"REMAINS-Alternate Reality Game" The Notes Will Tell First off, I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place, I'm new
REMAINS is a new Alternate Reality Game taking the form of notes and journal entries.
Main Description:
"Hey guys.
So I that I'd score some loot in this old druggie's abandoned mansion, but when I got in there I found a shit-load of eerie sketches and notes.
I've decided to post them here. Honestly, I think they're fucking hilarious. The guy was going mad. If you want to look at them, I'll be posting them as I find them.
Thanks."

What are you talking about? Isn't it obvious?
Our friend Slendy has added more formal wear to his gown!
But, in all seriousness... This reaks of ARGness... I don't know... I sense it...

Seems more like a webcomic and associated blog than a game. Where's the interaction? If it was an ARG, would the "hard to decipher" handwriting not have been presented for the players to decipher? If it IS an ARG, the PMs missed a trick there.

Mind telling us how you know this is an ARG?

... There's no interaction... yet...
And think about it... MarbleHornets is considered an ARG, yet that has pretty much no interaction as well...

The definition has changed and the genre has evolved. (I didn't always like this, but I've had to accept it.)
For some, the "alternate reality" label just means it's a story taking place in a fictional version of our own reality, and that it takes itself seriously enough and touches enough of our real world to allow us to merge with it. The "game" portion can mean as little as setting up the challenge to dig thru scraps of evidence to figure out just what that story is. As for "interaction", that doesn't always mean that the participants will change the story, just that they'll have to take steps on their own to find as much or as little as they choose, and these days it almost always involves Facebook or a blog or some form of social media, lending many people to link all "transmedia" to the label of ARG.
(my own opinion, duh)

Yeah, I know... The game sometimes doesn't mean much anymore... And I'm as ticked off by it as you are...
Luckily, there are enough ARG's out there to actually participate in that we generally forget about "games" like MH and such...
Nevertheless, although the definition changed, the heart of the game is still the same: have fun, and cause speculation.
We should change ARG's like MH to ARM's... Alternate Reality Movies... It's like Inception... Something to cause speculation... We'll see if the definition changes... or we create a new category...
Anyway, enough of metadiscussion, we still have to figure out the reason Mr. Top Hat is stalking our paranoid partner...

Oh my golly! I didn't think anyone would reply!
The story hasn't gotten much anywhere yet, we're going to include some photo evidence to toss in there as well in the future.

Ah, so you know it's an ARG because you're a puppetmaster. I advise you read that sticky topic up top there, the one that says something about 'READ THIS BEFORE YOU POST YOUR NIFTY NEW CAMPAIGN' or something like that.

Agreed... Please don't pull back the curtain this early in the game...

I like the general premise....although general is all we have to work with on this so far. It does sound like it could be a good ARG but I have to agree and say the curtain needs to be closed. Appreciate the confirmation of what it is but just throw the new entries and sketches out there and we'll take care of the rest.
