So I tried to be clever and wrote to The Head Dude :

I can work hard but I need to know that you are playing your cards right. I have a Number of skills, but need a job that Suits me.

Is this it?

Reply:

yes, you're on the right track

now, just figure out From Alpha To Beta.

Pay attention to what's up and what's down.

DG

Hmm so A to B? 1st and 2nd card?

The three cards at the end are offset from the rest of the cards.

Considering the cards are in a multiple of five, and the new reference of Alpha to Beta, I'm thinking Bacon's cipher.

Suits & Directions

Only suits are black ones: Clubs and spades.
They also change throughout the code (eg. Three of clubs and three of spades on lower right corner).

Also the fact that the directions of the majority of the pictures on the card vary...
What I mean by that is, looking at the second card (by row). It's a nine. There are five clubs facing upwards and four downwards.
The first eight card you encounter: five clubs facing up, three facing down.

However the Ace has its suit facing down. And the six has a majority of its suits facing down...

Important, maybe?

Further observations.

When the card face is viewed of 10C it has a torn corner and 9C is notched, but this characteristic is not shown when viewing the card backs.

Also the card backs have some markings which seem to imply grouping of some kind.

I am stumped, but the again I'm crap with numbers. I got an email from Head Dude asking if we need any helpful hints... I'll respond and relay!

Update: The "hint" is below
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
How does it all add up?

I wonder if we've seen it before?

10+9+4

DG

I'm at work, but still trying to think about this...

Just blew my mind:

10+9+4 = 23.
23rd letter in the alphabet is W.
That means, first 3 rounds of 10+9+4 = www
Sort of like a web address, see?

Now, taking the previous clue, "Pay attention to what's up and what's down", I wrote out all the card numbers, their suit, AND the direction in which their backs are facing. There are also a few cards that are "true" to their direction on the back (ie: has a downward facing smudge and the suit also faces downwards) - which are all 8s (regardless which direction they are in), upward 9s, upward 3s, and downward 6s.

I assumed that you add together the card values of the cards facing the same direction until you come to a card facing the opposite direction, or is of a different suit or one of the "true direction" cards, and adding no more than three values together at a time and not adding a value that is over 26 (which would be out of the scope of the alphabet).

Going by that, so far I've decoded this:

www (first 3 lots of 10+9+4)
w (4th lot of 10+9+4 that's split between first row and second)
h (8, one of the "true" cards)
a (Ace = 1)
t (10+10)
h (8, another "true" card)
e (2+3)

And from there I get stuck and think there must be something up with my theory. After e (2+3), there is a set of three upward facing cards - 9+8+9 - which would get you 26=z. I don't know, but "hez" doesn't sound right...
The next few numbers would also spell "jhjcifc" and therefore is utter jibberish...

I dunno, don't really think I'm onto anything, but just thought I'd put this out there Smile

Course he solved it... he's a leadfarmer motherflipper!

Well - it says the "game is far from over" in the new images, but I imagine a lot of the rest of the game will hinge on what we find in the Old Soldiers comic. Who's going to order a copy?

Holy crap. We've got a new e-mail from Sigyn.

he's gone
Quote:
Loki's gone.

I still can't believe it....

I told him it was crazy, I told him to ask one of you for help, but he wouldn't hear it. He wouldn't even let ME go with him.

He was rambling about the Highbridge and that he cracked the code, and it was "going down tonight"

That was eight hours ago.

I haven't heard from him, so I went to the Highbridge In the Bronx. There was a crime scene and blood, and TONS of cops. I had to get out of there. I haven't been able to stop crying, I just KNOW something happened to him.

I can't talk more about this, I'm tearing up again.

Once I get a hold of myself, I'll be back.

I know I can count on Loki's friends to help.

Please help me, I'm heartbroken.

Sigyn

Guys, Loki might be dead.

Has anyone from New York thought of going down there if you're anywhere near it?

I am in Manhattan, so in theory I could go. I have the key I was sent.

EDIT: I emailed Sigyn saying sorry we couldnt help Loki more and asking if i should check out the Highbridge. Here is the response:

Quote:
Oh chelsea, thank you for your email, still sad, still terrified, still no word from Loki.

I know we're going to meet eventually, but its too soon now. I would advise against the highbridge, I just think its too dangerous. I found some files on Loki's computer, I'm going to send them out to everybody, its what he would want.

- Sigyn

So... No. Also, did anyone ever crack this: http://www.fieldagentfederal.com
