They took a ton of footage from vlogs on this website. I mean a ton. I can't even count how many unidentified pieces are in it.
But nothing can be done about it, because fair use dictates they can get away with it.
But yeah, that's pretty shitty. And annoying.

I think it's in really poor taste that it's framed as if the fictional monster was the most important part of the crime. Because who gives a damn about the girl who got stabbed, I guess?

Uhm, are you serious? Just like every other docu about a crime, it's about the criminal not the victim. The motivation in this one is very much the most important part of this crime. I repeat, this isn't a biopic about the victim, it's about the two disturbed girls who couldn't see where the lines were blurred between reality and fiction. It's important, even if you all take personal offence to it {and you can't even attempt to convince me you guys don't, because you all get up in arms as if someone claimed it was your fault they did this} - it happened, it's real, these girls believed this shit.

Myself and another creator saw the premiere for it last month. It was just poorly written, and ultimately couldn't decide or convince the audience if the Slenderman was a force for evil, or good. A mess of a film, although I will say it was well edited. The people behind it actually bragged that they just found out about the stabbing, and only then did they discover Slendy and begin their "research". The sections covering the children was also disquieting, and was not partial in my eyes at all. This film ruined my night. I fucking hate it. Other than that, you should watch it and decide for yourself.

new movie!!! So I thought I'd add this on here instead of making another thread(whatever you call these). While going on Facebook I looked to the right where the news feed is and saw that a Slender Man movie is being made and is suppose to come out 2017. It says that David Birke has written the script. Interesting, but I'll believe it when I see it

I am expecting The Jinx levels of re-enactments in this documentary.

HBO aired this movie on January 23, 2017.
Below is a link to an intelligent review of this movie, which says the producers have missed a lot of the real history of Marble Hornets, tulpas, and mythos.

Stupid shit like this film is what seems to be giving Marble Hornets and other good slenderverse series a bad name, and as a fellow writer and creator that really pisses me off. The fact that big corporations think they can waltz on in and use content made by a couple of inspired and creative people, completely fuck it's reputation, and make a bad film about it makes me question how much larger directors really care about film making and writing.
And yes, while there are a lot of shitty slenderman series out there that are just "omg i saw tall man in suit in my backyard and got scared" and are edited in movie maker. At the same time, there are some really amazing and creative series that work with their limitations and use it to their advantage. I basically owe my interest in video to Marble Hornets and THAC (rip). So seeing things like this be done by mainstream media really makes me angry.

Since I'm not residing in the US, I can't stream it online as of right now, I'd like to hear people's feedback on it. However I'd like to hear a open minded perspective, like how does it hold up as an actual documentary. I know I'm probably asking in the wrong place but too many people on Facebook are hung up on the fact that HBO used Slendervlog footage without consent or credit(which isn't right, don't get me wrong, but not illegal).
I just want to know if it's worth seeing, I don't want to hear fans whining and sucking up to creators saying they'll file a lawsuit, I just want to know what's it like as a fan of documentaries and films, not as a slenderverse fan.
