I'm taking this to PM so as not to crowd this up, all anyone else needs to know is that I alerted CD, that's why he acted. My other opinions are not fit for now.

Sadly, Ouro, with the Ark/Candleverse and handcuffed Evan I doubt he's a red herring.

It was worth a shot. You did your best. I'll still cry for you, Amish Mermaid.

I don't know. Some puny handcuffs seem a little insulting to someone with the apparent physical gifts as HABIT.

I'm just saying that I wouldn't be shocked at all if Evan=Habit. I just think that it's been implied to death to a point that it's not quite as it seems.

I'm thinking that the "little fishes" video, which is also our strongest evidence for Evan's inHABITation, makes this interesting.

I'm fairly certain we can take it as confirmed that neither Evan nor Jeff has any memory of that encounter. This leaves us with a few options:

1. The "fishes" encounter hasn't happened yet and was projected back from the future;
2. The encounter has already happened, but in an alternate universe;
3. The baddies (Slendy in particular?) can selectively wipe peoples' memories.

If it's 3, then perhaps Evan has been cleaned up after each inHABITation. If 2, then I don't know; anything could be happening in this universe. If 1, then maybe we're seeing some scenes after Evan's victory over Nick.

insulting, maybe. but they'd probably slow him down a little, and they'd make it easier to pin him down......

before my brain goes to interesting places, i'd best stop. at any rate, i imagine it was the best the boys could do without just outright hogtying the poor boy.

My assumption has been that, in the Candleverse, metaphor trumps mere physicality. It's not the metal that keeps HABIT chained up so much as it's the idea of containment.

In other words, they're magical handcuffs in a magical land. Smile

I don't think it was future-projecting-into-the-past. There were Christmas decorations all over that house, which would line up with the time period that Ryan's video took place in.

Good point. Unless it's being projected back from next Christmas, or if it was in Jeff and Alex's house--two teen boys living alone might not be too fastidious about taking the decorations down. Wink

And damn proud of it too.

Anyway, back on topic. Slendy does have a history of wiping memories. It's most likely that, seeing as how Slendy was in the area having a lovely conversation with inHABITed Evan.

I say inHABITed Evan because if he was talking to HABIT, then who was controlling him? He referred to Evan in the third person after all.

Or maybe they just put the decorations back up for Christmas In July. Where is your sense of whimsy?

But really, yeah, I'm gonna assume it was meant to be from last Christmas.

Oooh boy. Finally caught up. Reading all this slendytalk right before bed may in fact be the second stupidest thing I've ever done.[1] I may never sleep again.

@re: the characters losing memories

I think it has been well accepted that the EMH boy's can block out large chunks of their memory at little provocation. Of the top of my head, there's the bit of A Day in the Life that popped up in the CHAOS videos as well as the incident when viewing the hidden videos in physical form.

@re: course of action

I don't know if we are supposed to wait further developments, or perhaps solve some lingering puzzle, but if the boys are waiting on direction I think that the Florida University connection is the best way to go. Either the professor or the student may offer clues or at least repair the damn box.

@re: slenderstuff being torn off

What kind of thorn can tear at the tall faceless one? Seriously, get some of that stuff and wrap it around Evan's bat.

[1] Proud number one is the "Icy narrow bridge over waterfall in remote cave" incident.

So back to the point Ouro raised, why the fight? I always assumed, perhaps wrongly, that it would be a fight to the death. Given that, it would cause the winner of the fight to cross a boundary that neither of them has before. The results of that could go a few ways, but most likely either the winner would have no remorse and be further down the path of monsterhood, or he does have remorse and that can be more cracks in their sanity to exploit. Either way, the baddies win. If it is not to the death, then they still get to see who is the baddest, and how far they will go willingly. That would allow them to adjust their gameplan accordingly to get the desired results, whatever that may be. So since that was a little too on topic for the current trend, anyone else missing the sexy side of EMH? No girlie action for awhile now, step it up guys. I would even ignore the hugely inappropriate introduction of a new character this late in the game if she was hot enough. Jeff just needs a flimsy excuse to write her in and why she wears nothing but lingerie all the time. Maybe she comes from an alternate evening wear universe? The anti-Ark?

I still suspect that Slendy purposefully left that scrap there for some reason. No idea why, but I'm just not buying the idea of the mysterious eldritch entity tearing his suit on a bush. :/

I was sort of guessing that for one reason or another, Slendy was more vulnerable at that time than he is now. I also think it's odd that Slendy may actually have gotten caught onto something, but I think it's less odd to assume that he is a "growing" entity.
