They're operating on a fair dollop of denial about what went down with Nick, though. We saw it and Evan remembers snapping his neck. The footage exists. These things they've done - Evan's issues, Jeff deleting the emails, whatever with Vince - are all things they talk about as though they were stepping out and watching themselves almost from afar, because they were under the influence of another power. They distance themselves from what happened with Nick as well, because what else could they do right now? What would any of us do?

Talking to Alex or Jessie seems like a good idea, even if they don't reply, and I encourage people to do it. The most important thing to do is to re-open the lines of communication to all of them. If Vinnie really meant what he said, then they will respond to us one way or another. I wouldn't dwell on what happened to Nick, myself. What good is that going to do? If they survive this somehow they'll have their whole lives to beat themselves up. Nick's, well, out of the picture. I'd focus on helping the guys here and now, not recriminations. Though they do need to be pressed again on what we saw in HALLOWEEN HANGOVER - all of it.

Personally, I thought EMH themselves filmed much of and then uploaded the newest vid, but I'm not sure.

Tangent stuff.

Going off of what we've been told/implied about when the guys are inHABITed, they know kinda what's going on, but aren't really there. Like, Evan knew what happened to Nick. Jeff knew he deleted the emails. From CYSTW, Nick knew he killed his dog.

If Habit is setting up all this gear, he needs to be using someone. Maybe he's using all of them for each respective house, but I'm wondering if he's just using Vince.

I guess what I'm proposing is a tweek on the popular Vinnie is the Voyeur theory. Vinnie is the voyeur. Vinnie is setting up these cameras. Hell, Vinnie could be the mystery editor. But it's inHabited Vinnie. And Vinnie can't bring himself to admit to guys(and himself?) that he's being used like this. So he's trying to backdoor out of it. Using the knowledge he believes he has of Habit putting these cameras out to remove them, thus absconding him from blame.

That's a fair point. The "we've all done things we don't remember" comment is a red flag. I have never been able to pin guilt to Vince, even with all these odd things adding up around him, and I'm still not sure I am willing to ascribe to anything further than inHABITation on this one. I think "Voyeur" might hint at something else. If Evan is the FIREBRAND, that makes sense. HABIT, as far as we know, uses him as his primary host. If Jeff is GUARDIAN, that's clear enough the situation with Alex (the summer videos hinted a lot at this). But I don't feel like something as literal as hidden cameras makes Vince the VOYEUR. These archetypes are repeating, right? I doubt Vince's part in the past has been mini-cameras. Though I fully concede that HABIT probably used Vince to plant them and Vince might know it.
Does that make sense?

EDIT: Everything qaqa said. Adding the suggestion that whoever emails, maybe adding something to the effect of "We're glad you're trusting us. You guys worry about your safety, we'll worry about the Nick thing, don't dwell on it." I operate entirely on the theory of keep them safe and united.

EDIT2: Yeah I meant "FIREBRAND" not "FIRBRAND". He is not a tree.

Here's the email I sent the boys last night/early this morning (just about an hour after the video came out I'd like to add.):

Quote:
Well, it looks like you've gotten those pinhole cameras down. That's good news. I'm sure you've thought of this already, but it's been suggested that you check the other homes for similar wi-fi capable hard drives.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that you have seen HALLOWEEN HANGOVER and OUTSIDE HELP. There's no point in rehashing the content of those videos -- suffice to say that we are all relieved that the four of you are alive and relatively hale, and that we stand ready to help you however we can, as always.

As a sidenote, tell Evan not to bother with the Star Wars prequels. They fucking suck. The Original Trilogy is where it's at. If he absolutely must investigate, than I suggest starting with Mr. Plinkett's Reviews and moving on from there. I have a feeling he'll enjoy them quite a bit.

Keep each other safe. Remember that we're at your disposal. Stay in touch.

Was that what you had in mind?

I was thinking very specifically mentioning the Nick thing. That seems like a destabilizing issue.

Understandable but...kid gloves honestly seem the best way right now. Mentioning him would only set something off, or so it seems to me.

We'll see. It's not like they've sent anything to anyone yet.

I meant mentioning it in a "relax we'll worry about it/it's alright" way! XD
EDIT: Oh I read it wrong. Hm, what do you think it could set off?
EDIT2: I'm an idiot, I think you may be right.

That's a very solid opener for us. I do think at some point someone should get into what we saw of Jeff and Vinnie's "stuff they haven't shown [us]", but that can wait til someone makes contact.

lol I love you too. But okay how do we address it then? So far it seems like Jeff is the only one who is sort of fracturing away, and the Nick thing looked to be a big issue with him. At the same time, while Evan and Vince are I guess dealing with it, it could easily act as a wedge between them should anything else unfortunate possibly associated with HABs come up. For example, Lexi.
My point was it's an active problem, in a way, and I think being direct and definitely sugar-coating that shit might act as water on the fire. At least more than bringing it up would act like fuel. Keep in mind, if Evan and Vince are dealing with emails now, there are things they don't know about Jeff (HALLOWEEN HANGOVER, Sigma) that could make it worse.

tl;dr- Options are say nothing and see what happens, or try to take some of the stress off it and see what happens.

Who says we have to address it at all? It also seems to be the height of hubris to tell them they can kick back while we take care of things. We're not the ones who have to live with the sound of Nick's neck snapping; Evan is, and patronizing him would be an excellent way to get us cut off forever, not to mention needlessly insulting.

Honestly, I don't think there's any way we can fit into that particular scheme. Just what can we do about Nick? We can't bring him back, we can't make it so it didn't happen (at least not yet.) Honestly, the best thing Evan needs right now is support and sympathy. He's dealing with it as best he can, the fact that something used his body against his will to commit a heinous crime. There's a word for that, and it's not a nice one.

They are well aware of the horror, I think. They're trying to work through it. And qaqa is right:
Quote:
They distance themselves from what happened with Nick as well, because what else could they do right now? What would any of us do?

Considering all that, what can we possibly offer them? I've already offered us up as their faithful servants, dedicated to their well-being. What else can we do?

There are no riddles to solve. There are no puzzles to figure out. No locations to track down, no equations to point the way, no one to find. We only have a group of boys, still hardly more than children, who are trying to find their way.

The best we can do right now is offer our support. Until they give us an opening, there's nothing else we can do.

I didn't think it would come off that way at all.

That is what I meant by it.

I'm sorry I'm failing at explaining it. Yeah, I agree, "we'll deal with it" sounds patronizing now that I look at it. It is bad wording. It's meant as a "try not to kill yourself over it/ overthink it" thing. For some reason, kind words are not my forte. That's why I'm not sending an email.

This was probably posted by HABIT because at this point the Hybrids don't know we know about Nick, so mentioning him in the video without cutting that part out requires a huge leap in logic.
