailers have to do with it?

This isn't something I like to talk about in public on UF because I feel obnoxious discussing it, though everyone on Angora knows at this point so I have obviously become a bit more lax in my rules. My main work these days is in writing material (copy) for film trailers, either what the voice-over guy says ("IN A WORLD..." - though we're not supposed to do that) or what the onscreen text says, or sometimes a trailer could have both graphic text and voice-over. It depends on what the client (studio, producer, distributor, director, etc.) wants for the trailer, and how they want the film to be marketed to the public.

It's nothing special, it's not fancy and I am not rich, I'm just a working schlub like anyone else. I got lucky because someone liked the writing I do every year for a local film festival. I need a number of different writing gigs to pay my bills, but trailers are my primary source of work at the moment. I'm still a starving artist with my own creative projects I'd like to do someday, just like many of us, I'd imagine. And this is really more than I'm comfortable saying about it in public for fear of being taken wrong, so if anyone else would like to speak to me about it, I am always available on PM or in Angora. But believe me, I am the last person you'd ever want to speak to about advice on anything. Smile
