Oh, heh, I was going to mention Collective Detective, but I forgot. They kind of died away too...the last post that I saw was from Nov. 3. These latest ones were posted yesterday and involve someone trying to translate Beth's AI man files. He was directed to this forum.
It's because we're just so cool.
Yeah I'm a member over at collective detective too (here's the link XtRaVa) Many of the members there are members here. Alot of the main people over there lost interest so that's why I just come over here. Not that I contribute much since I seem to be sleeping when all the new stuff happens

I have thought of this, and in the true spirit of the game, whichever name we pick must not be distributed freely, but must be stegged in an image. This image must be stored on a web server, the only clue to which is an MP3 (which played backwards, and every other note disreaarded reveals the URL). This MP3 must be hidden on a CD, stuck in a scientific base in the middle of Alaska. The location of the CD is only visible if you translate the quantum encryption message posted randomly on a noticeboard. This notice board should only be accesible from one particular IP address between 12:01 am and 12:02 am. There will be clues to this hidden in a visual clue depicting a sundial, which is in another image file.
Or we could be the Noodle Bakers.

^^
OK, 2 cents;
"STOL" - I reckon this would look good on a Roman Banner SPQR Style
"First to the Spot"
"Whomp Surfers"
"Anomolysers"
"Paranerdal"
"Anomolies Incorporated" - AI for short.

The Lovin' Spoonless
Perl Jam
U10
A.R.E.M.
STOL & the Gang
MetaDexy's Midnight Runners
Aquapolis Rescue Unit
But don't use Samuel Gompers's Spoonless Whompers. That's my next band's name.

Please don't use that! That sounds like a bad bowel movement, ok?
This is especially cheesy, but with all the Whomps quite possibly related to Metacortechs, how about:
Metacortech's Vortex?

I don't think anyone here would think of ussing that name...
As for an idea, how about "Samuel Gompers's Spoonless Whompers"?

How about simply "Ungamers" since we are posting on the Unforum at Unfiction?

Whatever we agree on. I'll come up with a logo for the TShirts.

I have the first one, but need to adjust it. we might not want to make it Forum-centric. Just focus on ARG and Metacortech. and maybe a short Tag time..
An idea:
MetacortechsARG
-"Serving Ourselves" (play on the Metacortechs tag: Serving You")
MARG

My suggestions:
- Whomp Stompers
- Whomp-bats
- Meta Gamers
- Meta Chasers
- USH Collective
- MetaWhompers
Overall, I personally feel a name shouldn't relate directly to The Matrix, and it should try to encompass the game as a whole, rather than a specific part of the game...

Sporkbenders actually sounds really cool, and I also like joebrent's band-name... could we register it somewhere before he does?
Other things I could think of:
Whompers
Little Boxers
Metabreakers
Not as good as the ones already posted here though

I agree completely... I also prefer something with the "Meta" bit in it, because it is a nice "wink" to the PM's with their MetaDex, MetaMailer, MetaHTML, etc.
Btw, if we were ever to write our collective gaming-biography, it would probably be titled "When we were 64"
