Why wasn't this made into a vote-thread?

Operator though, crazy humans in media don't scare me.

The Operator, by far. Masky canīt hide in plain sight as well (or can he?)

Huh, its kinda a tie for me. It seems like Slendy is the thing in charge. He gives orders and the Maskies follow it. The idea of Slendy and the thought of him constantly hovering over you is terrifying. I mean he represents so much and the thought of him is just horrific. But its also freaky knowing that Slendy has soldiers that can attack you at any time. Sure they are human and mortal. But just knowing that they charge at you head first without warning makes me cringe a little.

The fact that if Masky appeared, I could probably take him on evenly, makes him less scary. The Operator is a force you can't charge to the ground. The fear of the unknown is common, and The Operator is a representation of that.

I won't say Masky isn't frightening, I mean, when he charged at J in the mystery house it scared the crap out of me at first. The same with his lurking in J's room (particularly when he's outside the window, which a lot of people miss). But that was before the fanfics and the fangirling over him, I don't understand all that and it's kinda turned him into a comical character.

The Operator, on the other hand, is terrifying in his normal guise. The MH crew have done a good job of keeping him under wraps in Season 2, the tension is building and you know he's coming, but you aren't sure where. The Operator cuts you up, scoops out your organs and places them in bags hanging from trees (see EMH, I'll See You in Hell Blog, JAF, Making it Count Blog etc etc). He impales you on trees and rapes your mind, and there is no doubt that this eldritch horror is the one we are meeting in the MH Universe, so we know he can do all that - but he hasn't yet, the terror is coming, he's just warming up.

We need a big scare soon, I believe. Something epic to really make us crap ourselves, Troy's blog talks about how the next few entries are taking a lot of work so I'm expecting something big to happen. [/i]

Eh, I probably should have, but I was more interested in why people feared one of them as opposed to how many did.

I can't find who posted it, but someone was talking about how you could run from The Operator. Except you CAN'T. Entry #13 shows that. Oh, look, he's way over there behind a fence Alex can jus-OHGODJESUSHE'SRIGHTTHERE.

Personally, I just have to vote for the Operator. He/It is just so.. unknown, in its motives, in its abilites, in its exsistance. We don't know anything about it except it's here. That's all.

And we may not even know he's there. The Operator could be just outside your window. Waiting for... something.

I remember a thread like this popping up way back after Masky first showed up. Seems like a lot more people were afraid of Masky before the fans pounced on him. Crying or Very sad

I personally like Masky in the same way I like the Joker. That is, I think he's so brilliant at what he does. He's such a phenomenal mystery. Looking at him without the all of the verdammte off-the-wall speculation, he's so unknown. We don't know what he wants, how he's doing things, who he works for, how sane he is (though speculation on his sanity is more reasonable than most), or even what he's up to.

The same can be said for the Operator, but he's harder to outright admire, because he's so unearthly-almost-human. By extension, he is easier to be outright afraid of. Plus, when walking around at night, less things look like Masky than they do the Operator.

I'm not so sure about the answer to this question. The operator freaks me out when I'm outside. I double check every tree and lock the doors when driving through fog. On the other hand, Masky haunts my bed time. I'm always worried that I'm going to wake up and he's going to be staring at me.

Masky and Operator are both scary, but for different reasons. Masky is very OMG HE'S RIGHT THERE, RUN! but the Operator is something different, the longer you think about him the more terrifying he is. He seems like he's always there, watching you. The blurry black object in the corner of your eye, that suit hanging ontherack.

I highly appreciate how the crew managed to cast "two villians" in the same series. One is unearthly, mysterious figure with unknown motive and goals, and the other one with obvious relevance to a person (Tim, I know it's not certain/confirmed) and zealous motives.

To choose, I'd pick the Operator. As stated before, his ability to "sneak" into our daily lives and his motionless staring from a distance makes him somehow "unstoppable". Jay should get a restraining order for him but I doubt it'll work Smile

At the other hand, despite the cryptical video replies and other mysterious stuff, Masky is still quite frightening since it's a person out of control, after all.

The Operator, hands down.

Masky is at least somewhat predictable, whereas we have absolutely no idea what the Operator is doing or even wants.

For me it's a tie. Masky and the Operator are just too different for me to compare!
The Operator is terrifying in so many ways, mostly revolving around the fact that he is so alien. You don't know what he is or what he wants, and there's really no way to escape and/or fight him. The Operator is the ultimate symbol of hopelessness!
Masky is scary in a different way entirely. He loses the paranormal factor, but makes up for it by being realistic. Late at night I can convince myself not to be scared of the Operator because he is so unreal. Unfortunately I can't get rid of masky because he is so human. It's not outside the realm of possibility to have a creepy masked stalker, and it's even scarier knowing that he always knows where you are.
So yes...tie Smile
