Shaun probably thought that after exposing he was on anti-psychotics and in the hospital we probably wouldn't believe Michael or take him so seriously.

I assumed he thought that we would find the footage of him getting Roofied/beaten objectionable, to say the least.

That too.

I got to say I feel almost as sorry for Shaun as I do for Michael. He was a kid when he supposedly helped put Michael into a mental institution (though exactly what happened needs to be explained for me to believe Michael. Your brother saying "Michael believes a big weird man was following us but he wasn't there and I fell and broke my leg" does not result in someone being locked up in an insane asylum for 16 years, there's clearly more to it than that).

Now he's been drugged and choked, which hardly helps Michael's case at all, and even if Shaun does start to believe him, it's just going to make him more afraid of what Michael might do next. I completely understand Shaun buggering off, and don't blame him. This doesn't mean I don't feel sorry for Michael, but I wouldn't heap as much blame on him as Michael seems to.

Well, Slendy does tend to massacre dead animals around the homes of his victims. I wouldn't be surprised if Michael got blamed for that and that's almost always a precursor to psychopathy. I have a feeling someone died and Michael got blamed. How they kept him past his 21st birthday remains to be explained.

Honestly it doesn't make me like Michael more. He effectively kidnapped, drugged, and then wailed mercilessly on his brother when the latter was in no state to defend himself against assault. I feel like Unforum doesn't have much perspective when it comes to Michael, unfortunately -- just try and imagine how differently you would have responded if the roles had been reversed.

But he was a put in a mental hospital for his whole childhood because his brother lied about not seeing some stalking tall creepy dude. You know, ruin my childhood, I'll beat you up until you admit you're the liar.

Michael may have also really had some sort of break. It would remain to be seen whether it was caused by SM or being in the hospital for so long. Needless to say being pissed at the events and having issues do not make for the best of choices.

I think it's also worth noting that if Michael wasn't psychotic or suffering all those years from a mental disorder, and was still on medications for some disorder, well, that's going to have a serious effect on a "normal" mind. I wonder what kind of damage has been to done to him after all these years of medications if there wasn't anything wrong with him.

This is probably a little thing, but I'm confused about ages. Michael's channel says he's 21, but if he was in a mental institution for 16 years that would mean he was admitted when he was 5. Alternatively in the video, they say he was put away when he was 8, which would make him somewhere around 24 at this point. Did I f*ck something up or should we just assume the YouTube channel is wrong?

Doesn't YouTube limit new users to those who say they are 18 or older? I remember making my account when I was like 12 but I lied about my age so that I could join. He might have made the channel a while back or something. But since he was in a mental institution that doesn't really make sense... Nevermind I guess ha.

He wouldn't have lied about being younger.

Unless he was younger than 21 when he made it...

Michaels anger does seem to call Slendy out from the shadows.

Yeah, seeing that picture again, I am kind of disappointed that Michael is the main character. His actor would have made a better Slendy than whoever they have in the suit, on account of actually being tall and slender.

So I don't know if this has been mentioned, but...what is this picture?

I know this is a late post and the conversation has moved on somewhat, but this doesn't look like just Slendy to me.. It looks like there is a second, smaller figure, either holding him or being held to with an arm.

Gonna have to re-watch the video to check.

Yeah, but the actor that plays Michael is a beast in front of the camera. Still, they could have found a different sized Slenderman.

Of course isn't part of the Slenderman myth that he can change size? Maybe he's just particularly stout in this instance.

Not able to log in

But it's time to update my theory

Back when they were younger, Mike did what most people did. He created an imaginary friend. However, instead of a friend, he made it more scary. When he showed this friend to Shaun, Shaun saw it too being so young. Weird stuff started happening. They feared this new projection, and one day ran away from it. Shaun broke his leg.

^^gist

The parents let it go for awhile because most kids have imaginary friends, but when Shaun got hurt, they have to ask. Mike swears up and down that they were running from the man in the suit. Shaun denies it. He doesn't want to believe it. Mike's parents think he's batshit insane, and he goes to the mental hospital.

Being completely alone, he has nothing to do but to turn that imaginary friend into his ONLY friend. When he's sad, he has someone there to comfort him. When he's angry, he has someone there to have his back.

He gets out. He shows us. Brings back memories for Shaun. Shaun is still in denial. But then he starts seeing it. He freaks, and leaves. He tries to get Mike to show the tape of Mike freaking out, but doesn't expect Slendy to be there due to his own denial.

All I can see is Shaun finally realizing something in future videos, and for right now, I'm keeping my theory as the projection theory.

TL;DR Slendy was created by Mike, was his only friend in the hospital, and is now a projection based on his emotions.
