[OT] Marble Hornets Game
This should exist, man.

Mellodragon and I were discussing this, and got to thinking that MarbleHornets would make a GREAT Amnesia-the-dark-descent style horror survival game. You would play as Jay, and like Amnesia, you wouldn't have any weapons, only your camera and Maglight. The game would be in first person through a camera lens, of course- you'd have to solve puzzles and explore areas to find new tapes and piece together both Alex's story and your own missing memories. The camera would be your ally but also a double-edged sword- having it on would increase paranoia and make Operator sightings more likely. But if left off for too long, your chances of blacking out and waking up somewhere completely devoid of memory would increase. The camera would also serve as a really good way to know if a foe was close by via distortion. And of course Masky would be there to foil you and push you along the path to... well, the ark, I guess.

If I had any game-design and programming skills whatsoever I would totally ask Troy and Joseph permission to make this game >.>

I'm going to college for game design, but it would be a couple years before I could do enough to make this game as awesome as it should be. I agree that this would be an amazing game and would definitely play it if it ever actually were made.

Jadusable has a team making a horror game for his ARG. Maybe we could ask Jadusable (after the ARG is over of course) if he could get his team in contact with Troy and Joseph.

Troy and Joseph wouldn't go for it. They don't collaborate with people. They very much just adhere to their own stuff and don't venture out at the suggestions of other people. They'd probably just go 'Cool idea' and then let them do it.

Unity (http://unity3d.com) would be a good environment for something like this. It's free to develop/distribute games, and you can make 3D browser-based games in it.

I could tackle the coding side. We'd still need models/textures/sounds, but I'm sure a few people on these boards have experience with those things.

What if it was a Multiplayer game? like Team Masky and Team Jay??

That would eliminate a lot of the tension. It would be generic after that. Take Dead Space and Dead Space 2, for example. Both single players have very tense moments, and very creepy/interesting moments that you can savor and replay again and again. With the Multiplayer of the second game, all sense of tension and fear and interest is lost as you simply gather a group of players to run-and-gun to the generic objective.

Seems like a really great idea if someone can execute it properly.

Sounds a lot like Silent Hill.

Unity is what Jadusable is using for his game, by the way.
