 Act I: The Induction
Starting your experience? Ask your questions, get *some* asnwers ;)

Since the original thread is getting quite large, I think it might be a good idea to separate each Act (or episodes) into their own thread.

Since this "experience" is quite different from most ARG's out in the stratosphere these days, players can enter at any time, allowing them to play out the events when they see fit. This means many new players are inducted every day, and many of them are lead to this forum via google.

That means if you are recently inducted to the Jejune Institute, WELCOME! This is just the start of a pretty awesome journey.

Any questions, concerns, or observations about the "induction process" should be left here. Also, if you so wish, drop by and introduce yourself. Chances are we will all meet sometime in the future Wink

One huge issue the producers have to face is the fact that the city changes quite constantly. Many times clues can be destroyed or changed, causing some players to be quite confused. For this reason, if you see anything out of place, let us know! Thanks!

For this act, a few sites that may be useful.

A blogger detailing her encounters with divine nonchalance around the city:

http://katyzwick.blogspot.com/

The lack of updates on her blog past Act 1 makes it seem that she isn't as connected to all this as we might have thought but 90% of her posts are concerning the Jejune Institute so it remains to be see what will happen to her.

For those who have reached the end of this act this may help you:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
When the nonchalance site first came out there were only a few cards floating around but since then they've allowed visitors to sign up and create their own. this has made things a bit cluttered. to see the original cards that have the most relevance check them out here:

If you go to Jejune on a Sunday, at a certain point, your elevator may think the fourth floor is closed and refuse to take you there.

If you go to the third floor and look around, you might find a freight elevator with no such restrictions...

New to everything

Greetings, I saw a youtube video from "sfsecrets" or something where he visits the Jejune Institute. It piqued my interest, so I finally went there the other day. Damn! I guess I'm extremely late to the party. I'd like to get up to speed with everything, so I'm hoping for help.

Do most of the clues still exist? Here's where I'm stuck:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I found the "store with beautiful things," but couldn't find any of the elsewhere envelopes for sale. If they aren't there any more, is there a way around that?

Thanks for any guidance!

Thanks for the quick reply. That's good to know. I was close to just trying to skip ahead using spoilers.

Store

Also, when in doubt, just ask the store clerks. No need to kill yourself looking for a needle in a haystack when someone with a big magnet is standing next to you.

In this ARG, my fellow game mate is amazed at how brazen I am in just asking the guy at the counter.

Hello everyone! I'm new to this. I read about the JI almost a year and last Friday I finally went to check it out. Afterward I found this forum and I've been reading like mad while trying to avoid spoilers. I'm planning to go to Dolores park sometime today to get started on act two.

One thing I wanted to mention is that the price of the item you will need to buy in act one has gone up to $1.50 +tax. If you know anyone who is about to embark on their journey, advise them to take $2 instead of $1.

I know there have been some amazing events in the past, and I would have loved to have been there! I don't want to open the threads for acts three and four for fear of spoilers, so I feel compelled to ask: Are there any big goings on expected in the near future? Should I be rushing to catch up?

One last and totally unrelated thing- while browsing through Flickr I came upon a photo of two of you lovely people playing ukuleles. I PLAY UKE TOO!!! I was so excited to see that picture. Uke players are taking over the world!

so far there are no one-time events coming up so you can take your time. Act IV just got underway so it'll be a little while before we see any new stuff crop up to transition to Act 5... glad you've finally decided to embark on this adventure.

also thanks for the heads up on the envelopes.

The Induction has been updated.

No more need to go out on a balcony that people apparently didn't want us going out on.

yeah i did this about a week ago. though i miss the vista of the balcony i think i like this fix better because it feels a lot more 'underground' and we get to see the missing poster again. oh and we hear from Eva's dad in the very beginning now too.

hello there. i donno if you've looked at the rabbit holes for this ARG yet but i think you'll be disappointed to find that you actually gotta go to locations in SF to experience 90% of what the ARG has to offer.
