Nice! I had a feeling Meg S. Street might be an anagram of some sort. It struck me as an odd name for a person. But I didn't research it further.

Re: Email

Quote:

My email was entitled "Thank You!", from Meg Sarah Street, and contained an image attachement called "oddjobs_reply.jog" which had the odd jobs logo and the ciphertext in.

Also a curtain-shredding disclaimer at the bottom which reads "Note this email and website is for entertainment purposes only"

Thanks!

I did the same thing today! But as I got: "Meagerest Trash" I decided not to post it.
"Stratagems Here" does make ya wonder.

I've tried everything as a vigenere key for the cipher document. bah!

Did'nt noticed this before but this is a still image from the video. I think Jaco6zladd3r has something to do with John 'Jacob' Henry. I defenitely think it's a clue..but how? Confused

There is 2 really odd things about this picture.

1 - That's the same year he got married according to his death certificate.
2 - This is a grave stone, but also according to his death certificate he wasn't dead until 1983 when the stone says 1971.

http://www.argn.com/images/oldsoldiers_death.jpg

No one predicts the date of their death and buys a headstone for it.
If Jaco6zladd3r is something to do with John Henry then he's either really old and not dead, or time travel is involved, which seems to be a pretty possible answer right now.

I also noticed the name below him on the stone, is that meant to be his wife's name?
Because the death cert also shows his wife's name being Marie BonTemps, not Mary Eliza Henry like the stone says.

Well done for taking the shot of the video Moontje, there's definitely some weird things on that stone.

I suppose we still have things to solve - the letter jumble for example. Anyone had any luck?

There are a total of 734 characters, which is unremarkable except for being an even number. Do we know any ciphers which split the letter strings into 5 letter segments? Doesn't playfair do that?

So far, me and my team have deduced that the cipher is likely a columnar transposition cipher, probably double. It was used during WW2, which makes sense. But without the codewords, it's nigh impossible to crack.

I agree. I've been using that and I think I might be close to cracking it. I might take a while, though -.-"

After looking, Playfair seems quite different to that.
Could it be a Rail Fence cipher? I will start trying to use it when i get chance.

[EDIT]
It's not a Rail Fence, i found a decipher website and tried all possible amount of rails, all came up crap.

This is a really complex cipher, the frequency of all of the letters in there is way too consistent for it to be a substitution cipher, but i can't find any transposition methods which fit it either, which makes me think that these letters can't make a coherent paragraph. But then i'm new to this sort of stuff.

If it is a columnular transpotition cipher, this is a lovely website to use to decode it:
http://rumkin.com/tools/cipher/coltrans.php

Codewords I've tried:

LOKI
OLD
OLDSOLDIERS
SOLDIERS
ARMY
UNITED STATES

I suppose I could be here for hours...

I tried it along with variations.
I also looked through all the scanned documents and e-mails to see if there were any hints towards a key word, i tried everything like people's names or anything else that seemed important and got no where.

Go back a few pages to the posts around February 6th. You'll find your answers there.

Sensed that, thanks...
Oh, btw!!! Notice!!!!

The website seems down... If you enter the URL in your address bar, you pull up a blank page. Someone please cross-check this "fact." My school computers are unreliable at times...

EDIT: Checked the page source. The website is still blank for me, but the page source says that everything is pretty much the same. Right clicked a few times. Around the central area of my monitor (appx. a rectangle an inch smaller on all sides than my 17.5x12.25 inch monitor), I get a "Movie not loaded" sidebar, while around that, I get the normal "Back/Forward/etc." sidebar.
