Ha, cool - A UK ARG and it's near me!

I live about 20 minutes from Banbury. As Amandel says, the Rollright Ley passes within about half a mile of the outskirts.

I'll keep an eye, as much as I can, on this thread but if you're stuck for on-the-ground help and I'm not around just drop me a quick email.

ETA:

"Sir,

I believe I have some useful information regarding your missing persons case. The substitution cipher that you snapped with your phone was broken on a website I frequent. As someone with local knowledge, I put two and two together and would be surprised if the message referred to anything other than the Rollright Ley.
The Ley line runs North-East from the Rollright Stones outside Chipping Norton all the way to Chipping Warden and passes within half a mile of Banbury. I would suggest you focus your efforts in this area. I wish I could be more helpful, but without some more information I'm afraid this is all I can come up with.

Regards,

O."

ETA2:
TheBruce: Yup, too long matey. Been lurking but no time in amongst courses. Trying desperately to get back in to the games but nothing's really grabbing me atm - 'til this.

Well spotted, as they say the devil is in the details.

Normally L33T but leet will do.

The site is quite basic but Wallace didn't want much, nice of you to say
so though.

From about 3 hours ago.
LOL, she caught my n00b "leet" spelling.

The site has been updated. It seems our detective friend is being surveilled.
Meanwhile, more information on the physicist's current work is coming to light - apparently he was researching alternative energy.
His last known position puts him between two quite famous historic sites at Avebury and Uffington, both of which have connections to Ley lines. There is also the Ridgeway, an ancient footpath 87 miles long according to the website, that links Avebury, Uffington and beyond.
Unfortunately, you can't cast a stone without hitting a historic site in this part of the UK, so it's still unclear what he was looking for.

EDIT: 'cos I don't know English, apparently.

Ok, I'm going to jump in here. I've got a friend who lives up in Banbury (well, actually closer to Chipping Norton, but hey). So I could grill him for info/might be able to go up there soon.

[edit]oops oraclle pretty much has that covered, but still - many hands make light work!

WEIRD COINCIDENCE!
The friend I mentioned above is called Edward and is doing a degree in alternative energy sources...
I'm beginning to think his brother/mum/dad might be the PM...

Quote:
Incidentally when I asked Esmeralda what area Edward was currently working in she seem a little embarrassed to say but she finally admitted that he was working on alternative energy sources, why she would be embarrassed by that I really don't know.

I had the misfortune of contacting Louise about the new site "Bob".
Got this in return:
