There is RED truck , RED Viewmaster , RED paint applied with RED brush to the quasi model kit.

RED letters on trailer.

Red was very significant in the sixth sense.

I'm sure it's a technique for continuity or underlying theme.

Let's not forget how the image of a red ball recurs in Abrams' films as well, including the secret 'red matter' in STAR TREK.

I don't know if red objects are hugely significant in these shots, since so many of them have had their color values significantly altered artificially (or artistically). Desaturation for effect can simply drain other colors to achieve a certain look without investing special significance in the remaining hues.

Anyone who has ever looked at old photo prints or film stock has likely seen that the colors shift over the years due to chemical instability in the medium alone. Some of these tints may just be for effect.

This shouldn't discount any potential hints to be gained through color emphasis, just saying we might take it all with a grain of caution until a definite clue pattern is deciphered.
