I'm torn between wanting to sit the boys down and scold them for hiding shit and trying to keep in mind that HABIT wants us to be mad/wary/suspicious

The text at the beginning is still weird. It's just so deliberately different and, for lack of a better word, feminine.

That's an intense reversal. And it raises the question: what else are they hiding? There's no way this is all there is to it, this video is practically the CliffNotes of their lives.

Honestly, I'm thinking that Steph (inHABITed or not) was the one who posted it.

Exactly what I was thinking. When I heard what the video was about, I was expecting it to be longer tbh. But the fact it's relatively short and we just get these little snippets thrown together adds to the idea that they're hiding so much more.

And I was thinking inHABITed Steph as well. Once again she's absent, and from the kind of video you might expect her to actually be in.

And thats kind of what I am getting at. Maybe an angry, scolding, email is exactly what needs to be sent.

Unreliable Narrator trope in action. This is practically a Ur-example, this had better get up on TVTropes fast.

That's kind of why I'm favoring the idea -- since the font is feminine and it also gives Steph the presence and influence she's been missing.

She's hiding stuff too. She's just a lot smarter about letting it get caught on tape.

I've got an idea, but it's pretty inflammatory (if nothing else, I'm pretty good at pissing people off) and I don't want to put anything down until we get a consensus. Unless someone else wants to bite the bullet and take the leap for me.

That, and if she is inHABITed, HABIT wouldn't want to show his hand. Until he needs to of course

This.

Even as I was typing up the transcript I started to doubt that it was the real Slendy. The figure is too short, the hands are weird, and the clothing looks baggy. Fake footage left over from the start? Jessa? Lexi? My only concern is why HABIT (or whoever) would show us fake footage when the point of this seems to be showing us real things that the boys have hidden from us.

Then why was Vince hiding? Why did he vomit blood?

I'm not saying you're wrong, its just that there are other factors besides Slendy's shabby appearance.

I also thought it was a fake Slenderman but with Vince dying in the bathroom it kinda kills the theory. However we have hard evidence, I still think that was fake Slendy in the security footage.

In fairness (to myself), I didn't think "WTF BRO" was the way to go here right out the gate. It's always a tightrope to walk when you open a new line of inquiry and I didn't want to be outright confrontational. I find it's always better to open nice so you can get close enough to make a real impact. The pushing may come later, if any of us get a hit - if I do I have no problem with doing so. I tried with Evan but never heard back. And remember, when Evan first came after me it was relatively unprovoked - I just asked EMH if they'd checked on Evan and Steph to see if they were okay, after HABIT took over CYSTW. Evan flew off the handle because he monitored us here. He didn't respond when I fired back.

Same, but it's a question of leaving ourselves some access.

I do wonder if it's Steph making that, and I do find it troubling that she's all but disappeared within the group. But I still think it's HABIT.

And again, that didn't look like Slendy to me downstairs.

I'll fire off a PM to you in an hour or two -- I've got class in ten minutes.

Noted. And dont worry about be to pissy in the email. If they get mad at me it doesnt matter since I have never had any correspondence with them in the past. We need to keep the relationships between the boys and those of us who contact them frequently to be as good as possible.

I'm not sure how inflammatory you should make the message, although I do like this line:

I suppose it should be somewhat confrontational, but it shouldn't be all flaming. Just be sure to emphasize how we can't help them unless they keep us fully informed.

There's something that people aren't picking up on that REALLY stood out to me in this video.

When Jeff is approaching Alex's door and you can hear the Rake raging around inside...he approaches and says "It's Jeff!".

Is that Jeff simply wondering if it's Alex making noises? I can't see how, with how loud the Rake is being. So if Jeff KNOWS it's the Rake, why announce himself? My first thought was that he knows something about the Rake (or whatever the creature is).

Perhaps something like thinking it's his girlfriend...which could lead right on into the pill taking to commit suicide. With her transformed into some horrible creature, what reason does he have left to live? Her disappearance has been his driving force for a long time.

This is interesting...

When the "1000 mile stare" came up previously, I thought the comment could have been directed at a "monster", whose "memories" we'd see. Now, I am confident that Candleverse meant me/us - the viewer.

The entire series is playing with the concept of narration, truth, lies, what is shown and what isn't.

The video is not only meant to make us angry at the crew - it is also meant as a sort of reminder, only I cannot grasp what kind of reminder. Things seem to be completely out of control: Jeff suicidal, Rake back, Vince's gf dead, Evan knowing where to find a knife in a desert.

I also agree on Slendster being weird.

Really, I feel like we get all these viewpoints of one gigantic truth (Slendy kidnapping the kids and bringing them forward?? in time/into a secure miniverse he created, HABIT coming back to collect his "habitarian" son), but we are missing one crucial POV.

Steph's? Jessa's? Corenthal's? Slenderman's?

Historically, Jeff has always opted for denial and burying his troubles unless pressed. It's an understandable psychological response from a young man to a series of outsize traumas.

I agree with pressing them for answers; I don't care if I'm prom queen so long as they're alive. But I also think that, especially with Jeff, you get there by first approaching from a position of friendship, then pushing when they respond positively. This is why and how grieck was able to get answers about their parents. You try the carrot, then the stick. It's manipulative perhaps, but we're already being manipulated. And if the carrot doesn't work, just start thrashing.

With Evan, mind, all bets are off. I also once tried a Come To Jesus letter on Steph, but lolnope.
