Yeah, and funny thing: I may be wrong, but I have the feeling in the trailer, the army is shooting at the running kids, especially in the scene in this screenshot.
It would very pretty fit to the original ET, where not only the parents worry about ET, but also the army. And children know, this alien is good. Because perhaps there is another "bad" alien, and people are always too silly and keep various aliens for one common danger, without distinguishing between evil and peace.
So perhaps in the movie children will save one alien, while the army will try to get it.
So, perhaps the alien looks very humanoid (the kid in the lense?). And perhaps one of the running kids is an alien?
Talk about syncronicity - I just posted the exact same thing (i.e. ? Third child = Alien), at precisely the same time in the Superbowl thread. Great minds

Haha, yeah, I read it right now! (You can trout me there, if you want )
Syncronicity is good point.
Anyway, perhaps it's really so and from 3 kids only 2 are... kids, you're right.

Sorry to bust this theory, but those three kids running up the hill with tanks behind them are the same ones who are jumping over the fence. The half size person is the boy with blond hair best over running up the hill.
P.S. the middle kid running up the hill has changed from "elliot" to another kid between those to clips.

Ah, OK, I've re-saw it and you're right. But one thing may be still there: I remind ET, as it was hidden in someones bag or jacket, as they ran away. These kids also has some bags. Perhaps is one alien in there, and military try to get it, for every cost?

Or maybe they've got the "energy crystal" that is one of the trailer pics in their back packs.

I don't think it will be anything as blatantly benign as ET or the aliens from CEOTTK.
I think it will essentially be King Kong in suburban America, with an alien instead of an ape; kids instead of Fay Wray; and a bunch of hippies instead of Carl Denham's film crew.
If I'm wrong then I hate you all.

Throwing in my two cents...
I don't think the guy who is speaking is the alien, I'm thinking it is the classic Wise Old Guy Who Dies Before Act Three. Like maybe the mystery guy who is contacting Josh (should he not die or somehow transferred his brain to a computer). I think the kids filmed the train crash and maybe saw what was in the train so the army is hunting them down as well as the cargo which followed the kids back to town.
The flamethrowers I bet are simply the army's plan if the cargo was somehow lost. Burn everything, leave no evidence.
I'm really getting this feeling that the alien/monster/what have you is going to spend most possibly all its time off screen. Which I'm okay with, sometimes its the suspense which is the most fun after all. Also, I'm hoping the army isn't evil/a bunch of dicks for once. That would be the most awesome surprise for me.

Come now, the army are merely following orders from a bunch of evil dicks, and mysteriously happens to attract a disproportionate number of equally level headed folks to its ranks, giving the erroneous percept that the army per se acts like a gaggle of flagitious phalli - Chomsky self selection in action....

I know better than to try and second guess the PM's and their playbook, but I am somewhat mystified by the sudden cessation of our daily trailer tiles. Why stop now? I wonder if they monitor our progress daily and may have stopped because:
a) Thats all of them and we have to figure out what it all means..or
b) They are not posting more tiles because we have missed something and this is their way of letting us know that we need to find it before they continue,.or
c) They are concerned for our well being since they have had us on a strict clue diet since last May and feel that they have overfed us in the last week.. so time to go back to minimal clues again.. or
d) All of the above?? or
e) None of the above..
We have 3 areas of ARG going as I see it.
The Trailer clues,including VITAS RELIC..
The Josh/PDP-11/Mysterioso angle
The Rocket Poppeteer romper room..
We have already dealt with the trailer clues except for VITAS RELIC which is a mystery,
Josh has said that he will not be posting much due to the robbery attempt and police advice..
And the RP angle, if similar to Slusho in Cloverfield, might just be for fun but as of now we dont know yet..
What we have are many bits of info that really arent clues to solving anything yet but more like spreading seeds all over the farm but withholding the water needed to make them start growing into something we can recognize ..
i must say they started the clues last May but are sure waiting closer to the release date than what we usually see..

Who knows what lies waiting in the dark Melody;
Good thoughts, but didn't Mysterio tell Josh essentially to act like not much happened, and keep posting on HLM.
I've considered as well that the transport may have been carrying a Yin/Yang sort of thing. What if there are (at least) two "Its" that are out and about; good alien and evil Kladrog.
Also, the action scenes as far as I can see seem to be centered around night time. Could the alien (one at least) be used to the underground where it's very quiet, dark, different temp, etc. Coming out in the light would be quite a strain on the sensory organs, I would think, and it would want to seek a dark place during the bright day.
And the evil Kladrog, who knows just what this things is--perhaps something that the "good and benevolent" ETs can battle, perhaps sacrificing it/them-selves in order to save the human's sorry hinds. The movie from a human standpoint (from what I've read in JJ's interview and others) is about dealing with loss--another throwback to ET. So maybe we'll be dealing with good alien loses it (or nearly does) rescuing us from the bad alien?
It'll be interesting to see where the 3 sets (trailer pics), Josh/Mysterio/father, and RP all tie together, and in what JJ type of way!

ET was released in 1982, this film is set in 1979 so i dont think its got anything to do with ET. But we cant be sure
Also i was under the impression that people were thinking that Josh's father is the boy in the Trailer?

Overfed on clues I'm wondering why all of the screen shots from the movie? Obviously they want us to keep track. Has anyone taken the screen shots and placed them in chronological order? Starting wit the superbowl and then followed by each day there after. Perhaps their sequence may lead to a clue. The pictures given all seem to have a theme. Science/scientist, General People and the Kids. Has anyone placed them in order yet?
Also to be noted, the RP Gods are now sending out emails with all of the certificates. As if the paper ones weren't enough. I think by us opening our links we are corroborating the receipt of the certificate and entering ourselves into their database. I may be wrong but it would seem senseless otherwise. Since it will be a web based entry how better to verify the players?
The PDP and HLM sites are tied together. We cannot progress in one without the other. I'm still stumpped on the FFSH. Why lead us there? There has to be something there that we are supposed to find. I cannot believe that with a global number of players there is no one who lives close enough to the hospital or the town who cannot make a few trips there and investigate the area.
I don't think we've been overfed. I just simply believe that the moderators went on a long vacation and had to force feed us to get the game up to where it should had been. Maybe the post-production guys are dragging in the CGI department and the clues are JUST NOW getting out.

So far it appears that I might be the closest to FFSH. But it is 175 Miles away and it is winter. I will find a way to make a "visit" but need to know that it would not be a wasted trip. Finding the time, the cash for gas and good weather. will be the hardest part.
So finding a really compelling reason to go is Key, because it is not like heading down to Minneapolis for me it is way up north.

Xeno..
Its true that the Mystic Man did tell Josh to post as if nothing has happened, but I noticed on his last blog post he tells us that he got the police involved after the robbery and THEY have told him "not to post for awhile just in case" and indeed so far he hasnt..
And, we havent even gotten to the relevance of the first clues we got months ago..
Namely 'not certain if alive .. we go underground'
and why we were given that non-starter so early on..
Things arent evolving in any order so far.. Random plops here and there..
Lets light this candle!!

Somewhere in these threads someone (I cant remember who) did contact the proprietor of the old FFSH to ask if anyone from a film crew had been there recently and to inquire if it was possible that something might be hidden as a clue there.. He was told something to the effect that there has been nobody there in a long time and the roads arent maintained etc.. in other words, he was told not to bother looking there for he would have known if someone had obtained permission to go inside .. its been closed for years..So, save your gas for now.. but you never know what might come along..
