Ten days ago I hit upon a way to link my favorite number 137 to the game/problem/puzzle of The Tower of Hanoi, sometimes called "The End of the World" puzzle because of the attached legend. I even observed that my submission to Prime Curios was accepted surprisingly fast. I guess they liked it. What I hit on was that the first three solutions using 1, 2 & 3 discs is the sequence 1,3,7.

I also found it interesting that the post on page two here by Astro McCordian of the CSETI logo also matches the one-disc solution graph representation of the Tower of Hanoi.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a0/Tower_of_Hanoi_1-disk_graph.svg

I went ahead and searched for what the inspiration was for the CSETI logo design. Apparently it is from a crop circle.

Do you mean 2D & 3D Trilateration?

GPS uses 4 sats for extra accuracy.

Just remember though what Jeff Goldblum's character David said in the film Independence Day-

Quote:
Mr. President, they are using our own satellites against us and the clock is ticking.

Totally off topic, but I've been doing some t-shirt designs for Tron Legacy, and I got a few up for Super 8 as well. One of the two is the three-dot symbol in case anyone is interested-

I wanted something that evoked the movie, but not something totally ripped from the thing. So I thought this would be a cool shirt. Not sure how screen-accurate the dots are, so I'm asking for any comments for making this better- or ideas for other Super 8 type shirts I could mock up. I also made a circa-70s Slusho shirt.

As I have pointed out before regarding Fringe, the series makes use of the delta symbol as well as the three illuminated dots connected by lines, which of course makes up a delta symbol. Fringe is all about "the pattern" and if we examine the promo posters and DVD covers, trinities and gestalt triangles are there in a repeating pattern.

While this season one image does not yet contain the "foo-fighter lights", it does show us a trinity of faces in a triangular pattern.

The season two promo poster provides two lit flashlights and one yellow light off to the right (#12). The reconfigured S2 DVD cover places the "firefly" at the top.

This season 3 promo poster not only shows the character's faces in a more equilateral pose but the three lights are there as well in the prominant inner skylight ring/circle.

The season 4 poster shows our character trinity and the three illuminated dots tag along as we might expect them to now.

BTW, Fringe is back with new episodes in ten days. Woot.

While some triangles in Fringe are covert, there are others that are quite overt.

We also see the bowling ball's three finger holes mentioned earlier here.

If (hopefully when) Terra Nova is renewed by FOX, we might see mention of the Bermuda Triangle, yes.

Think people need to discuss the fact portal is gone in Terra Nova people.

If I took say, my observation of the vintage Ms. Pac Man game from the first season's last episode of The Walking Dead (TS-19), the chevrons seen on the military tanks in the same series or imagined the capital letter V (like from the series "V" and talkshow "the View") as a chevron and then took JJ's trio of dots as Pac Men with their jaws shut, I might imagine a gestalt solid triangle covering the dots that really isn't there.

Below is a graphic of a Kanizsa Triangle and we might either see three "Pac Men" & three chevrons or we might see a solid equilateral triangle covering an outline of another triangle and three solid dots.

But of course the three dots in Super 8 are solid without "mouths" so there isn't a triangle there to even imagine that's really not there, if you get my meaning. Still, we do have a hint of a triangle based on the placement of the dots. Then to add to the stealthyness of said gestalt triangle, we have the legend of triangular UFOs at night and the lines connecting the dots in my earlier comments regarding Fringe promo clips. The many occurances of the word "ghosts" in shows and films, such as Mission Impossible- Ghost Protocol, brings up the ghosts/monsters in the Pac-Man arcade game from 1980. Of course Fringe did begin as a "monster of the week" series before the overarching mythology took hold. It's interesting to think of Hollywood as a game of Pac-Man, with shows trying to get renewed with "extra lives." Like Snowy in this dog food commercial, I'm likey to be taken as suffering from an overactive imagination.

Maybe I'll go out for pizza, have a slice of pie for desert, and read some of Skakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream, as Pac-Man was originally PuckMan in Japan. I can't blame it on clouds in my coffee either, as I take mine black.

The portal is not gone if the bermuda triangle is connected to the series mythology. In a way, it's like the portal ring that was destroyed. The portal exit ring "tamed" the exit and leashed it down instead of moving around randomly over a defined distance of a few kilometers. Perhaps the other end if it isn't controlled in 2149 will lash about not in place but rather in time. This might have even been the cause (retrocausally) of the old ship being taken to the badlands. In fact, the explosion initiated by Jim Shannon might be the cause of the bermuda triangle back in time, thus completing its fate. If the series continues, we then have already seen what created the "Devil's Triangle." That's an interesting concept and great fodder for episode and mythology use. I told you I had an overactive imagination. Very Happy

In episode 105 (Wildfire) of The Walking Dead, we see three dots used as a proximity alert at the Atlanta CDC.

Right after this scene, our plucky band of survivors is resolved as what tripped the automated warning. In the distance a downward pointing chevron is seen on a tank which is not an uncommon marking on US tanks. Due to constraints on having a real US Abrams main battle tank available the show made use of a UK Chieftain MBT. There is also a downward aligned chevron on a tank seen previous and the one in the pilot but in this photo we can also see a downward checron on what might be a traffic barricade.
