- in Nov. 1961 the chimp Enos had its big trip.
- in Oct. 1962 they had an absolute perfect ride with 6 orbits that practically ended the Mercury cause now bigger goals were to be aimed at.
- in May 1963 last official mercury flight with (in)famous G. Cooper on board.

The Gemini program:
- officially started in Jan. 1962
- was a "learn-how-to" between Mercury (successfully orbiting earth) and Apollo (final destination moon)
- now around Sept. 1962 it didn't look too good for the Gemini.
Costs had exploded, things went bad (landing-parachutes didn't work, problems with the ejection seats and some other minor things).
- They found out that they coudn't use the usual battery packs anymore because of weight restrictions. So, the General Electrics company came in handy with their relatively new fuel cells. In a fuel cell, hydrogen and oxygen react to produce water and heat. The stuff we would like so much to drive cars with nowadays.
Taken from the footnotes of http://www.hq.nasa.gov/office/pao/History/SP-4203/ch5-3.htm is where the date roughly matches:

And that may be a connection to Mysterio and A. Minker. The power source. What if they found the "alternative power source" just around that time, on Sept. 19th 1962... but it got out of control (the train crash) and... I don't know, whatever.

On the other hand, 19/09/62 could just be a hommage to "The Virginian", a TV show which debuted on that date.


Sounds convincing, it wouldn't necessarily have to match an exact date but it's the right period of time for that to fit very nicely.

 		Dont't get me wrong here. With the "alternative" I wasn't talking about the hydrogen-cell but something completely different. Alien, hidden in some cave, etc.
In my movie- theory they did use that source instead of the dangerous GE device for the Gemini flights but in 1979, during the train crash, it got out of control as Mysterio said.

Yes, perhaps this train crash was the beginning of Alien's runaway. And perhaps it was near Lillian.

 		So, september 19th was in the middle of the space race (rocket poppeteers tie in)

But it was also in the middle of the Cuban crisis. Around september 19th 1962 it was revealed there were nukes on Cuba.

Most notable is the report they speak of in the beginning, the way the text is on the pictures reminded me of a print on a file. Maybe nothing, but I thought I'd mention it.

On a side note, exactly one year before, on September 19th 1961 a notable alien abduction took place, one of the first to be documented.

 		Yes, the Barney/Betty Hill abduction was briefly discussed already when an early post/link about it attributed their event to the wrong year. You have it correct as 1961 (a year before the hidden image date given to us).

Not sure their abduction is related beyond date coincidence... so far.

 		Taken presented by Steven Spielberg....i was wondering it there were any clues about this movie in it....found this in wikipedia:

"The implants remained undiscovered until Shocked 1962 Shocked , when Russell Keys' head was x-rayed to determine the cause of his seizures. The doctors treating him initially believed it was a tumor, but his son Jesse, suspecting it might be related to the aliens, demanded he have the same x-ray, and a similar implant was discovered."
