Easily one of my least favorite Entries of the series. They've taken anything interesting out of the Masky character by having him bumble around like this was an episode of Benny Hill.

HEY GUYS I'M MASKY. I'm going to stand in the corner and let J pick up his flashlight right before I *flamboyant slap*. Oh shoot. How could that not have worked?! Now I'm going to chase J down the hall with my arms out like I'm a character from Minecraft.

He's just not an interesting character anymore. When he was the mysterious dude in Brian's house charging at the camera it was great. It's been on a downward decline since he did his silly Spiderman pose while J was asleep.

And that thread where people were asking who you found scarier, Slenderman or Masky. It's ridiculous. A super tall, faceless, suit-clad, powerful dark force or a herp derp dude in a K-Mart coat and blue jeans that wears a mask and if anything is just being brainwashed by the true terror of the series.

You're losing me Marble Hornets. This season started out with such promise but now it's just becoming self parody.

Really? That "herp derp dude" seems to be the only character who continues to have ANY knowledge of the way the Operator works - that "powerful dark force" - and he has consistently managed to menace Jay, including manipulating his entire life, destroying his home, and being able to effortlessly track him across god knows how many hotels. Masky showed up out of NOWHERE to attack Jay right when he knew it would be necessary.

When it comes to unknowable eldritch horrors, the scariest parts are the people who have an agenda that relates to them and some knowledge of the entity's motives.

How about a herp derp tall faceless dude in a suit that's done nothing but stand around, or a deranged/brainwashed human that has attacked you in the past, and has complete control of your life? Don't get me wrong, Slendy is plenty scary, but as evidenced but Masky takes action. How was Entry 18 the only Masky appearance you liked? The scary part about Masky is the control he has over Jay, and the mystery of his intentions.

I'm thinking that this entry will bring things full circle. I think that by giving him these tapes, TTA is bringing Jay back on track to finding the ark. Personally, I think Jay first teamed up with Jessica. Whatever they were doing was stopping Jay from finding the ark, so Masky put him to sleep for 7 months to forget about whatever it was they did.

Hmm... I actually have another theory.

Judging from the distortion on the tape, it's fairly obvious the Operator was nearby. Is it possible Timasky attacked just to scare Jay out of the hotel so he'd get away, to convince him to not dawdle around looking for Jessica, so he wouldn't get zapped by the Operator again?

Anyone else consider the possibility that since Jay's door was closed, he warped into another room in the hotel that wasn't Jessica's?

I hope she's ok, I miss her already Sad

That's a nice idea, but I don't think it would make much sense in this situation. I miss her too, I hope she hasnt been brutally slaughtered by the Operator.

The safe code

I think I figured out where the safe code came from.

Here's the code in case anyone forgot: 1102

What room is Jessica in?

211.

0211.

1102.

See what I did there? Very Happy If the same pattern is followed then the safe in Jessica's room should have the code 0902, as J's room number is 209. This of course assumes that J goes back for her safe at some point...

I knew the room numbers had something to do with it... rawr!

I've seen a lot of "where's Jay's laptop and stuff?" and "why is the door closed?"

If jay said "keep your door open, we gotta leave" I'm assuming he packed his car up before he went back to her (Hey, I'll only be gone for a minute, it's not like anything bad could happen, right?). So I assume he has his backpack and laptop and all his crap. And he probably drove a few days before uploading

I'm firmly in the camp with the "this is the same night" train of thought.

Entry 32 Jay

Entry 33 Jay

I realize the lighting is different, but it looks to me that he's wearing the same clothing. which seems to me that it's the same night as before. just something i wanted to clear up.

Also, the end seems like masky is running for jessica's room, not for jay. Absolutely no evidence here to support that, just a thought.

I'm not sure, but wasn't the lamp to the side of the desk in the beginning of E#33 on the desk in E#32? This could account for the lighting change. That and he may have turned on more lights while packing...

Thank you! It was annoying the living daylights out of me that no one was speculating that Jessica's safe might also have stuff. But really, this seems to be a fairly logical conclusion. Since:
A. Judging from the way Jay's safe functions, it is probable that the safes are based on the "If its closed, its locked" mechanism that almost every hotel safe in America works on.
B. It reacts the same as Jay's safe when an incorrect code is inputed, displaying the text "E-COdE"
C. (More speculative, less fact) Jessica, judging from Entry 32, was probably in the same situation as Jay, and woke up with a locked safe.

Which begs the VERY interesting question, what's in her safe? Plus, this almost garuntees a return to the hotel of horrors. (A bit off-topic, but as far as Jay not paying for the hotel, I find that a bit bogus. Every hotel I've ever stayed at I've paid for beforehand.)

Something else that's really bothering me about this is the fact that no one is REALLY discussing what this means that Masky knew the code combination. (As for the people who are dedicated to the idea that Jessica wrote the code, you can ignore this. Though, do we have an example of Tim's handwriting? It might make this easier.)

What does this mean if Masky knew the code? To me, there's only a few options.
A. Masky put the tapes there.
B. Masky was superstalking and saw Jay input the numbers
C. Jay is JUST THAT predicatable.
D. Jay told him, sometime during the seven months.

Also, I'm glad we at least now know what that flashlight was for: Masky Whackin'.

yeah. i have no clue what the heck that's all about. really really really baffling, actually. though you can see where his computer normally is is gone. for those worried about that.

It's also on different sides of the room. the pic from 32 is from the desk, while the safe is on the bed's side of the room. (i think? i'm a little confused by the geometry of the room. but i think i'm correct here, since there's no way for jay to have that view of the door when he's going through the safe)

Yeah, it seemed that way for me too.

If Masky is on J's side, ie. protecting him, pointing him in the right direction, etc., then for one thing he becomes a lot less sinister and we should be happy when he appears. Also if that is true, then why can't he communicate properly to J? I have my doubts that Masky is a benevolent figure.

I think this could support the theory I posted above? That since Jay's door was closed, he warped into another room in the hotel, not Jessica's. If Masky was heading for her room, why use the door from the hall if the adjoining room door was there and open?

yeah it did seem like he ran into jessicas room but jay turned back around right before you could definitely tell if totheark was chasing him or going somewhere else
