[OT] Is Rinzler....Tron?
A question posed in March 2010 after viewing the first trailer!

I hope this wasn't mentioned already, but I was pouring over the trailer and noticed the character Rinzler (the program that is always wearing a helmet) and Tron (from the original movie) share the same symbols on their chest. Three squares across and one square underneath.

In the original movie, Tron was the only program with that series of symbols. So, is Rinzler related to the Tron program? Is Rinzler Tron? Why is Rinzler wearing that helmet. Most importantly, doesn't Rinzler know he's going to have really bad case of helmet hair? Laughing

Here is a pic for comparison:

Embarassed Not sure, I was thinking maybe someone could perhaps relate the symbols to the flynnlives site (it's over here http://www.flynnlives.com/zerohour.htm) or may know of any meaning to the symbols?

Could it be that Brad has taken another route into the virtual world rather than being Tron himself? Will Rinzler be able to help Sam? Maybe....

Greetings,

New member, mostly due to toiling over the glitch site (Finally figured out all 4 without help), just thought I would join for future missions. Anyway, to the topic at hand, yes, I think you could very well be on something there, about the symbolism of the blocks on Rinzler. I initially thought that Rinzler in the trailer was one of the members of Daft Punk, Thomas Bangalter, he has the round shaped robot helmet, but if you remember from the comic con trailer, he was an avatar of Kevin Flynn. All this stuff continues to an 'enthralling' online viral experience....absolutely ingenius stuff. Glad to here! Cheers!

besides the symbols blinking in a binary code after specific cards were flipped, and leading us to pitcell.com? no. don't think so.

Thomas and Guy-Man would most likely be playing in one of the pit cells or without their masks somewhere else. Just a wild guess....

That sounds pretty plausible, but I would think after Jarvis in the 'End Of The Line Club' finishes performing on his techno guitar, Daft Punk would enter the stage and take over the musical entertainment as he goes to commiserate with Sam Flynn & Quorra. But let the fan speculation run rampant till we can confirm more.

This could be a Red Herring and maybe we are talking Trout but the real question remains:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
IS RINZLER REALLY TRON?

If I was a betting man, I'd put my money on it being a version of Tron, complete with Alan Bradley's (youthful) face! But, why is he wearing the helmet? What is Rinzler hiding and why is he hanging out with Clu and the gang?

Remember, Tron was unbeatable at the throwing discs, so if Rinzler is indeed a version of Tron, he'll be SCARY in the arena.

Most of this has been discussed in the [TRAILHEAD?] Tron thread. This is not ARG related so it needs to be renamed "[OT] Is Rinzler....Tron?". Now, it is a possibility that Rinzler is Tron because like Flynn, Tron disappears. I believe that the videogame, Tron: Evolution will tell the story of what happened to Tron between 1983 and 2010 as well as shed some light on the character Rinzler.

Yeah, we been discussing this for a while now on Tron-Sector. Either, Tron's a spy/mole, working for Clu but secretly on Flynn's side or Rinzler's a security program and that "T" sign is just simply a security program's insignia.

Nevertheless, it's probably a really big spoiler.

Yeah, we started this thread in March, but with so little info out there, it's all speculation! I for one hope it's Tron, after all, the movie has his name.

Note: This is a world created and designed by Kevin Flynn. It seems obvious that he would ask Alan Bradley for a copy of Tron, to help safeguard his world... what program would he trust more? So he inputs Tron, and Clu2, and then himself...

It seems pretty clear that Tron is the one doing the fighting in the trailer for Tron: Evolution. And it seems pretty convincing that Rinzler's suit is the same as Tron's. As for the color discrepancy, remember, Flynn himself changed his colors in the original film (then changed back).

Therefore, my speculations: Rinzler could be Tron, undercover. Or Rinzler could be Tron2, a duplicate program created by Clu2 to serve his *own* purposes (all of Tron's abilities, none of his ethics).
