SlenderMan is simlillar to "Don't think about it." Think about it(No pun in intended) So, I think SlenderMan is simillar to "The Evil Thing" in the movie "Don't Think About it." for the simple fact when someone isn't reminded of him they seem to be fine. Proof:
Entry #26
This is what made me think of this in the first place, if you notice, when Alex's girlfriend (Amy?) films herself and other video, SlenderMan doesn't appear. Distortion and everything start when she shows Alex the camera. And, if you notice Alex's face, he looks like he just remembered something he was trying to forget, and then right after that, SlenderMan appears right behind her and try's to make up for lost time.
Also, before that, Jay shows his video in which he states "I haven't thought about it in a while." and after he finished recording that he said he recieved the text message saying "41810"
Entry #15
Jay interviews Tim, who probably forgot about the whole SlenderMan stuff a while ago. Shortly after that Masky appears, and we all know he's Tim. While this one isn't as backed up as the other two, it still makes some sense.

I agree with this entirely.
It makes so much more sense than something like the camera that captured him or the footage taken ON that camera acting as some sort of beacon to call him. I've been hearing a lot of that.

A little cheesy, but it's worth a shot.
It's made for younger kids, but if you think about what's going on it's pretty creepy.

Is that the one with Emily Osment? If it is, I used to love that movie!
The idea of thinking about Slendy makes him appear is creepy beyond all belief. It's also my favourite theory.

This has been my theory all along really, in addition, I believe Slenderman is just a perception of something. A madness, a fear, rage, lust, envy - anything sinful. This is why he appears to shift and change - he is non-corporeal and changes in relation to how his victim perceives him.

So Slendy is Silent Hill incarnate?

The consequences of "losing the Slenderman" are a bit more dire.

You lose by getting impaled by a tree branch and have your organs stuffed in a plastic bag.

This is all stuff that has been discussed before. This theory is one of the most common theories about how the Operator functions. That doesn't make it any less legit, but the OP should probably do some reading up on previous discussion threads, and this should probably have gone in the General Discussion Thread .

I had that thought the other day, but in regard to the static that occurs on the recordings when he's near something Slenderific. Thought it was worth suggesting to J that he plug a pair of in-ear headphones into one of the camcorders as a kind of makeshift Slendar. Whenever some weird stuff starts happening he gets audio distortion. Not sure he'd hear it however as I'm not sure he sees the visual distortion in the viewfinder, but it's worth a shot.
