I agree it's been a little slow but I see them developing characters more. We have seen the Operator and had a good fright moment with "Trail Dude" also known as "MP3 Frozen Man" as I call him.

In comparison to it's knock off EverymanHybrid which is a confusing, twisted clusterfuck of Youtube sites, blogs, twitters and general ridiculous overload of shit Marble Hornet progresses slowly enough where you can stay intrigued and feel the next video you're watching your ready for it.

I'll make some predictions for this "season" as we call it:
1.Alex contacts Jay, tells him to back off.
2.Jay is abducted by The operator at one point.
3.Jay has direct communication with Masky and The Operator at one point.
4.We find out why The Operator was interfering with Alex's movie production.

I think that if you're having that problem, maybe the best thing would be to stop lurking around MH for a couple of months, then come back and watch a few episodes at once. Smile Might help you to feel more engaged when you can watch it all together!

It may have been 5 degrees outside tonight but we'll be thrown into the deepfreeze again soon, and I have no where else to be till the 15th >.<. Not lurking is not an option :O! Waiting for a move (irl) sucks!

If you keep in mind the number of entries posted I don't think there's anything particularly slow about this season. I think people are feeling that way because the format has somewhat changed - season 1 started with Jay giving us random clips spaced out over an entire summer, which fit really well with the idea of getting one every couple of weeks.

Season 2 is more of a story/traditional movie - you can tell by the production values, the timing, the acting - the crew has gotten much better at making movies since part 1. I honestly appreciate all of these improvements, but feel like the timing of posts is much harder to cope with when they are meant to be a continuous story.

Basically I think they're doing a great job, and I have faith that what they have planned will still be great - after all they just made us all crap our pants about a guy messing with an mp3 player. I can't wait to see what comes out of mixing their ability to terrify us with this improved level of skill.

The fact that they have three entries out in the last month is kind of amazing, when towards the end of season one, there were only one or two entries per month!

This

I wouldn't call it slow, I think it's a good pace. I'm usually left quite excited for the next entry when one ends, and I haven't yet found myself bored of waiting.

Just when you feel like things slowed down, another step is taken. Albeit a small step, but it seems like a step in the right direction, and all good things will be revealed in time

All of this.

As somebody who got through all of season one in one sitting in about two to three hours, I was afraid season two was going to kick my ass with waiting. But I'm surprised - even though I'm not a huge forum lurker, the waits in between have felt right. Much shorter than I expected, actually (I thought maybe more twitter activity, but with a video every two to three weeks, I can't complain too much).

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It seems like it's going to pick up, too. Jay's said on his blog that things have been stalled OOG for a number of reasons, but if you take that delay and make it in-game in your mind, it's not too far fetched. Jay could be disoriented and needs time to get his bearings. Once things start happening, he'll have more to post in less time.

However, I will make one small complaint. I wanna see more footage from the seven months!! I hope that safe has a HDD in it so bad you all have no idea Shocked Also, Masky/TTA. Lots of that.

I totally forgot about the safe! That reminds me, he found a key in his bag too, didn't he? He's probably forgot about it by now, considering he forgot the lie he originally told Jessica.

It's been so focused on finding the location in 29 and on Jessica's character that I forgot about the little things. I hope some of that is revealed in the next entry, even if it's something as lame as "the key is gone..."

Just throwing this into the ring: I just watched episodes 1-17 of marble hornets and I noticed a pretty big difference. Half+ episodes have a stalking of slendy, with a chase or running away, most of it in the dark. This is what I miss, the obvious lurking danger and the "oh shit" moments. Sure we had trailguy, but the one sighting of slendy I saw didn't even make me jump. I do feel that my fear of our tall friend has gone away somewhat, but I still felt some fear while watching the stumbling through the dark of any character, in season 1. Also, locations changed so much faster and so many different things happened S1 early on, but we've been in the hotel since the season began, with zero movement with this very close-at-hand new character. In season 1, jay came right out and questioned Tim as soon as he found him. Now jay is nearly mute to other people, I'm frustrated.

Also, why is everything all daytime now? In game the character would do this yes, but Jay and Alex did lots of midnight runs S1.

The pace of the episodes themselves is slower, but that doesn't bother me too much yet. It strikes me that it's just establishing things for this season before kicking into high gear.

At least, I hope so. The thing that's worrying me is that it seems to be lacking consistency a bit. For instance, I really, REALLY don't understand why there's been no further mention of the safe. It makes no sense from either OOG or IG perspectives.

There are also a lot of loose ends from Season 1 which still haven't been addressed or even acknowledged. They may very well come into play soon so I don't want to criticise too early, but I can't help feeling a little worried that they may have been forgotten.

I honestly like the new entries more than the old ones. Maybe it's just because I'm a writer and I love character development, which these new uploads seem to be headed towards.

Yeah, I can agree with that. The emphasis in Season 1 seemed to be on creepy imagery above all else.

What do you write BranRainy? Always thought writing would be a really cool profession.

Trust me, it's not that interesting. Fun at times, yes, but payment is usually inconsistent unless you write a big hit.

But I agree with all of the above reasons. Season 1 seemed to be all about "Ooohhh!! There's going to be something behind this door... But there ISN'T!! Scaaaary!"

Season 2 is more like "Something weird's going on and you're hiding it from me. Let's see what I can find out on my own, while still trying to seem sane."

Echoing this.

I'm still just a meager film student myself, but having taken two media writing courses, I can say the pacing this season feels right so far. Somebody in the Entry #31 thread mentioned this too - Season 2 is a new arc. It's a continuation of the story, but the comparison made to the LotR movies was pretty spot-on: if we started Return of the King with the Battle of Helm's Deep and just kept watching battles the whole movie, it wouldn't have been the great movie it ended up being.

We're still in what could be the first 1/5 or 1/6 of the season, and it's understandable that we're still in the exposition of the story. I'd expect seeing some bigger developments in the next few entries, especially surrounding Jessica and the death(?) in the tunnel. Yes, we were seeing major plot developments around the first four or five entries in S1, but as lifegospel pointed out, a lot of that season was based around those horror elements, the atmosphere, the jump scares (or near-jump scares). I'm sure those will come, but the atmosphere they're creating is eerie in its own way (the hotel environment still unsettles me, and even if Trailguy was a red herring, that was one of the biggest moments of tension I had throughout the series so far, waiting to see who he was).

To each his own, though. Not everybody is going to like the pacing, even if they understand where it's coming from structurally or thematically. Like I pointed out, I have hopes for the coming eps and have my own disappointments, but I trust Troy and the rest of the cast/crew to make some good decisions. Maybe they won't, and I'll probably be among the peanut gallery then myself, but knowing that Troy reads through our praises and concerns/complaints and uses them constructively is always a good sign for any creative mind, IMO.

But now off my soap box. I wanna open that friggin' safe by entry 7-8!!

the The Hotel doesn't scare me at all Sad, I've only ever been in one twice in my life and It looked almost just like the hotel in MH. I guess I'm just so use to unfamiliar surrounding IRL that this in MH doesn't really scare me. If jay was COMPLETELY alone -no jessica - I'd find it way scarier.
