[CHARACTER] Brian

Alright, here's our task:

List everything we know about Brian. If you have speculation, mark it as such. This is going to be used in the wiki. Here's what we have so far; if there's anything that you can think we have learned in addition to this, let me know.

Quote:
Brian was the lead actor on Marble Hornets, and a friend of both Alex Kralie and Tim. He appears in Entry 7, Entry 12, and the Advocate Video.

In J's interview with Tim in Entry 15, we learned that Brian lived near Alex and was the one who introduced Alex and Tim to each other. That interview also revealed that, like Alex, Brian has not been seen in some time.

After seeing Advocate, J decided he needed to find Brian, and received a tip that he could find him at the house in Entry 16.

As of Entry 19, Brian is still missing.

Is it relevant that Brian's house is supposedly the one seen in many of the entries? I think it's important to note that Alex, Jay, Tim/Masky, and Slendy have been seen there at various points in time, but Brian hasn't.

There's plenty more to be said about that house, like the fact that a bullet casing and somebody's dried blood were seen there, but it's not all necessarily relevant to the character.

Brian was completely oblivious to the Operator standing in the alley behind him in Entry 7. Regardless of the fact that Alex looked right past him at It.

Brian lived with Alex for a good portion of the Marble Hornets filming, if I remember correctly.

Rather, I think that Alex moved in with Brian; or at least, Alex moved into Brian's house. We never saw the two of them together in the house.

We did also see blood splashes in the Operator's basement; Alex's head wound could have had something to do with the sink full of blood, too.

Brian seems to have been considered missing in #20, which we know was June-ish by Tim's remark. That means that he probably disappeared fairly early into the runnings, either that, or he went missing for a time, came back and they didn't remember his absence, and then went missing again!

Here's a question that I want to throw out there to see if there's anything to it:

Entry 22

In this entry, Alex and Brian are scouting locations together I believe? I'm not able to check it, but I remember it was in the basement. Alex says something along the lines of Tim, Jay, and Sarah are all gone. But not Brian. Who.... actually goes missing.

Along with that, does nobody find it odd that Brian went missing? Granted Alex dropped everything and just bailed on everyone, but he couldn't have been the only thing tying all of the cast for Marble Hornets together.

That sounded a lot better in my head... /facepalm

Edit: No, wait. According to the Wiki entry, Seth was filming. And the exact quote was: "They're all gone… Tim, Jay, Sarah…"

Alex says that Brian's missing, along with the others.

And, yeah, we do find it odd. There's just really nothing explaining why he's gone, or why the others might be gone, etc.

In Entry 17, it is said that Brian went to the store.

In Entry 20, it is said that Brian "is... somewhere, I don't know"

The picture that is zoomed in on twice in Entry 20 is Brian's.

The house seen in entry 16, 18, 20, and 23 is Brian's house.

Brian is only ever seen in Entry 7, Entry 12, and the Advocate Video.

Speculation:
It is possible that Brian went missing (or "gone") some point between Entry 7 and 17.

Keeping in mind that the videos weren't shown in chronological order, so 7 could have been after 17!

Yeah, I think one of the main things to take away from Entry #20 was that The House is (or was) Brian's house. It was kind of unclear prior to that point.

Alex's surroundings in Entry #3, however, don't look like any part of Brian's house (and we've seen all of it except for the other side of that hallway closet door, afaik). That shows us either that a) Alex had his own house, but moved into Brian's at some point, b) Alex lived with Brian originally, but moved out when he realized that the house was full of Operator influence (?), or c) Alex went to a cabin in the woods or something weird for Entry #3.

Also, I'm just gonna throw this out here -- I always thought that we were supposed to buy that the boiler room in #22 and #23 was in Brian's basement. We see J run towards the closet in the hallway, then distortion and he's suddenly in the boiler room. That always made me think that we're supposed to believe that the closet door is actually a basement door. Confused I know it's another location OOG, but still. Everyone acts afraid to go up the stairs when they're down there, which would make sense if they have to hide the fact that it's not really Brian's basement.

Since this is going on the Wiki, I uses the chronological ordering of the entries provided on the wiki as a basis to place that speculation.

Granted, the ordering may be off, but until a deeper analysis is done, it is the best theory we have as to the chronological ordering.

Brian's house is also seen in the videos Addition (which is simultaneous to Entry #16), Return (meaning, in Entry #19 Jay was taken from his own house to Brian's house), and Admission (goading Jay into coming back).

I always interpreted the location change of Alex to imply that at some point while he was trying to escape the Operator, Alex moved in with Brian/into Brian's house. I somehow feel like this happened after Brian "disappeared", aka stopped showing up in the entries.

But since this is about Brian, this idea that he disappeared... well, it's absolutely intriguing, but I think it's one of those things that will be left ambiguous, one of those things we'll never get an answer for. I mean, he COULD have just been getting snacks, or "somewhere I dunno", but considering how the emphasis is put on his not being present at least twice, and no one seems to care that they're using his house in his absence, it seems relevant on some level.

But if the strange bathhouse IS in Brian's basement, or even if his house was Operator-touched in some day, that brings some interesting implications into play. What if Brian was going through something similar to Jay, but somehow got got by our tall friend? Got lost in the basement, maybe? Then Jay seeking refuge in his vacated, Operator-corrupted home, is very, very strange. I doubt he would have went to stay at Brian's if he KNEW of the Operator's presence there, which implies some sort of subconscious lure, or influence from the Operator.
