Guys, what the fuck? Allow me to paraphrase my own Tumblr:

"It bugs me when suddenly everyone in here is Roger Ebert discussing zero-budget productions like they're Hollywood blockbusters. These are college kids with Handycams and Flips producing independent projects with no film school, and little acting experience at the best of times.

Saying that acting is "regrettable", "bad", "terrible", and complaining, even tongue-in-cheek, about the interests of the actors, smacks of pretentious douchebaggery."

This.

Also, I thought it was well edited and had an awesome end jump that gave me the jibblies. So what if you think acting is sub par, it doesn't take away from the story or plot. And, if somehow you happen to think that the acting does take away from the story/plot, you're viewing the vlog wrong.

If no one told you TribeTwelve was to similar to Marble Hornets, it would still be similar to Marble Hornets, thus giving you a smaller fan base and it would also rob us of an amazing series. I admit I could have phrased my comment better, but fact of life is, you need critisims to know what needs to be improved.

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but oh well screw it.

I just started rewatching the series and, right at the beginning of Journal #1, Michael says that he started the channel so that his doctor can keep up with him.

Have we heard anything about the doctor since then, or was it just a plot device to get the series started?

For me, the problem was not that the acting was bad, but that the acting was a step down from what I know these people are capable of. People have complained about Stormy and Shaun's acting in earlier videos, but I honestly thought that they were great until this video. And the video was fucking fantastic. I agree that Slendy here was beautifully done (almost reminded me of Slendy in the Windigo movie, in a good way) and Patrick in the elevator (and everywhere else he appeared) was a great effect, but the acting was worse than I've come to expect from this series in particular. Not shit, not ruining-the-video bad, just disappointing.

I think that most of my problems actually stem from the fact that Stormy in this video sounds exactly like I do when I'm reading aloud

@slice: I think it was mentioned that the doctor had left town unexpectedly, never coming back. I think it was during some sort of chat with a fan that Michael had at some point. May be wrong, though.

Thank you, qaqa; very well said.

There's a difference between complaining and critiquing. If I was a creator and my fans--not random viewers, but those who actively follow and interact with my series--thought something wasn't working, I'd want to know. Is there a more appropriate place to take such critique? I'll be happy to take my thoughts there instead.

I can and do overlook less-than-professional acting when watching amateur vlogs. But as I said, I was initially drawn to MLA because I found the lead to be so convincing. That's what drew me to MLA, the same way MH drew me in with its mystery & suspense, and EMH with its complex plot. I wouldn't critique the acting in either of those series. But if MH's plot suddenly became predictable or EMH slapped on a simple ending, I'd be disappointed, and would probably voice that disappointment. You can bet that if TT suddenly dropped its editing and effects, fans would be scratching their heads. I can only speak for myself, and it's of course just one fan's opinion, but that's all I was doing.

And personally, I find quoting one's own blog to be rather pretentious in itself. Rolling Eyes

I don't usually speak negatively about vlogs like this; I just stop watching and keep my mouth shut. But I'd be bummed to give up on this one when its start was so promising. I really think the creators could take some cues from the fans and salvage this. Maybe put Stormy more in the background and bring Eric back into focus. He was kind of a douche, but a convincing one, and loads more likeable.

Hmm...am I the only one who really, really likes Stormy? I personally like the focus that the series has her on now. I think her character is clicking incredibly well with the other characters. Someone has to take Shaun to task about his behaviour towards his brother and let's face it, he does seem to be rather a douchebag.

This entry wasn't quite as polished as other entries in places, but it was still very, very good entry. That said, I'm not above criticism - although I really, really like Patrick, I do feel that his slightly camp goes agasint the realism that this series started off. I'm still really, really enjoying the series, though.

Where did it say anywhere in my post about not needing criticism? Of course criticism is needed, I'm not downplaying that at all. I'm just saying to focus on the story, not the acting. Don't make it seem like I am rejecting criticism. But, as tijde said, there's a fine line between complaining and critiquing.

Where in our comments did we say bad acting was detracting from story.

Ok I done with this, I apologize to nimbus if I offended you, personally I think you are awesome, I do not retract my comment about critisizems, or my complaint about acting, but let's agree to disagree and talk about an otherwise great entry.

Quote pyramids are the worst. It takes seconds to edit a quote.

The acting of Stormy is bad as Jessica in Marble Hornets and there is Daniel Overacting Lewis kind of talking. Lets yell for no reason course the potty mouth language plain dumb. Final the Jersey comment oh no MLA could by prehaps the six degrees be related to like other vlogs. Plus the whole jedi like Slenderman force push is all over the comments in video. My other gripe let us just wander of camera while Slenderman plays the special place game in the closet. Call it Slenderman raping in the closet. Final new video done most inside due to cold weather people. The room keeps looking more lthere hotel front of lobby with checkered floor. By the way could have more video having people film the floor and up. Hate to say I still enjoyed his video.
