It has to be 1968 or later when this happens. That is the last model year on those cars when the lights are going off and monsters are about. You can argue the train crashed sooner but highly unlikely since the kid is at the accident scene etc when they are filming. however it crashes at night, they are filming during day, but then he is there at night amongst wreckage. ..confused. agg


I agree, its later than 68. What was the consensus before, 1978/9? That would fit with the 10+ year old cars on the small used sales lot.

So here is how I see it.

The kids were filming a movie at dusk, for zombie creep factor..
Close to train tracks on their way home,
Nightfall fell and train crashed,
Dropped camera in the wreckage trying to escape,
Returned the next morning to view the wreckage and Military was on scene (hence the military Helicopter in background of zombie boy pic),
Retrieved the camera,
Watched the film and saw the creature and ran in fear knocking the camera over (scariest thing he ever saw)....

 		Nice job on the quality of the clip, Kosmopol.

After viewing it several times, I gotta say: The "purple beam" people are claiming to see is just a crack in the lens, and the light shifting as the camera bounces makes it appear to be something it's not.

First time you can notice the crack, around frame 2:


Half way through the clip:


And finally, the last frame:


What interests me more is what appears to be a figure in the top right. It's probably another case of pareidolia, but you never know.

You're right, I also see the developement of the lens crack, while of falling. And your point with pareidolia is important. We should be cautious, unless people will see Giant Turtles again, as they did it in Cloverfield posters Smile
But I also think, we should examine the reflection, since I have a feeling (either if it's subjective perhaps), that they put the camera falling down in front of spectators specially for us, as were the reflection post-prostproducted.

It could be. He is the first man in the hat we've seen so far. Actually, this hat is not really fitting in that time, so perhaps we should watch out for it. He recalls me on Observer from Fringe, btw.

 		I agree that we should still investigate it, I'm just a little more cautious about seeing things since I was part of Cloverfield, what with the demons in the hair and giant whales and such Laughing

That said, if there is a figure in the top-right of the lens, it looks organic, not like it's man-made. Something up there definitely looks to be moving during the last 2-3 frames, though it could just be a matter of the 'audience' camera moving in towards the camera on screen.

 		Alright my crack at the plotish...

Kids filming movie... train crashes... they drop camera and book it.

Camera stays on films ET crawling out.

Kids get camera continue on with movie, army shows up no one knows whats going on so they film army doings.

All things hush hush till mohership comes to get there buddy, army goes crazy human kind shows its dark side.

Maybe kids review film see ET, maybe meet it.. its friendly. ET is not bad guy..WE ARE..fear misunderstandings..bring on the bombs

Army blows up town... hunting ET and mothership... mother ship retaliates a bit.. but we blow it to smithereens..along with any dignity we may have had as a species


……uhhhh….maybe…

Fedora guy...looks a little GREY to me, fingers look long and spindly on hand..3 fingers thumb

I think what looks like a glowing Godzilla eye is really a light on a lamp post... and that we are not seeing a Cloverfield-like creature head.

 		filming in Super-8
as a kid who actually filmed in Super-8 back in the day, you had to get the film developed before you could view it in a projector (which had a really hot bulb). The "Main Street" scene shows the kids riding their bikes across the street to Olsen's shop, possibly to get their film developed or pick it up after it came back from being developed.

Some of the flashes seen in the camera lens remind me of the look of a frame of film that got burned by the projector bulb (which happened when a single frame was exposed to the hot bulb for too long) - it sort of melted the image and let flashes of light and melted colors hine brightly through the image.

In case you are interested (from someone who grew up in Weirton where the movie was filmed), when you see the scene of Main Street (with the kids on the bikes in daylight), they are near a store. Right beyond that store is a fenced lot - this is where the spaceship was filmed at night.
Beyond that fence are some trees and a building, and right past those (still on the right side of the street) was where they filmed the used car lot.

 		Again, how does this trailer help us out with this ARG?
Okay two pictures of message boards that indicate missing dogs. A four piece picture that may give us a blurry image of the creature of question. How does all of this tie in with Fergus Falls? Any missing dogs there? Why direct us that way? Could Josh be the Fedora guy, not we've concluded his ethnicity. So how does all of this tie together? Am I missing something?

I was just wondering the same thing, I think the boards are getting over whelmed with misinformation.
